Anyone you if there is a pay as you use sim option. I need a separate number for occasional use, but cant pay the monthly package or buy an expensive new phone. Even buying a sim from most service providers costs more than its worth.

You can a get FREE prepay SIM/eSIM from Vodafone and use it as secondary line. Just top up 5-10 EUR but don't choose a plan and line will be permanently active. I've been on this setup for few months now on an iPhone (with eSIM), secondary line mainly used to receive work related calls/texts and place short calls 1-2 times per week.
