Sportsshoes.com, Brexit, VAT etc.

I'd usually get €200-€300 of gear on Sportsshoes.com every year. Stopped this year as presumed packages over €22 might see VAT tacked on, and then customs duty over €150. Was looking at sites like deporvillage. But a couple of people have said they've continued to buy gear from sportsshoes with no additional charge. Is that just pot luck, not being picked up by Customs, or is there some exemption for sports gear?

    Thanks.

It is possible some UK sites may have stockpiled goods in Irish warehouses to last a month or 2.

The good news is that Amazon is opening a warehouse in Dublin and so we should end up with an even better service than before.

A lot of other companies may start doing similar or start shipping direct from Europe.

It is well worth checking out the amazon.de and .es versions as sometimes they will have stock and it may be cheaper.

FWIW, ordered from ie.SportsDirect.com, no additional charges on value of €112, Irish VAT only.

Also just placed order value €180 from Inov8 - selected their EU site, and they specifically state that price stated is all inclusive, guaranteed no additional charges. Must be fulfilled from EU warehouse.

Amazon seem to be good at making sure their vendors are removing UK VAT and declaring Irish VAT. I've ended up getting a lot of small items VAT free as they are under the current Irish VAT limit of €22. Have yet to deal with duty on items > €150.

    YMMV

I bought from them last week and they arrived today. No extra taxes or charges on top of purchase price for me.

sportshoes sell on amazon.de and prices are the same. delivery is €8 though. Another option if you're worried about taxes.

    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone ordered from SportsShoes recently and received their package?

Some retailers, like Amazon, are on the ball, others are not.

I want to avoid the complete shambles that is An Post customs processing so worried if I order from SportsShoes the package will disappear into the black hole and vacuum that is An Post.

    Thanks,

    Alan.

Just to add, I've ordered from SportsShoes dot com, and Wiggle .uk and both packages arrived without issue in just a few days.

    Thanks!
