Any indication as to when they will be available? Just pre-order at the moment.

Was about to pull the trigger on some Eufy ones but these may change my mind.

Not sure, I've been looking at other ones too but would prefer to stick to Google of possible as they integrate with nest hubs

€199 a pop though, wonder if they would have a deal for black Friday....

Too pricey in my opinion, then there is a subscription fee on top.

There is also the distinct possibility that the €200 outdoor camera itself gets stolen as it is only held in place with a magnet. It is not even screwed in place.

are they doing the floodlight camera in the eu?

once subscription covers all your cameras though so its not to bad.

I thought it was a fee per camera? Maybe I am mistaken. I have the Nest Hello doorbell and am very impressed.

Regardless, I still think that the battery units are too expensive and too easy and tempting to steal cameras.

used to be a fee per camera but they changed to a flat fee per household about 2 years ago. I think im paying 59 euro a year or something..

There is an anti theft accessory which really seems like a must.

Only if It is any good! I would be interested to see what they have come up with. I think the best way to prevent theft is to have a way of fixing it very firmly in place. A magnet is pretty pointless from this point of view, especially when there is no cabling.

Google also offer a free replacement if the camera is stolen once it has been connected to your account.

As long as the power/wifi isn't out when it's stolen you would still have the footage of those who stole it.

yes, you are correct to my surprise

EDIT: The free replacement of stolen cameras applies to all countries that the battery cameras are sold in. The free replacement for wired cameras only applies to the US and Canada.

My expectation is that someone stealing a camera will cover their face.

its kinda of a grey area but ive found them pretty good about replacements. i had the front of my nest hello doorbell peeling and they sent out a new one once i provided a photo... good customer service

That is good to hear, but a stolen doorbell is quite different from a defective doorbell.

I don't think I'd worry too much about a stolen doorbell. It doesn't make sense to steal them. They are worthless if you steal it. The only reason I can see someone stealing one is during a burglary or in preparation for one. And hopefully this device will do it's job of notifying you and you can call the Guards for an active burglary or take further steps to secure your home if you think it is being cased for a future burglary.

I don't think Google and Ring would offer to replace these for free if them being stolen was in anyway common.

Agreed, my original point was in relation to the stealing of cameras that are only held in place with magnets.

How much of a pain would it be to change the battery on the camera though? Wonder how long it lasts. The doorbell is interesting. Might wait though.

Am I right in thinking that a subscription for these isn't needed if I just want live view and events?

Home app is a mess so hopefully it's easy to view a live feed without having to navigate multiple settings.

No I don’t believe any subscription is required for live viewing. I think that events over the previous 3 hours can also be viewed without a subscription.

I rarely have to charge the battery on my Eufy cameras but when I do I just leave the camera in place and use a power bank and long cable plugged in until it hits 100%

I think these have been on sale a few weeks now. Did anyone here buy one of these after? I'm considering it to replace my Arlo Pro 3. I'm unsure if the Nest camera can be mounted at an almost 90 degree angle though.

I bought the google 'Nest' battery cam recently. Good quality camera as expected, quite heavy (the magnet seems very strong though).

It can be adjusted to various wide angles.

Very disappointed that its not currently compatible with the Nest app!

You have to use the Google home app with the new cameras, had I known this, I would not have bought it to be honest.

I really like the original nest app, I have some nest indoor cameras on it, which are not yet compatible with the Google home app. Also have a nest thermostat and smoke/ CO alarms which I like to monitor via the nest app, although I believe these are compatible with the google home app now?

Its not ideal, I know everything will eventually move to the google home app, but no idea when.

I was also wondering about this too..

I recently bought a Xiaomi camera (https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-wireless-outdoor-security-camera-1080p/ for my patio but I couldn't angle it down enough to capture the lower part of the patio entrance doors. So I ended up returning it..

The google nest battery camera lens has a 130 degree field of view.

The unit itself can be adjusted by about 45 - 60 degrees on the magnet in any direction.

Energia shop has these for sale with a 20% off code (LOVEGOOGLE) at the moment.

    Tempted, but wary of:

    1. Monthly subscription kinds seems like something you'd have to get
    2. Future rise in this monthly cost
    3. Having to use the Google home app to view them (so many more taps and scrolling to find the device you want)
    4. Can't view them along with my other cameras from 1 single app (like IP Cam Basic)

Thanks for posting this deal; snagged a camera there to cover the one part of our house (side passageway) that isn't covered; already have the Google Nest wired doorbell and the wired floodlights covering the rest.

Anyone have one of these or know if they're any good? Reviews aren't great.

I have a few, work great. Two went a bit wobbly during setup and I had to retry setup process.

In use, they work very well. Big improvement over previous version. Alerts are very fast from them.

I’ve one running on battery and others wired with the outdoor cable. Battery one is at my side entrance which gets a lot of traffic with kids coming in and out. Looks like I’ll still get 2 months out of it which is impressive.

RRP is a little high, try source at a discount or wait for a deal.

Do you need the subscription or is the info stored natively? Like in the morning would you get alerts for activity during the night?

You get the alerts straight away sent to your phone. You don’t need a subscription, but you get enhanced features if you do.
