Some spectacular options there, manmade and natural. After much mulling I'll go for Heavens Gate which is new to me

This was a really strong field - apart from the race course. As they scrolled down I thought Terracotta, defo, oh wow.

    Has to be Heaven's Gate

Would not have predicted a whitewash there! We are gonna be staying in Europe for the next little while folks...

The pic of heaven's gate is super impressive, but I'm going for the
    Terracotta Army
Because it's automatically recognisable & every single face is different! Allegedly

Dubrovnik Old Town, it's lovely - the picture probably doesn't do it justice to be honest.

I will vote for the lakes, look very nice. Old towns are a dime a dozen in central/Eastern Europe.

    Abandoned Ghostown of Varosha

Varosha. I'd love to visit it, it's off limits in the UN buffer zone but there's talk of it being opened up to the public in the future. It's untouched since the early 70s, dinner tables still set, trees growing up through cars etc. A slice of the past just sitting there.

Woohoo first time i can vote

I'm going with the Ghostown, just because I'd be curious to know the reason behind it being abandoned

There's something comforting about being around someone who understands your need for silence & space. You don't have to fill the air with words or explanations, they just get it..

    Abandoned Ghostown of Varosha

Because of the history of it.

Varosha, for the spookiness of abandonment.

Because the inhabitants fled when Cyprus was invaded by the Turkish in the 70s

OK the ghost town but don't see it going too far

It's because of the Turkish invasion of 74. The Greeks were evacuated and have never been allowed back. It's pretty much as if the Brits kicked the Catholics out of Derry and left it abandoned.

I like abandoned places, so it gets my vote

Wow thats sad:(. Is it still controlled by the Turkish?

Yes, but there are negotiations ongoing about resolving the wider Cyprus dispute and I think a small part of Varosha has recently been reopened to both sides as part of the talks.
