I like the look of these cars. My budget is 10-15k. Just wondering if Ishould consider something else?

I have one with 2014 reg, 200000 km done already with daily commute from Portaloise to Dublin, not a single problem so far.

They're not too bad a car. The clutches do give trouble in them. If it has never had a clutch, i'd have money set aside as it's pretty much a given that it will give bother.

That's kind of the worst of them really. Servicing on them is every 30k or two years and a visual health check every year. Hyundai are sticklers for the timing of these so make sure the history is perfect if buying one with some warranty remaining.

The i40 in my opinion is quite a dull car that screams rental car or Garda car/fleet car.

Have you considered a Kia Optima, it has the same mechanicals as the i40 in a better more unique package

The i40 is a nice car.
No hatch back version it is a saloon or estate.
The 1.7 Diesel engine comes in 116 bhp or 141 bhp.

Some problems with injectors and the high pressure fuel pump or a seal at the pump can crop up too which can be quite dear sort.

There's plenty of better options out there especially since you've a healthy budget.

Hi all, sorry to hijack but someone may be know this.

Brought a 142 i40 for a service, 116miles, and the mechanic is sure that the clutch is going to give me problems soon (something about a leak from the slave cylinder, and a drop in brake fluid - clutch feels fine still).

Approximately how much is it to fix clutch problems on i40?
