They're a nice time killer and get the brain working a bit. Jetpunk is a great site for quizzes.

I've always been obsessed by quizzes, just so I can prove to myself that I know ever so much about everything than most other people (seriously!).

On Monday I was disappointed when, during the general knowledge section of Mastermind, two of the four contestants correctly answered the same number of questions as I had. When I realised it was the semi-final, I forgave myself...

It's a bit annoying but the flood of social communication is also touching in a way insofar that it's people reaching out to their circles. I'm getting more far regular communications from certain faraway people than ever before and I sense it's something they just need to do. I'm glad that this has all happened in this era rather than an earlier one as there would have been a hell of a lot more social isolation for people that are prone to that.

You're right! This situation would have been much better 20 years ago (but with the current broadband). For me, anyway.

What's the longest year ever so far, in Roman numerals? This is something I thought of a couple of years ago but I've never asked anyone the question, and have never heard it asked. (There was a related question which I can't remember off the top of my head, but the answers are similar...)

I'll go with MDCCCLXXXVIII, provided OP doesn't mind of course. That would be 1888. You can get the volunteers to deliver the prize to me.

P.S. What's that book that OP has read?

    P.P.S. I've just found OP's last post:
The thoughts of not drinking cans on the barge make me very sad. I’m not getting any younger, the years are precious

Now there's a lad who has the priorities right. Give up yer auld quizzes and get pissed.

Like quizzes myself and been doing a few online the last few weeks. Some are organized well some are a bit of a mess and only for fun. I get too competitive for messing and all that stuff while in a quiz

Pub quizzes another owl Irish excuse for a piss up but knowledgable people dont want to admit it and are only there to test the owl knowledge. There is a such a thing as Quiz sharks who make a nice few €€ of going and winning different quizzes around the place (dont drink either the stingy gits)

I have the motor boat from Bullseye ready for the volunteers to deliver to you, but they've all gone to their holiday homes in West Cork and Clare. :D :pac:

You never told me if my answer is correct. It's an excellent question by the way.

"Quiz marque 2" has been going in the Oul wans 'n' Oul fellas forum for years. It's been dormant recently but I see it has kicked off again. Why don't you all join in?

It could give OP an opportunity to embarrass us all in a more meaningful way. Think of how foolish we would look if he caught us out in spelling.

I was just saying this the other day. There's never a good time for a pandemic, but as pandemic timing goes, this is right on point.

I'm spending more time talking to family daily, because we're all in a constant round of checking in on each other. It's nice, underlines how much we take everyone elses health for granted.

Anyway, OT. I used to like QuizUp but it became littered with adverts. Might download it again and give it another whirl.

    B> They're Fun
    C> They're addictive
    D> Some people have OCD

Now, would you like to phone a friends or do 50/50?

I'm not a competitive person in most things, but when it comes to quizin' I take it pretty seriously. To finish second pisses me off and the questions I get wrong bother me for a while afterwards.

That was my answer too (to my own question) so I hope we're both correct, hence the motor boat. ;)

I must venture over to the Oul Wans section...

any online quizzes similar to quizup ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,227 ✭✭✭✭Pherekydes

This kind of thing, OP, or the other type:

    1. Do you put ketchup on hot dogs?
    2. Choice of soda?
    3. Name of your first pet?
    4. What's the third digit of your PIN?
    6. Name of your favourite aunt?
    5. Second digit of your PIN?

    Other type:

Name the 454 Irish footballers who've scored in the Premier league (you have two and a half minutes)

QuizzClub(very American with something of a corresponding bias. Questions composed by the punters and well sifted before publication. Answers followed by copious comments by participants (on politics, religion, the questions themselves etc) and polemics which might entertain you or piss you off.)
globalquiz ( Polish. Some good questions, but limited monitoring of questions and some bad ones too. A central European bias. I hope you know lots about WWII, German tanks etc. Sometimes a faulty translation can put you on the wrong track.)
Trivia Genius (no bar on non-geniuses participating. Even OP would be welcome.)
Joe.ie (Irish, every Friday with an odd specialised mini-quiz mid-week on sport, music etc.)
This Quiz (hmm. Occasionally a bit iffy on accuracy.)
Buzz Feed ( I don't know enough about this one to comment.)
stuff.co.nz ( a mix of Southern Hemisphere questions utterly obscure to us and nice international ones. I also came across a similar one, by the Otago Times, I think.)
Sporcle ( mostly rubbish in my opinion.)

If you just type "quiz" or "quizzes" some will come up. As you know Big Brother is watching you here, and if you go into a few quizzes he will pick up on it and send you more. In no time you will be spoilt for choice.
