Might just do Mahrez to Benrahma and keep Barnes for Norwich

International break will be a pain in the hole

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

I think it's a no brainer moving a non performing player on for Benrahma. If you had say Greenwood/Jota/Pogba then it's a different story as they are returning and it's much harder to make that switch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭sheroman01

    Have 2 FTs.

Could do Mane>Barnes, for a one week punt, then Barnes+Perica to Bissouma+Lukaku the week after.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I already have Benrahama since GW1, thankfully!

I'll probably sell Tsimikas this week after his price rise. I think he is more of a 'problem' than Barnes is for GW3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭Klonker

Brought in Duffy for White last night before his rise. Not sure about his long term prospects but should start next week and likely to get a double rise.

What are Gundogan owners doing with him? If I knew he'd start against Arsenal I'd accept his second inevitable price drop this week but I've a feeling De Bruyne wil start in his place this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,397 ✭✭✭OneColdHand

Following the crowd: Benrahama in, Barnes out.

Have another free transfer, and need to sort out Tsimikas/Manquillo/Amartey. I think/hope Amartey might play the next one. So will probably do Manqulllo or Tsimikas to a Spurs defender.

Looking at H.Barnes out before he drops tonight, would be all over Raphina if this quarantine issue wasn't hanging over him.

Demarai Gray might be an option for me. Looked really good on the weekend and decent fixtures.

    Already have Benraham

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭ballyargus

Everton have nice fixtures. Digne in, Shaw out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

yeah had noticed that and was thinking of getting DCL in but selling Toney after just 2 games feels a bit kneejerky. Might hold him for another game and then assess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Ended up just using the 2 FTs to go AWB to Duffy and ESR to Benrahma (before their rises) to give me 0.9m itb

Going to need that 0.9 and some to fix my bench but at the moment I love my midfield and solo striker... Lukaku can wait.

    Sanchez (Steele)

    TAA, Shaw, Coufal, Duffy (Tsimikas)

    Salah, Bruno, Son, Mount, Benrahma

    Antonio (Obafemi, Perica)

Looking at Mahrez to Raphinha. I don’t have the temperament for Pep roulette

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

That is a decent midfield.I was going to start the season with Mount but discounted him because of Chelseas opening fixtures. But now with Lukaku there Mount becomes more attractive regardless of the fixtures

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

My knee jerked hard last night when I did Barnes -> Benhrahma, but it's healthy to have good reflexes right? 😅

Have 0.9 ITB and another FT, with concerns about White and Tsimi. Plus there's Son too who I'll need to keep an eye on, and it's probably smart not to go too long without Bruno?

A City asset against Arsenal could go nuts too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

I'm still avoiding City, as crazy as it sounds, until we have some sort of idea what Pep Roulette is. I have an eye on Ferran Torres though. He's cheap and could have bagged decent points at the weekend.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about avoiding them until a clearer pattern of selection and necessity opens up. A minefield not needed... but they could do a real job on them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭Dubh Geannain

    Arsenal out.

    White --> Sanchez

    Saka --> Benrahma

Got Benrahma before his rise last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

I'm expecting big things from Mount this year, he's involved in a lot of what Chelsea do in the attacking third and you can already see that himself and Lukaku will link up well imo. There's a lot of competition for that 7.5 mid spot but I'm happy to stick with him, I think Chelsea will "mount" a serious title challenge this year.

    White to Dier

    Barnes to Benhrama

Done before price rises but still feels chasing points with Benhrama.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Not really tbh, I'm happy to avoid the roulette for now and bring one of their attackers once/if we get a better idea of what Pep will be doing this year.

I'll probably get defensive cover for them before anything.

Should I do Taylor to Tanganga, or Townsend to Gray for no loss, or downgrade Rose to Duffy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭but1er

I'd be recommending trying to keep two transfers for gameweek 4. The international break upcoming who knows the state some players could come back in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,397 ✭✭✭OneColdHand

Now the Tsimikas is gone up another 0.1, I think I'll switch him to Dier. Or Sanchez.

Edit: actually, will probably go Dier, on the off chance Sanchez heads off to play for Colombia and has to quarantine.

think this is solid advice, you want to have 2 transfers or happy to WC once the window closes and international duty - If Kane ends up at City for example, you'll be very tempted to get him in, but if you only have 1 transfer and/or not willing to use WC then it get's problematic, esp if you have already plans to get in Lukaku.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Watching the Everton/Leeds game at the weekend, I had to buy DCL, he looked back to his best. H's got a big score incoming in the next 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭cizolin

Nacho and Dendoncker out for Antonio and benrahma, no hit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Is Dier a better long term (roughly 4 GWs) transfer option than Livramento ?

Livramento has more attacking potential, but could be another Lamptey of threatening without returning.

Dier has 2 nice fixtures but the XGc from Spurs is massive in the last few games and the CS's can't keep coming with that luck. I think I'm siding with Dier at the moment, even if he only has 2 nice fixtures from the 4. White's fixtures turn around the same time so he can come in there and start then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Some people on the general chat thread reckon Dier could lose his place for Romero?

I’m thinking about going White to Dier to avoid the price fall.

I think I could absorb a 0.1 price drop on White, provided he gets some CS n the upcoming weeks. The fixtures for him do turn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

Veltman and Buendia out for Duffy and Benrahma. 2FTs.

Will wildcard if Barnes, Mahrez and Toney blank. Shaw having a disaster too. Too many problems in my team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Yeah I owned him for a good slice of last season and he had some good returns That was with Werner in front of him so can only imagine how well he should do with Lukaku there. For 7.5m his competition is Greenwood and Jota in that price bracket. Id fancy him to get more minutes and outpoint both of them over the course of the season

Following the news that Son is training, I’m in 2 minds about how to work this.

Ive 2 free transfers and I’m considering: option A: Son and Livramento in for Mahrez and Obomabidele

option B: Antonio, Greenwood, Reguillon in for Toney, Mahrez, Obomaidele (for a -4)

Obviously option A gives me a great captain option in Son this week, but option B gives me 2 lads whose stock have really risen in the first 2 weeks and both have 2 nice fixtures approaching.

Also, option B gives me more depth in defence, which I sorely need considering when I originally made my team, I was planning to have Veltman and Tsimikas in week 3 and now I do not.

Is spreading my depth worth it for the -4, or am I better off sticking with my original plan and going all out for Son as captain this week (and saving the -4)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I like option B much better, but I own Son, Greenwood and Antonio as a disclaimer.

In fact I'm considering the possibility that I may have to ditch Son depending on whether he's injured or not, and I've also been weighing up selling White for Livramento if Son is fit 😅

I think Antonio is a almost a "must have" until he breaks or European matches slow West Ham down though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

-4 is a drop of approx. 80k places. I think you do need Antonio - the lad looks so dangerous and being at home v palace will be high captain option. You could just get Antonio and Greenwood in without taking a hit - think that would make more sense really? Would you keep Mahrez for the Arsenal game? and maybe do Toney and Shaw out for Antonio and then any 4.5 defender?

Also bear in mind having 2 FT's next week could be huge.

I watch Son v City and thought he was very lively, didn't see the game at the weekend, nor do I know what is wrong with him. I read that Ali said the manager decides who takes the penalties, so Son not being on penalties is a bit of a downer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,959 ✭✭✭✭CSF

The reason I feel like I need to do it with the hit is because of my defensive situation.

My 5 defenders are TAA, Shaw, Tsimikas, Veltman and Omobamidele.

I was banking on having Veltman and Tsimikas now and that clearly was not the case due to me making a bad shout on how long Robbo was out and a Veltman Covid shout that I couldn’t do anything about.

My thinking behind the hit being a good week was that I’ll likely get the person to play where I’d have no 3rd defender for 2 weeks (even 2 points in both games would cover the hit), and would give me the GW4 free transfer to not have to firefight my defence, and instead have it for if I need to firefight international problems instead.

See any obvious problems with the logic?

Trying to talk myself out of changing my plan on Barnes.

His impending price drop is influencing me. But mainly that I would be hoping that he would just jump into form against Norwich. I'm basically keeping him because he is playing Norwich next, who are leaking goals and Leicester need to get back on track. But they also have some other attackers who are due to start like Nacho & Daka. Perez is suspended so there is space for one more. And maybe they are trying to ease Barnes back into fitness, he has only played 71 & 63 mins in their 2 games. Doesn't have form.

I have my eye on Raphinha to come in in GW5 anyways. Do u just fast forward that transfer now instead? He got 90 mins in both games and was rested tonight in the EFL cup. He also has form.

    Barnes v Norwich (a), Man City (h), Brighton (a)

    Raphinha v Burnley (a), Liverpool (h), Newcastle (a)

The more I type, the more attractive that Raphinha becomes, especially with the price drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,959 ✭✭✭✭CSF

As long as Leicester don’t change formation after the Perez sending off, I think Barnes is a better shout than Raphinha this particular week.

Leicester play a bad team who are bad defensively. Leeds play a bad team who are ok defensively.

I've reluctantly kept Barnes too just for Norwich, the due price drop is a balls but I want to keep my 2nd FT and there is potential for him to get a decent return

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,226 ✭✭✭qwabercd

You see people saying this a bit re the -4 costing you 80k places but it's misguided imo.

The only thing that matters is your position at the end of the season, not your position after GW3. I wouldn't sway from taking a -4 by virtue of the fact that it will drop me 80k places now, it's not that relevant.

If you're aiming for example around a 50k finish at the end of the season, the -4 would cost you I'm guessing slightly less than 2k places at that point.

And then there's the potential upside obviously of the transfers you make gaining you points (in the long run, not just the next gameweek).

I have a similar problem to yourself with my defenders.

can you bring in Son, Antonio and Livramento for the -4 ?

I wouldn’t be interested in a Spurs defender from what I’ve seen from them so far and they’ve been very lucky with those 2 clean sheets.

veltman should be back for GW 4 so you could bench Livramento but still have him as a future first sub so sell Omobamidele.

if you can’t afford Son, because you are buying Antonio, then Greenwood is as good an alternative because United still have good fixtures and do go looking for goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

I’ve gone White to Livramento in the end having read that Livramento was Saints’ best player vs United.

Plan would be to get White in for Tsimikas in a week or two when he’s dropped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

The number of places you drop might be - but the hit is still relevant especially for a poster who might be in H2H games and/or LMS games - the hit is a factor for those game weeks. Sure it could work out - but if you are to do it on a regular basis - the probability is that it won't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,959 ✭✭✭✭CSF

I could have gone Son and Antonio if I'd sacrificed a different attacking player. In the end, I didn't, and pulled the trigger last night to beat the Reguillon (and potential Antonio rise which didnt happen) rise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,849 ✭✭✭Cartman78

2 FT..... Gundog to Benrahma seems the obvious move... almost too obvious.

That would allow me to go Toney to Jimmi the following week and an extra transfer then to switch out Tsimakas before he starts to drop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Id definitely do the Barnes to Raph transfer but the only question is if you should hold off to let Barnes play Norwich. Leicester need to put a performance in after that loss to WH, even without them going down to 10 men I still think they would have lost. Part of me wonders is there an underlying problem at Leicester, the team seemed to give up after they went down to 10 men. Their defence was all over the place, the CBs gave Antonio some amount of space for that final goal to flick the ball over his head and finish it, they were nowhere near him until the ball was in the net.

With Raph he was the first player on my draft. I see him as a set and forget for most of the season barring a terrible run of fixtures. I think for 6.5m you can just leave him there and he will return, not every week but then other times he can get a goal and an assist in a single game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

I see Kane has come out and said that he’s staying put - interesting that he would say this with 6 days left in the window. Will city go for anyone else?

is Kane worth getting in now with his future sorted? He should be starting game soon

I wouldnt be rushing to get Kane back in, need to see what sort of form he's in and how well his performing in Nunos's system. Most will need to wildcard or do a -4,-8 to get him in so no reason to go early on him imo
