To plaster or to re-wallpaper

Looking for advice, just removed wallpaper from walls to bedroom as it had been coming away from the area near the radiator. The wall has a good few blemishes & imperfections, see photos. Also the old repair around the socket is not great. There is also a timber batten at one corner & several hairline cracks. What to do, skim coat with plaster or wallpaper again, any thoughts.

What resources are required to re-plaster? Can you do it yourself? What size is the wall?

I had a wall with lots of knocks (like 40 or more) on it and I elected to patch with one of the lightweight fillers instead of a re-plaster due to cost & effort. Turned out great, I'm looking at it now. If you're confident with fillers, then I see no reason not to just knock out that bad plaster and refill it.

Thanks, what brand of lightweight filler, did you sand down after

Tec7 filler. It's white so easy to overpaint. It doesn't need sanding if it's a small hole and leveled well, otherwise a light sand with 80 or 100 grit should do it.

But for the areas where you gouge out the existing plaster, you should use a 'big hole' filler. I used the Ronseal one, was fine but it's grey and took a few coats to cover.

If the wallpaper was coming away, I'd be investigating that while you're at it. Damp?

It has nothing to do with dampness, its probably just the heat from the radiator over time. I got tub of gyproc promix finish so i will try this to fill the holes, dont know if it will work though

If your intention is to paint, then get it skimmed. No way patch filler will give you a good result on that wall. If repapering, then do nothing in advance. Just paper away. Hides a multitude, as you now see.

Buy Gyproc Promix Finisher Online. (brooksonline.ie)

Is the above suitable for skimming
