LF301 has arrived in Bradstone. I wonder where these will be allocated to.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,196 ✭✭✭boardsuser1

Broadstone will be the main beneficiary i suspect.

Other depots such as Cork might get lucky and received some but in very small numbers, maybe one or 2.

What are they? Are they like an LE? Like an expressway double deck coach or are they a commuter type one?

That I’m not sure of as yet.

The source is a Limerick based Bus Eireann Driver.

    VWL138 & 144 have been withdrawn.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt my friend.

Appearently for years cork was meant to get a couple of LDs according to drivers down there but never happened.

I'd be very surprised if Limerick got an LF

Saw one in broadstone very recently, look good but time will tell as usual

I'll take it with a pinch of salt where Cork is concerned for now.

The Limerick matter was from a driver based there.

Yeah LF301 is in Broadstone at the moment i noticed.

I was in cork for some time and heard the same of many drivers and inspectors ,

it's a very strange company, don't believe anything you hear and only half believe everything you see

Are you still driving for DB?

A few deckers were sent down to Broadstone this week.

Were you in Cork for work purposes?

4 or 5 new VWDs were headed southbound down the M7/8 last Saturday morning at the hight of Storm Brian - fleet#s 58-63, I think...

    58 & 59 have gone to Galway.

60-75 are allocated to Capwell with 4 in convoy spotted on the M8 last weekend as you correctly say.

    Limerick have received VWD87.

In total they are to receive 7 VWD’s which is expected to cascade VWL164,165,174-177.

VWL173 has already gone to Dundalk.

Incidentally 173-177 were new to Capwell in 2008 before transferring to Limerick in 2009.

VWL164,165 spent 6 months in Cork in 2016.

Does it actually do anything between occasional victory parades for (mostly) GAA teams?

VWD 65 & 73 have now been delivered to Capwell.

3 VWD's were sitting in Volvo on the Naas road last week.

I suspect these may be VWD90-92 and destined for Limerick.

The VWD 400’s have now entered service in Galway. As a result Capwell in Cork have received VWD26 to 30 from them. VWL154 and VWL156 are now in Waterford.

Former Athlone/Cork/Galway based VWL 304 & 325 are now allocated to Limerick, reports that VWL308 will follow.
Former Galway based VWD26 & 27 are now in Waterford via Cork
VWL150 is now in Cork via Waterford
Ex Galway based VWD27 & 28 are expected to go to Broadstone via Cork
Ex Limerick based VWD90 is out of service long term in Cork following an accident in recent times, according to a driver it may be a write off due to cutting equipment being used.

I see a few of the Streetlite buses in service in Navan on the local service. Also seen one when I was driving through Ardee. There was an ex Cork single decker in Navan a couple of weeks ago. I noticed it had route advertising for Kent Station.

There's a few ex Cork single deckers up that way, VWL305 of Sligo was over in Louth Commericals for work i read somewhere. VWL301/302 are based in Dundalk/Drogheda. VWL304 went from Athlone to Limerick recently and VWL308 is floating around up there too. All of those are 2012 reg. I've never experienced those streetlites. Opinions vary on them.

VWL308 is now allocated to Galway. My god the Bus Eireann fleet numbers really are scattered all over the country.

There was a double decker (one like on Navan-Dublin) operating 40 between Cork/Waterford today.

Once off or have Cork been given some double deckers for longer non city routes?

Possibly one of the LD class, was it a 08? Operating route 40?

Yeah LD225 and an 08 reg.

3 of them, they’re here a good while now, roughly 18 months, LD223,225,232, there were several sitting in inchicore parked up s while back as well due to corrosion issues.

i've seen them on the 51 (Galway),220,226,236,237,245,261, X8 (Dublin Route) and the 40 as you pointed out yourself. It seems they don't have a permanent route of sorts and are drafted in where needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭Csalem

They were meant to be for the 226 but do appear wide and far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭Cork Trucker

I see that VWD28 & 29 have now transferred from Cork to Broadstone, roughly 1 year after transferring from Galway to Cork. DD22 & 25 are expected to be displaced by them.

The new expressway fleet with BE is a huge step up. Travel on them twice recently. My only issue is you are unable to rest your elbow on window ledge as the seats are low.

    Biz-Dsk-Bus-Eireann-Expressway-E16M-investment-3-scaled.jpg
Among the features on board the 60 seat coaches are reclining premium leather seats with adjustable headrests, charging plugs, tray tables and air con at every seat, as well as 4G wifi. All of the coaches are also wheelchair accessible and have on-board toilets.

    Woo hoo more VDL junk

Same engine and gearbox set up as the LD/LF that are notorious for breaking down.

    But they have toilets.....

I know I asked before about how bad but they surely have done something to improve reliability??? Well put it this way I'd like to dream so....

Having toilets will be great for when they break down on the side of the road and you need somewhere to go ! But that's even if the drivers will open them.... I can't understand for the life of me why there's a vendetta against on board toilets.

And yeah ha ! They were built to a budget... So no we may dream on

I can only speak from personal experience here as I'm not a driver but I've had a better experience on the LC300s than I ever did on an SP. The SEs are starting to decline now; Dundalk's fleet have had the power sockets removed and the air conditioning on the lower numbered ones (SE8 and 9) tends to be off quite regularly these days.

Still a good few in service, good until 2022.

Some of the LEs have transferred to Dundalk for the 100x in recent weeks. Also, it appears that all of the 08 LDs have been withdrawn and are being auctioned off. I’d say they would make great camper conversions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,922 ✭✭✭GM228

Four LEs have gone to Dundalk ex Stranorlar (LE1 and 4 to 6 I believe).

Yes, all LD200s now out of service.

There has been a massive fleet reallocation for various depots over the last two weeks with a few more adjustments to come I believe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,883 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

Spotted about 8 new hybrid double deckers in the Limerick depot about two weeks ago. Any idea when these are likely to be introduced into service?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭Brid Hegarty

You'd barely the bus eireann logo on them. I guess the NTA are slowly but surely establishing more ground over Bus Eireann??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Glaceon

I think that was the plan all along. It means they can privatise routes without a lot of people noticing. The only visible change on the outside would be the logo.
