They didn't tell them not to either. It's common sense. Complain when the government are too hands on, complain when they are not.

We have done everything they have asked for 15 months, yet we are still facing into another major lockdown in the Autumn.

No matter what argument is put to them now, their answer will always start with "....yeah, but the X variant".

Do the government need to tell you to lose weight ? I don’t want or need the government to tell me who to look after my health. That’s common sense surely. There are many things during this pandemic that the government have and will get blamed for and rightly so, but having to tell people to lose weight. I know people who lost weight during the early part of the pandemic and have kept it off.

I mean New Zealand did do a better job than most other counties but they did have the added advantage of being in the other back arse of nowhere in the globe which did help, and as we see Australia who also was praised is in a spot of bother now in some part of that county.

It’s the one good thing I will take out of this mess of a year and half, which is that as someone who used to worry about things that in hindsight it was pointless worrying about because I couldn’t control it. From now on I will worry about things I can control and if I can’t then Ill leave it off as they say.

In other news, here's the minister for health helpfully putting things in context:

"...the range for fatalities is between 335 and 1,760 people, "put that in context, in the War of independence 2,300 people died," he said."

Because the War of Independence is a totally useful comparison and the best context available. Far better than, say, comparing against the number of people who have died previously during the current pandemic.

I dunno. I think the backlash to the delay on July 5th lit a serious fire under the Government. They are still bungling, spineless incompetents, but in a bigger hurry now.

Donnelly reporting 1200 and the actual figure being 1,173, small difference in the grand scheme of things but ICU numbers are growing fairly fast, 23 today, 13 last week... I'd like to know how many of them were unvaccinated 50+ year olds
