There is nothing fictional about the data I quoted from the study. Something you could not bring yourself to acknowledge as it made a mockery of your efficacy dropping sharply and your, after 12 months it is like you never had the shots. If you are going to attempt scaremongering, at least try to have something to back it up. But then that is not how scaremongering propaganda works is it.

All vaccines currently in use in Ireland are fully approved. Now drop all this scaremongering or do not post again

Given that Gaelic matches with spectators are allowed to take place, why are open-air music events not allowed to take place?

    It doesn't,"invariably unfold." You're speculating.

    Let's the good times roll

But but but the media won't be giving up the scaremongering with these experts and there doomsday predictions

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,571 ✭✭✭Penfailed

What about your doomsday predictions? Will you be giving that up?

Would you ever listen to yourself, you're as bad as the lad who claimed there were no restrictions as long as you didn't go into shops or do any restricted things.

So you think it is just face masks stopping 190000 people going to work? Curfews don't count because you personally don't want to stay out later? Event numbers are increasing which means they no longer exist?

Respectfully, the perceived integrity of your posts has now dropped to zero.

I see some parkruns are going to go ahead on 11th September.

Parkruns. They stopped parkruns in Ireland, that says it all.

Exactly, just happened to catch the 5:30 Virgin News. 'And now with some breaking news we cross over to DOH for todays Covid figures'. Time to change the record.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles to avoid the DRS fee.

As long as it’s the un vaccinated that’s placed into lockdown so be it. No way should a healthy person that’s vaccinated should be placed into lockdown. Why the f***k should they be? They aren’t the ones clogging the hospitals. As Tony H said himself the vaccines prevent 80% for illness and a 95% reduction chance of ending up in hospital full stop.

There should no longer be any government enforced covid restrictions on society. The Irish need to finally put on their big boy pants, assume some personal responsibility and start living with covid.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,556 ✭✭✭Micky 32

Ah the “ BuT LoOK aT IsRaEl”. There is always going to be a cut off the top for vaccinated to end up in hospital. Immuno compromised ( whatever you call it) and frail sick people etc. They were always going to end up in hospital. The average healthy vaccinated person won’t be clogging the hospitals. What do you think the total hospital figure would be in Israel if there were no vaccines?

Now lets look at the USA. A bigger country and population. 150k approx a day cases. The hospitals are being overwhelmed in some states and surprise surprise over 90% are not vaccinated.

The anti vaxxers need to change the record and give over. The proof is out there the vaccines work. It’s a fact.

The anti vaxxers should be kissing the vaccines ass because it’s the only reason Ireland isn’t in lockdown right now. Only 300 odd in hospitals while we have at least 1500 cases a day for a couple of months now. But do carry on spouting the BS.

When you post relentless scaremongering and made up doomsday scenarios you're just as bad as the media you're criticising. It's not holding a grudge, it's calling out your nonsense.

No one claimed what you've stated in your first paragraph. If you keep making things up like that, the perceived integrity of your posts drops to zero.

Parkruns stopped worldwide. They were stopped in England for 16 months. Another restriction easing and you're still negative.

In its relatively short life span to date there have been a number of mutations. Three in particular of concern in relation to the present vaccines, B.1.1.7 (Delta), B1.351 (South African) and P.1 (Brazil). To somehow believe that booster shots will not be required for, at the very least the vulnerable, is similar to believing flu booster shot will never be needed.

I quoted the actual data, (something you went to great pains to avoid, and even yet cannot acknowledge) so since when did data become propaganda, or how could scaremongering claims of efficacy dropping sharply after 6 months (where the actual data shows it did not) and the baseless "after 12 months it is like you never had the shots" be viewed as anything other than propaganda.

You chanced your arm and got caught. It`s no skin off my nose, but if you cannot acknowledge that, then would it not be a wiser course at this point to move on rather than keep highlighting it.

Irony can often come down to one`s own views as to what is and what is not.

For myself a pedantic effort like yours attempting to show Abraham Lincoln never said something and provide a link that is inconclusive, I find comic rather than ironic.

Why wouldn't it? Is human biology different in ireland? It will happen. It looks like breakthrough infections are starting to increase in the US now, following Israel's timeline.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,069 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

I really have no interest in getting involved in a conversation with yet another poster who begins with more things that were never said. Why do you not cheer up a bit rather than this pointless nit-picking. The constant negativity must be weary-some and cannot be good for your mental wellbeing.

There really is a lot to be positive about. The weather is lovely and set to last. Vaccines are doing their job with low incidences of serious illness or deaths and the vaccinated number are rising daily. Looking highly likely that shortly the only restriction left will be mask wearing on public transport, attendance numbers are going up, as are the numbers back at work, and while it is admittedly no great inconvenience to me, I expect the curfew hours to go shortly too.

How ironic for you of all people to be lecturing others on being pedantic!

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,616 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

Just remember that there is a secret cabaal taking over the world by encouraging mask usage on public transport, this was their endgame all along.

Just happy to hear gigs in the stadium by my house in Salthill, it was comedy tonight but its lovely to hear the excited chatter ambiance that always accompanies gigs and stand up shows, I missed that sound for so long.

    What Spector actually said:

“A reasonable worst-case scenario could see protection below 50 percent for the elderly and healthcare workers by winter.

Note the words “worst-case” and “could”

This conclusion is not supported by the data presented in the study. Not ruled out either.

And what definitely wasn’t supported or stated by Spector or anyone else was that the vaccine would be completely useless in 12 months as some esteemed member of this forum has stated with absolute certainty

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,616 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

Authorising boosters and them being needed are two separate things.

Most people expected the COVID vaccine to be part of the yearly flu vaccine drive in years to come.

But expect that they will target the spreaders (young people) and those most at risk (generally old people) with that drive. COVID boosters will likely only target the latter this year, maybe next. COVID seems more stable then the flu (= same vaccine stays working), but like other coronavirus, the immunity wanes over time (but the fact the virus isn't novel to the immune system maybe enough that vaccines aren't needed as often as flu).
