Barking Dachshund

    Does anyone have any suggestions to stop excessive barking, at my wits end, I know Its a known trait in these dogs, but its honestly taking Its toll, the main triggers are noises like cars, squeaking, beeping.. gets extremely worked up and does not stop barking, I've tried an Anti Barking Collars

    Well it’s good you’ve worked out they don’t work. I can’t for life of me understand the thinking behind those stupid things, pain does not help train.

    You’ve got to do some training. It takes time and usually is a long term thing as they are known for being alert dogs, same as yorkies. One of our neighbours had one, within 3 weeks she was told to rehome her or lose her tenancy. I felt sorry for wee thing, but knew she’d be made to rehome her, the barking was incessant and the girl wouldn’t train the wee thing.

    It doesn't cause any pain, literally makes a noise in response to barking..

    They aim to cause the dog discomfort by emitting a loud noise, directly underneath their ears. It's punishment for barking, punishment for being a dog.

    We have a barky breed too, it has to be trained out of them. There is no fast fix solution, it takes months of training. Get some professional help from the many training specialists you can find around you and start on the path to a less stressful life.

    yes but playing with his own species give s a great level of comfort and having one of his own in his home. I bred daschunds years ago they are better in a little pack they feel safer.
