Guards in trouble

    Actually I think that's a suitable outcome.

The little scrot was released the same day and is (as per article) being considered for a state program.

i.e. he wasn't injured in the least (it's not like this is George Floyd 2.0) and the state are managing his situation competently in the follow up.

And the local community got rustled?

    Perfect.

He's a by product of their degenerative mind set in the first place - that's exactly what needs to happen.

Provided they keep their protest peaceful, and if not?

Show them them the fire hose.

    .....

PS - I only wish the police force in general were more proactive like this.

Let them protest. They should all walk in the local area and then go direct to his house telling him and his family either he respects the area or he gets out….all peaceful of course but it might wake him up and maybe his parents that they need to look after their kids

There is certainly something wrong with society. Underage scumbags are getting away with murder in this country.

Only the other day I was riding my motorbike and some scumbags decided that it is funny to throw half full cola bottles at me and passing car drivers. For me it could have been potentially lethal if I came off the bike at 60 kph whereas the cars would have the bodywork damaged.

Called the gardai afterwards but they couldn't do anything. However found out that two fellows got out of their cars and were beating the shyte out of these scummers. People were whinging that grown men were beating up their precious darlings.

It's unreal. Hopefully their parents will get some of their own medicine one day.

Ah complaints go to GSOC all the time. Any guard doing their job gets rubbish complaints.

Gotta agree here, and what happens to the dudes who did us all a favor and taught the little scrots a lesson?

They're the ones who'd probably get charged by law enforcement (higher class of person = gets held to a higher standard - according to contemporary Irish judiciary at least....).

Not to sound like Johnny-bad-ass but I've lost count of how many times I've just walked away from some degenerate looking for trouble, simply cause the overwhelming probability is that I'd be the one who gets charged by law enforcement if a confrontation came about.

It's insane, and call the Gardai to report it?

You'd be lucky if they didn't laugh at you down the phone.

Just couple weeks ago I reported a drunk and disorderly dude outside my building who'd been harassing residents for days.

The Garda in the barracks that answered the phone sounded half asleep, mumbled something about calling me back, then hung up.

Couple days later, very same drunk dude kicked in both entrance doors to the building.

    .....

As far as I'm concerned the Gardai mentioned in the OP should be acclaimed for their actions - at least they took initiative and did what law enforcement should; the residents of Finglas and all the other trash demographic areas need this wake up call.

If this is a precedent for the future of policing in urban areas, they have my full support - unequivocally, and categorically.

This is why they need bodycams.

The scumbags all have phones now and will upload just enough to make the Guards look bad with no back story as to what happened.

A few years ago a man was left with life changing injuries by one of these little scrotes on a scrambler bike but of course the dole lifers who were outside the cop shop "protesting" won't want to hear that side of the story at all.

Seemed a bit heavy handed to me for a 14 year old on a scrambler, like it or not he's still a child

Anyone with a link to the video?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,381 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Have you ever had to arrest a 14 year old child? Have you ever had to arrest one who was driving around on a scrambler shortly after reports of shots fired from someone driving around on a scrambler? Can you tell the age of someone just by looking at them, from a distance?

I have. Many times. Some look younger, some look older, some are stronger, a lot can be quite dangerous (something about them not being old enough to know better, yadda yadda). Then add in fight or flight, that gives extra strength. But go on, tell us how every 14 year old is still just a child and we should walk on eggshells around them.

Good job by the Gardai, but no doubt GSOC will want their pound of flesh and will have the Gardai up in court.

Excellent post. All this complete codology of ‘buy they are just children’ rubbish is infuriating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭thefallingman

Well everyone should be accountable for their actions, this 14 year old child, and the Gardai in question so we'll see what the outcome is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,108 ✭✭✭boombang

I don't know how much the guards get away with, but the conduct of some 14 year old boys in my former neighbourhood would tell you that they can act without fear of the law.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

Why do people always act like these situations are zero sum games?

Yes, the kid may or may not be a scumbag.

Yes, kicking someone when they're down and not posing a threat is unacceptable behaviour, particularly for someone in a position of enforcement (guard, bounder, etc) - and this stands entirely regardless of circumstance.

The two statements are in no way mutually exclusive. It's perfectly possible to be glad somebody got arrested while angered by the manner of their arrest.

Would people here go to spain and act the bolox?

No cause they know they would get a hiding from the police.

Noone bats an eyelid about it.

Step out of line and face the consequences.

No wonder Ireland is out of control in every city up and down the country.

Just wait until he's not though and all hell with break lose. The virtue signalling will go into over drive with people the ilk of Paul Murphy leading the charge.

The Gardai in question here deserve a medal.

oh would you wake up and get in the real world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,425 ✭✭✭maestroamado

The Gardai are coming across as being very un-professional in recent times... There is this.... i seen an incident where a guy was kicked and beaten by Gardai in Temple bar, one a woman... there was also an incident where a busker was manhandled by 4 Gardai in the west a few weeks ago....

If the Gardai want to have the respect of the people this not how to do it... the very fact that it takes 4 Gardai to deal with a 14 year old child tells me a lot....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭thefallingman

Agreed, shows the mindless aggression that exists.

I've no time for "scrotes" and where are their parents but come on, there was no need for laying in with a kick like that no matter what age the person is, where the professionalism? There Guard obviously lost control and should be made an example of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭batman_oh

There are hordes of teenagers that are actual little animals in these areas, but don't do anything to these precious little Anglez. They should be allowed to do whatever they want with complete impunity because.....children.

I live right beside an area filled with these dirtbikes (next to a massive Garda station) and it's an absolute joke what they get away with. Flying down footpaths and doing wheelies up the middle of the road in traffic with no helmets, racing each other etc. Garda just leave them at it because they can't chase them in case they cream themselves.

I eventually got around to looking at the damn video.

Finglas residents are some bitches if they're "outraged" over this.

Compare it to how I've seen continental police conduct arrests, they basically handled him like a China doll.

If the GSOC act to impose negative ramifications for any officer in this scene...... they'll disappoint me.

Yeah should just be one cop at a time tries to deal with a scumbag. Let them get injured and if the scumbag leaves them in a pulp just send another cop in. Like a WWE gauntlet match, be great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

When I heard the second name I could understand why he took some wallops. a family of scumbags

The Gardai could run over one of those little scrotes on scramblers and i wouldn't care a jot but here's the thing, If you or I were caught on camera sticking shoe leather into a teenager that was on the ground, the Gardai would have us up on charges without a second thought. They were caught sticking the boot in and you can be sure this wasn't the first time, so no-one to blame but themselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,425 ✭✭✭maestroamado

Well if one Gardai is not capable of dealing with a 14 year ole our police force have a big problem..

In saying that better have 2 for safety...

i did not see this clip but i seen the other two and they did not look good...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,781 ✭✭✭jmreire

Sure, follow procedures, thats fine and lawfull. Pity the little scrote was not so law abidig... and there are Countrys where such an incident would be handled a lot more forcefully, and anyone protesting would stand the chance of being arrested themselves. ( one reason that they don't protest, and when Johnny / Paddy / Tommy eventually does get home, they will be covered in bruises) But on the positive side, you tend not to get incidents like this.

    a) this sucks, if we took actions that were not unimpeachably self defense against any degenerate = we're strung.

    b) my contention is if the Gardai did more of this, it would reduce the burden on citizens having to do it themselves.

Gardai have greater room to move on this matter as they're trained in it.

Gardai have been calling for bodycameras for years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

ITT: Corporal punishment is a state-mandated response to scumbaggery, and is administered by the police without any kind of due process before a court.

That's what you're all saying, by arguing it's ok for the Gardaí to kick someone when they're down because "he deserved it". You're saying you're ok with the police unilaterally bypassing the court system and administering their own form of 'justice' on a perceived lawbreaker.

That has literally never gone wrong in all of human history. It's not as if one can point to dozens of historical examples in which such a government policy led to war and bloodshed eventually.

    Christ almighty.

What happened in the vid, I wouldn't even characterize as a "kick".

It was more of a gentle, "get the ball over the line" manoeuvre.

Locals being outraged by this just exemplifies their underhanded feigned "shock/horror" nature.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,425 ✭✭✭maestroamado

Then they should have them as it would stop this kinda thing... i think if most people including the Gardai thought all of their actions be monitored on camera they may reflect on their actions...

Personally i think a Gardai who abuses power by unecessary force should be suspended for a time without pay... They are well usted to dishing points for behavour so its a system they would understand and i expect the vast majority are good people/Gardai/citizens.... I expect alot of Gardai would welcome such initives if it cleans the image of the force....

Respect is a wonderful word and it cuts both ways.... we have to earn it every day of our lives by our actions...

I see the keyboard Gardai are out in force again. Please, continue to tell me how you would be a better Garda, what with all that experience of being a Garda has brought ye... Shur it's the simplest black and white job out there, anyone could do it!

I'm out, not getting dragged into this again.

I'm not sure if this has being posted.

I'd say there looking for a big payout. Young lad isn't himself, has anxiety, isn't sleeping, etc.

I'd say if a member of her family was hit by a fella on a scrambler she'd have being wondering where the Gardaí were.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

Did you see the photographs of his face post-arrest? Assuming he sustained those injuries in the course of being arrested, the Guards f*cked up. End of story. He wasn't resisting or posing a threat, assaulting him in any way was unnecessary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 497 ✭✭PalLimerick

The guards are the scumbags in this video. Regardless of what the little "scrote" did or didn't do. The Guards are the scumbags here. You can't go around breaking the very law you are meant to be upholding. It's the likes of these ones that end up like John the Superintendent.

They are allowed use reasonable force.

Allowed if needs be. He wasn't resisting arrest so no need.

I suppose a positive outcome of this might be that he and his friends might start behaving themselves now!
