First leg of the 'Rebel Treble' completed.

A few serious players on that team that should ensure competition for places in the Senior panel next year

Rebel Quad doesnt sound as good but would be great to achieve nonetheless.

The treble will be difficult to pull off; it's only ever been done twice I think; Cork did it in 1970 and Kilkenny in 2008. Cork were in all three finals in 1977 but only won one (the senior). I don't think it will put pressure on the seniors on Sunday if they are going into it needing to win to complete the treble.

Btw the minor footballers are still in the All-Ireland to so maybe you could call it a quadruple.

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

    Quadruple doesn't rhyme 😀

At the end of the day it's Liam that matters most - the players won't be affected by the underage results. They're up against it as it is and they know it! I'd much rather a lower final win % ratio underage, finding the talent, and winning more Seniors. In saying that though, the manner and scorelines in our back to back U20 wins are very impressive. Good to see Cork getting back into the habit of dominating teams, long may it continue into the roaring 20s!

Only a fool would write off Cork v Limerick on Sunday. All week we are hearing how Cork haven't a hope against this physical Limerick side. That's the way we want it going into Sundays final. Keeping low under the radar. Keep praising the fine Limerick team and how they are going to win 5 in a row and 10 in a rows and how they are going to be unstoppable. Keep them coming.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭einn32

It will be a very tight game as usual between these two. I can't call it. But if Limerick are to go on and be considered as one of the great teams then they have to win. It's all noise around them spread by the media. We've won two all Ireland's which is a great achievement but it would be nice to kick on. Looking forward to a might game of hurling!

Just out of interest, what is the record of Cork posters here in All-Ireland finals (ones they have attended)? Mine is below. It's a significant one for me because if Cork win it will mean I have seen them win more AI's that ones they have lost. If they lose it is the opposite of course.

    1987 football (lost)

    1988 football (lost)

    1989 football (won)

    1990 football (won)

    1990 hurling (won)

    1992 hurling (lost)

    1993 football (lost)

    1999 hurling (won)

    1999 football (lost)

    2010 football (won)

Lost five (four in football and one in hurling)

Won five (three in football and two in hurling)

I missed the four finals the Cork hurlers were in from 2003 to 2006 because of financial constraints, the 2013 one I hadn't the season ticket that year so I couldn't get a ticket. So I haven't seen Cork hurler's win an All-Ireland since 1999. I am hoping that will be corrected on Sunday.

    1999 Hurling -won

    2004 hurling - won

    2009 football - lost

    2010 football - won

2013 hurling - draw and lost

Been to a few camogie and ladies football finals too, more wins than defeats I think

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭FastFullBack

    1999 Hurling - Won

    2003 Hurling - Lost

    2004 Hurling - Won

    2005 Hurling - Won

    2009 Football - Lost

    2010 Football - Won

    2013 Hurling - Draw

    2013 Hurling - Lost

4 wins, 4 loses and a draw. I was in Dublin in 2006 with a ticket, but wife got sick and had to go to hospital, so that's the only one I've missed since 99.

Read Dennis Coughlans book recently.. What happened to St. Nicks as a football club?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Here is the team for the Big One! Kingston starts with Barrett on bench. Eoin Cadogan in for Ger Mellerick

Not sure why you would think that. He has won on the big stage although it was in Football. Great experience for this young team

  • Registered Users Posts: 34,157 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

    1990 Football Won

    1992 Hurling Lost

    1993 Football Lost

    1999 Hurling Won

    2004 Hurling Won

    2005 Hurling Won

    2007 Football Lost

    2010 Football Won

2013 Hurling (went to draw game)

Was in a cast for 2003 hurling and worked abroad in 2006 so least I missed the two they lost. 2009 I had a stag that could not miss and 2013 replay just basically was in serious saving mode and had to not go.

Been to 1994, 2010 and 2017 Hurling finals too as well as 1998 and 2005 Football finals.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,687 ✭✭✭thesultan

He hasn't been on the team for a couple of years and now at 35 he's deemed good enough

  • Registered Users Posts: 967 ✭✭✭thefa

Nice concept. My record is very poor so hoping it’s a good thing I didn’t get a ticket for Sunday!

    Won 2 - 04, 10

    Drawn 1 - 13

    Lost 6 - 99, 03, 06, 07, 09, 13

Can still remember the hurlers in 13 with the nerves in the final minute before their back got the point but it would have been a bit of a snatch and grab. The footballers left at least one all Ireland behind them in the late 2000s - just didn’t show up for the final.

Plenty of heartache but lucky to come from a county that can make so many finals.

  • Registered Users Posts: 630 ✭✭✭sportsfan90

    Won (3): 2002 Camogie, 2005 Hurling, 2010 Football

    Drew (1) : 2013 Hurling

    Lost (5): 2003 Camogie, 2006 Hurling, 2007 Football, 2009 Football, 2013 Hurling

Just thinking back now how great it was especially around 2003 to 2010 to be in finals most years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Just a reminder that the Cork football minors are in the semi final now on TG4. It starts at 2.30

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,920 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Tyrone ahead by four points with 13 minutes gone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Cork way too slow all over the pitch. Tyrone first to every ball and look hungrier so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,920 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

a bit of good luck for cork when two Tyrone lads ran into each other.

5 v 2 down at the first water break, poor start but we are coming into it now.
