Having your bullshït regularly called out isn't bullying. It's not for everyone though, as we can see from the few snowflakes here that whinge about it.

You said this "absolute **** show" was entirely caused by the Biden administration.

The **** show is the evacuation of Afghanistan.

Therefore it is logical that biden's administration are responsible for being in Afghanistan in the first place.

For how can one evacuate from a place that they are not already present.

    is that coherent enough?

He was vice president for a lot of it and is president for the current situation so yes, quite a lot of it is on him. More than most.

    Well whats the big deal?

He is going to 'hunt them down'. Similar to 'smoke them out'.

All he needs to do is invade Afghanistan and sort them out.

    Oh.....wait a minute....

Funny to see all these accounts crawling out of the woodwork. Anyway, rip to those who died.

Jaysus. There can be no evacuation without occupation, therefore "the shitshow" was not "entirely caused by Biden's White House"

Heard one of the best lines to describe Biden today..”we want a dependable President, instead we have one in Depends”

anger with Biden where I am is palpable.

I'm blaming him for the **** up of the evacuation. Not the occupation.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,625 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

100,000 people evacuated - one of the quickest and largest humanitarian airlifts in history. A " **** up" though according to you. It was always going to be a chaotic evacuation, whether it was Trump or Biden in charge so give it a rest with your disingenuous narrative. At lease Biden had the balls to take some responsibility, unlike his spineless predecessor.

The polls have shown a sudden drop of support. Are you saying that the polls have been good to him the past week or two?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,826 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

No but it is responsible for not bothering to plan the withdrawal.

Something like a 1000 American citizens are still there.

Not surprising he's sinking when there's a bit of pressure, anytime he gets questioned on anything he turns into a defensive man child.

It's not Biden's fault. It's... you know. The thing.

He promised trunalimunumaprzure and here it is.

Some of the anti Biden posters here make me sick. The level of hypocrisy is off the charts.

We had 4 years of the US abandoning enemies and cozying up to dictators, not a peep. Abandon the Kurds, nothing. Legitimise the Taliban and Kim Jong Un, nothing. Bigging up Putin and Xi, nothing. The Uighirs, feck em.

Now Biden is actually keeping a promise and withdrawing from Afghanistan, worst president ever? It's an absolute joke.

"Biden can't lead" - this is one of the toughest decisions a US president has ever made and he's pushing ahead because it's the right thing to do. I actually have no idea if he could have handled it better, but it is fundamentally the right thing to do and it's amazing how many people have been evacuated in a week.

Yesterday's bombing - it was committed by ISIS, not the Taliban. It changes nothing on the withdrawal. The Taliban are already fighting these guys. ISIS want the US to stay in Afghanistan to make them a lightening rod. Continue the withdrawal and let the crazies fight it out.

This is the Biden thread, there's another for talking about Trump.

    But, but Hillary. Hypocrisy indeed.

The job has been too much for him and there is no shame in stepping aside now at his age. Heavy weighs the crown.

It's blatantly obvious that they wanted him to step aside after a year or two. It didn't even look like he wanted to run for president. It took months of him making a decision (trying to convince him) to run or not.

As said above, the America is being run by an unelected committee (like ourselves tbh). The elected leader is basically just the spokesperson for them. If the media were not still suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, it would be called out. Democracies are becoming defunct right now.

There has been a shift in US foreign policy in the last decade which started under Obama - a big driver of this was globalisation and a perception that the US middle classes were the losers. Trump accelerated this policy and Biden is taking the same approach.

Biden doing a fantastic job, great to have an in command on the ball adult taking charge and responsibility of the situation.

The economy is doing well with a lot of jobs coming back.

Vaccines for Covid are available to all. I am curious if he will go over the heads of those governors actively trying to kill their own people with covid but they have started to back down from banning mask mandates etc. Not sure he can be blamed for those taking sheep medicine which seems like a hit against the US education system for the last 50+ years. At a minimum he has encouraged sensible action here without trying to force through crazy old wives tale cures which is apparently the standard.

The US gets on far better with its actual allies at this point and worry of trade wars with Canada/Europe are a distant memory which is good to keep some allies in the Western world.

The pull out of Afghanistan. Overall you want the US involved in less wars so that is good. There are some issues around it and you do likely not want to do it straight on the heels of so many taliban fighters having just been released before his term. Certainly while releasing all those fighters wasn't his call, pulling out of the country was and they had to have known that the taliban would be eager with their increased strength.

A large bipartisan infastructure bill has been passed in the senate which is good to see some cooperation again between the major parties. I am unsure if he was the driving force there but he didn't drive a wedge between the parties at least.

A lot of issues from previous regimes were also quickly fixed though they were quick enough wins to fix, stopping executive orders with executive orders.

In the end a major flaw for his media sessions is that he has only really had one major mess up which has concentrated attention on it as opposed to some which go from crazy to crazy each week to avoid the media getting too focused if you think of the likes of Boris.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,677 ✭✭✭Happydays2020

When was the infrastructure bill passed? I thought it was still a subject of discussion within the Democratic Party linked to a budget reconciliation bill.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,970 ✭✭✭Christy42

Sorry. That was misleading. I meant to type the Senate and thought I had. The evidence is against me having done that. He has not sped up much of US politics unfortunately so it is not passed or in effect yet so it will take some time to come into effect.

U.S. officials provided Taliban with names of Americans, Afghan allies to evacuate - POLITICO

U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport, a choice that's prompted outrage behind the scenes from lawmakers and military officials.

“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” said one defense official,

Asked about POLITICO's reporting during a Thursday news conference, President Joe Biden said he wasn't sure there were such lists, but also didn't deny that sometimes the U.S. hands over names to the Taliban.

This is incredible, Not only have thousands of Afghan allies been left behind but the Taliban have the names and addresses of each of them along with biometric devices that they can use to confirm identity.

My poor brain cells after reading the past few pages. The line between Current Affairs and Conspiracy Theories is becoming thinner every day.
