pity berti Newman went overseas (well great to see him push on I guess in a way) but always thought he would be a good prospect in the pro game here with one of the provinces based on his skill set I seen him in sct cup games all be it he’s a tad bit small…

Dunno if it’s been posted here or not already regarding player movement… but noticed Bennie is been mentioned on the nure Twitter page now.

Thanks for that LSD. Anyone in particular to watch for?

I'm fairly sure that George Hadden is playing for Clontarf too

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

Sam Prendergast, Diarmuid Mangan and Donough Lawlor are all big prospects.. other than that Charlie Tector has a big reputation as does Rory McGuire.

Ben Popplewell is Lansdowne not Blackrock

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

Right. harder than ever for any predictions for the league. So will we see a finalist other than Con, Clontarf or Lansdowne as last time we saw someone other than these 3 as the top two was the 2013/2014 season

Will Navan be able to stay in 1B after having struggled initially in the uncompleted 19/20 season after going straight up from 2C/2B/2A in the previous seasons.

All Connacht clubs bar Buccaneers are in 2B will we see one of them promoted and start the push back to getting a western club in division 1?

Leinster Senior League Final(Lansdowne vs Clontarf) to be streamed on youtube at the weekend

  • Registered Users Posts: 628 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

Navan openly wanted to go down after cancelled season to try and rebuild.

One of their players moved to us. They are expecting to have a tough season and probably go down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 628 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

I think Div 1A will be between

    Lansdowne, Cork Con and Terneure

    1B

    Wesley, Belvo, Highfield

    2A

    Queens, Barnhall, Old Crescent

Don't know enough beneath that bar the lads in Greystones are very very confident but they always are.

Cash Money.... gonna make it rain. Danny Riordan didn't drop there from Belvo to Leinster League 1B for the fun of it either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,103 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

knew the answer should probably added an emoji or two...

Last weekend before league is back. leinster league has playoffs this weekend. final division 1/playoff division 2.

Ulster league continues with 4th round of games.

Nothing in Connacht or Munster but some clubs may be playing friendlies though most will have weekend off.

According to Ballinas' twitter they have qualified for the Bateman Cup this year. Great to see after they were a Junior club a few years ago. Winners of all the other senior cups will meet them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,103 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Yeah they won the Connacht League. winner of league won right to be Connacht representative in Bateman Cup and gets a bye into senior cup final as well

real good club and have done well since coming back senior 3 years or so ago

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,983 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

They were struggling hugely in 19/20 weren't they? As far as I remember they were dead set to go down. Watched all the highlights on YouTube, they play some lovely rugby and have some cracking players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,103 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Yeah would have been relegated back to 2C if covid hadnt stopped the season but theyd went straight through 2C in their first go but yeah they play decent brand of rugby. Kiwi outhalf theyve had, lindsay is a cracking player. couple of forwards they have are very good as well and have a very good age grade set up to boost that as well as have a few guys who go away for school who are coming back to play with them instead of playing elsewhere like they would have when the club was junior

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭Stainalert

I think Young Munster have to be a major contender for 1A - seem to be flying under the radar a bit. Have already beaten Con this season

  • Registered Users Posts: 628 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

Thats fair on Young Munster, I just forgot about them.

Did anyone watch the Tarf and Lansdowne stream, was it as dominant as scoreline suggested?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,103 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

I saw them play Bohs. who to be fair werent great and it was 1A v 2A but Cookies were very good. yeah they'll be contenders

No certainly not - Tarf were beaten up towards the end and had a load of injuries - I think they finished with 14 men.

Good performance from Lansdowne but a heap of work still to do to get to proper AIL standard.
