Professional spoofer Paul Mcginley said Rory has a profile. Rory is only 8 shots behind Jim Herman, who hasn’t a profile

    Explanation needed.

When the Irish open was held recently, McGinley was there saying McIlroy has a profile, huge social media following, global superstar, but he never mentioned that Rory is not playing well, I don’t think he should be in the position he is, in this case 8 shots behind Jim Herman, who is an absolute journeyman, and maybe part of the problem in the Rory camp, is that nobody states the obvious, you have to accept a situation before you can make it better, but maybe there are too many yes men in the camp, in the Irish open, mcginley awarded him a 65, before he hit a tee shot, but he actually carded 72

So Rory had another bad round. It doesn’t make McGinley’s comment invalid and I think referring to him as a professional spoofer is not only inaccurate, it’s also extremely puerile.

He talks like a man who has won 10 majors, so he is a spoofer

Or he talks like a man with years of experience on the pro circuit. Unless only you think only Woods and Nicklaus’s opinions qualify.

You don't even have to have played a Sport to be an expert in it (analysts etc are proof of this). Bit of an overreaction on your end.

McGinley is employed by sky sports to talk about golf so that’s what he talks about. He does a lot of research and calls it as he sees it.

Finished with 3 66's for his last 3 rounds. Just a pity that his first round once again blew him out of the competition before it even really got started

5 birdies 5 bogeys from Rory . Eventful day from him

Rory really struggling with all aspects of his game. Started par-triple bogey for his second round in the Northern Trust. 2 over today and 2 over for the championship through 8 holes today. Cut likely to be one under. Still a work in progress for Rors under the tutorage of Pete Cowen.

Rory with 3 birdies on the bounce in his back nine. Back to one under with 2 to play. Unfortunately he has hit a very crooked tee shot (had to take a penalty stroke) at the par five and will do well to make a par. His last hole, the par 4 ninth (Rors 18th hole of the day) is another brute and a par would be a great score there. Fingers crossed he can survive for another 36 holes.

Massive 5 and a half footer for Rory to only drop one shot and keep his chances of making the cut in tact. Cut hovering between one or two under.

Made the bogey putt at his penultimate hole. One hole to go for Rors. Birdie is a must. Anything worse than a three at the last and its a rare weekend off for the 4 time major champion.

Phew!!! Now the pga tour website have now updated that Rory didnt take a penalty drop at his 17th hole of the day. A par is his score. A par at the last and he will be playing on the weekend.

Needs to get up and down from around 40 feet off the green on the last, to finish one under on the day and the tournament and make the halfway cut.

3 and a half footer coming up for Rors. Hopefully the final shot of the day for him.

Yess! A great comeback for Rory who was 3 over thru 2 and finished one under after 36 holes. Slight chance that 2 under could still be the cut, but IMO its extremely unlikely. But just 8 out of 18 GIR today, ball striking very poor in general over his first 2 rounds. But still can look forward of to an extra few days work.

Absolutely unreal second shot into the 16th there now and a great putt for eagle to take the lead. He has been class today :D

Serious round from him today. As much as I’d like to, I just don’t have confidence he’ll keep it up consistently for the week. I really hope I’m wrong though.

    Pure class from Rory.

Hopefully more to come over the weekend.

His post-round interviews are fascinating. He spoke about his game exactly how I feel his game is, and that honesty is great to hear.

You can see he's struggling, can see it's impacting him, can see it's upsetting him, yet he doesn't shy away from admitting he's feeling disappointed.

Enjoyed watching him over the weekend, 22 under can't ask for much more. Certainly trending in the right direction heading towards the tour champs and the Ryder cup.

Actually thinking about it as poor as he's been this year to still qualify for the tour championship shows he's still at the top level, 1 of only 4 Europeans to qualify.

Rory tumbling down the leaderboard as he reaches his conclusion to round one of the Tour Championship. Started the day at 2 under, pre tournament in this handicap method, eight shots behind Patrick Cantlay. Rory got to 4 under for his round after 10 holes, but has since dropped 3 shots since and with two holes to go, he is 3 under for the championship 8 shots behind Cantlay as I type. Just 4 out of 13 fairways for Rors so far.

Poor back nine has cost him

His putting has really let him down, but in fairness it looks very difficult out there on the greens

Rory having a horror day in the tour championship third round. 5 over for the day with two holes to play. Very concerned about all aspects to his game, including his long game in particular. Hope that he gets his game sorted in the next two weeks, because he is a huge player for Paddy and Team Europe in whistling straits. Taking the next two weeks off, so not playing in Wentworth next week.

Hope Harrington is really not thinking of putting him out in Foursomes. Fourballs only

Playing pretty good this week. Pity he’s out so early, no coverage till 11:30
