    Hi guys,

Don't know much about cars but found the car I want with good milage. Ten year old Civic with under 100k. It has a new nct but no tax. Any issues with that I should be aware of?

Dealership says they have onsite mechanic that tests cars to highest standards but I presume I should bring an independent mechanic to check it out before I buy?

Any other things I should be aware of?

I'm fairly clueless when it comes to cars so any advice welcome.

100k km or miles? 100km would be fairly low mileage for a 10 year old car so is there any service history documents with the car, old NCT certs, etc to help verify the mileage?

I got a giggle from that claim. I doubt garages selling 10 year old cars are that thorough when checking them over and in any case the mechanic works for the dealer not you so bring your own to look over the car.

What sort of warranty are you getting with the car and what does it cover? On a 10 year old car a dealer warranty may not be worth much. Any links to advert?

It's 95k miles, so I think that makes it about avarage?

There a 3 month warranty but not sure exactly what it covers.

Yeah your right, il get a mechanic to come look at it. Would it be normal to arrange to meet a mechanic at the dealership?

On a ten year old trader? Not a lot!
Good advice to get a mechanic to look over it, completely normal and you van meet them wherever you like. If the dealer has a problem with that then that should set off a few alarm bells...

Curious to know how much an 09 Civic from a dealer might cost

Bring your own mechanic. The onsite mechanic works for the people selling the car, so have a vested interest.
