Richard Sherman was intoxicated and threatened to kill himself during a confrontation with family members before his arrest early Wednesday in a Seattle suburb, according to a 911 caller who identified herself as the free-agent cornerback's wife.

Audio of the 911 call, believed to be made by Sherman's wife, Ashley Moss, was obtained by ABC News and ESPN early Thursday.

The caller described Sherman as being "drunk and belligerent" and said he was "threatening to kill himself." The caller, who identified herself at one point as "Ashley Sherman," also said Sherman was "being aggressive," wrestled with her uncle and "sent text messages to people saying he's going to hang himself."

The caller can be heard attempting to prevent Sherman from leaving the residence, saying, "Richard, please stop." She also told the 911 dispatcher that Sherman drank two bottles of hard alcohol.

At one point during the call, the caller asked the dispatcher to tell police, "please don't shoot," and said Sherman told her he would fight police if they arrived.

In a subsequent 911 call, the caller said she thought Sherman was driving to her parents' home in Redmond, Washington, which is just under 30 miles away from the couple's home in Maple Valley.

Sherman is facing several charges after authorities said he crashed his SUV in a construction zone, tried to break into his in-laws' home and then fought with officers, who used a police dog to apprehend him. He was booked early Wednesday at the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle. Records state he was denied bail, but a spokesman for the Redmond Police Department told ESPN that is standard procedure for suspects of domestic violence until they can appear before a judge.

Seems Brady played most of the season with a torn MCL. How many more achievements til he's platinumed the NFL?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Shouldn’t the bucs have put him on an injury report then ? I don’t recall him being listed on one unless I missed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,438 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Brady's had an injury report on him every day since he was born

Interesting stuff from Schefter that GB offer Rodgers a two year contract extension and he told them to effectively get stuffed.

GB should try and get what they can for Rodgers at this stage because it seems pretty clear that he won't play for the Packers again.

Rodgers expected to announce his retirement in the next couple of days apparently.

Well so there’s this report and along with the packers holding their shareholders meeting where they said they are committed to Aaron Rodgers on the one hand and president mark murphy also said he doesn’t know if Rodgers will be there this week. So either he’s retiring, he’s going to be at training camp and then the season, or the packers have no idea.

Looks like Rodgers will be back for 1 more year and then off to somewhere else.

Reports are that his ultimatum was that they bring back Randall Cobb to play alongside him. And that a trade is in motion to make that happen now. Slightly odd given Amari Rodgers already likely filling that playing role with the team, but I guess it gives his ego something so it doesn't appear like he totally folded coming back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Sorry this won’t be a well rounded post but if you’ve seen the reports about Ron Rivera and his annoyance that some of his players not getting vaccinated and due to him recovering from cancer he’s very much at risk then you’ll have possibly have seen TJ wards idiotic comments about how it was Rivera’s fault he got cancer. So **** TJ ward.

And with the niners singing their QB trey Lance to his rookie contract, there’s now only one outstanding and unsigned and it’s zach Wilson of the New York Jets. How very jets like to not have the apparent saviour of your franchise not in camp because they can’t work out his deal months after he was drafted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,967 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I wouldn't want to play for the Johnsons either. As long as they own the franchise it'll be a hellhole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭Christy42

It is a pity. He is talented but I feel he needs the most work of any of the 1st round QB and is probably in the worst situation. Mac, Fields and Lance can take their time, no one is expecting them game 1 and Lawrence has better receivers in Jacksonville. The other 3 probably also have better receivers than Wilson and he also has some of the toughest defenses going in his division.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

And in eagles news I appreciate the enthusiasm from our new HC Nick Sirianni in general but him wanting the team to “attack everything in the off season” is good but let’s not go too hard on attacking rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Zach Wilson has signed his deal I see.

Sounds like it could be something that keeps him out for a while. They are waiting for a specialist doctor to look at the scans. Schefter said at the end of his last tweet "It is not expected to be season ending."

If he is out for a while hopefully they trade for Foles. A Reich/Foles reunion would only cost them a conditional 7th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Oats as an eagles fan I’d love if nick foles could repeat history.

I'm biased because I want rid of his contract but I think if Wentz is out for a few months Foles would be a good pickup. He's a completely different QB when you put him behind an top tier o-line like the Colts have. They have the cap space too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Problem is though Oats poor Carson might not like foles coming in and energising the team and win games. I could be wrong but I believe that he never got over/moved past the fact that someone else won the super bowl when he was the franchise QB in philly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

Injury could really screw the Eagles if it means Wentz doesn't hit the target games. It could end up Wentz coming back and being a star and they'll only get the lower pick due to the early knock

Carson wentz is now having surgery on his foot and out 5-12 weeks. Its a second round pick for the eagles then.

Is what it is if Wentz doesn't play its likely a decent 2nd rounder. It's another injuriey for Wentz he's had a big enough sample size now that there has to be a serious question mark over his ability to stay healthy so a 2 and a 3 may be fine value in the end. The real issue will be the 3rd first rounder was potentially the advantage the eagles had over other teams when it came to jumping up for a qb in next year's draft

Getting anything for him was a great deal. I thought you'd have to give up picks to get that contract of the books.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

Absolutely. I thought they’d have to send a pick with him to dump the contract as well.

Wentz still has time to turn his career around but he is a giant question mark at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

well howie roseman is the GM so I wouldn’t be shocked if the eagles in some fine print did have to give a pick back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

Every teams fans complain about their GM and HC at some point. Some may have more reason to than others. I think the Eagles did ok in that trade in any case

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

And just on deshaun Watson and teams potentially trading for him. No team should be trading for him given the lack of certainty over his legal situation. Why would you trade for someone and use high draft picks when either the US legal system but more likely the NFL may act to limit your availability. Why he’s not on the commissioner’s list I don’t know.

Is there talk of teams trading for him? I haven’t seen any suggestion that he is likely to be moved ant time soon. Very unlikely until his situation is sorted out and the extent of whatever sanctions he is going to face is known I would think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,098 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Talk of trading for the last few days alright. The fact he hasn't been put on the exemption list yet maybe the NFL have some information on the cases against him that haven't come into the public domain yet.

Any team would be crazy to sign him now though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

Yeah there are just so many ways it could blow up in your face. I don’t see any GM taking the risk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Josh Allen got paid. A nice extension which makes him one of the highest paid QBs in the league.

The hall of fame inductions last night and tonight have been good. Peyton manning speech was great btw. Short but funny and showed a clear love of football.

Carl Lawson done for the season with a torn achilles. It never rains for the Jets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,638 ✭✭✭phatkev

Devastating injury for the Jets, going by the talk from camp he had been the best player on either side of the field

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

That’s tough for Lawson who is a very underrated player. On a personal level at least he got paid. Devastating for the Jets without a doubt, they looked like they were putting a decent unit together in that front seven.

In news that will shock nobody Antonio brown is acting the gowl again. He was sent home from a joint practice for allegedly punching an opponent. For someone with such talent he really doesn’t help himself and in the past few years he’s constantly doing stupid **** that gets him in trouble.

Nothing alleged, pictures and video of him ripping off the other guy's helmet and catching him with a punch to the face. The guy is a lunatic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Fair enough sky sports nfl might have not seen the video because they used the word alleged which is why I used it. I mean he’s got his super bowl ring so why doesn’t he just retire because he seems incapable of acting like an adult. That carry on about the helmet was nuts. He’s very very lucky that Tom Brady seems to like him and goes to bat for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,967 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That's definitely leading to another suspension and it might be a lengthy one.

Another mess by Meyer. Wasting valuable reps for your number 1 pick for a guy you trade for a day 3 pick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

well with the eagles trading for minshew mania, that’s the end you’d think for nick mullens who throwing every caveat about preseason out there, has had an bad showing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

And I loved the quote about wanting Lawrence “earn the job.” FFS you drafted him no1 overall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Today is the last Sunday until February, 2022 without football and I’ve never been happier to see the games pop up on gamepass. The eagles will be better this season but by how much is the question, and the outcome of week 1 while important in the standings isn’t a good indication of how the season will go because the Jacksonville Jaguars last season were 1-0: after week 1 and we know how that went.

Yep brilliant to have football back I love Sunday evenings watching RedZone

I see Covid is already effecting some of the games with players being ruled out etc. I hope they can keep major outbreaks under control now that most players are vaccinated.
