Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great chance for Moreno there. Had to get it on target at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

This has all the markings of United getting caught on the break

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

United are an absolute mess of a team. Some great players but under Solskjaer, they're not a team and they'll never win anything of consequence.

Danjuma looks really tasty for Villareal down the left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

Arm in the face there on Moreno from Greenwood deserved a yellow card..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Villarreal by far the best team so far. De Gea has kept it from being 2 or 3 nil.

Dont think ive ever seen dalot or telles play before, where did united find them, league one?

Varane got away with one there. Big time. Villarreal should be ahead but they may well rue these missed chances.

Simply awful by Varane. United lucky not to be behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Villareal should be about 3 up by now, United defence all over the place

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

United getting played off the pitch here. They'll be delighted to go in even at the break.

Gerard Moreno a big loss for Villarreal. You would expect him to put away that big chance after the big Varane mess up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

    How is it still 0-0?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

The return leg will be interesting with Moreno back, and maybe even Chukwueze too, now that he's finally back training.

Christ, United let off the hook again there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

This is like peak Stoke City from United hoping for a goal from a corner or throw in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,085 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Paco Alcacer again with a big let up when he was 2v1 through on goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,462 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Two on one, and fcked it up,

Moreno is a liability, always was .

Awful pass, another fantastic chance with a 2 on 1. United cut open again.

You feel United will score first as Villareal are not taking their chances and will be punished.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,462 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

DeGea loves to save, must have a fortune in the bank

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Oof, what a chance! How yer man was allowed swan away up the length of the field I've no idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

Should be about 4 up Villareal.

The only thing Man Utd can take from that, is that they are level some how.

I've seen wasteful halves off football before...but that,by Villarreal,is easily the worst I've ever seen.. 0-4 would be kind to utd ...who will surely win it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Villarreal well on top but you have to take those kind of chances. Still time for United to turn it around. Dalot needs more help against Danjuma.

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

Villarreal are absolutely dreadful. A decent team would be 3-4 up here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

United will probably win this because they have so many quality players on the pitch but Jesus, how does Solskjaer still have a job? He's spent £500m and on some world class players but he's easily the worst manager in the Premier League. There's very few managers who wouldn't walk into that job right now and make an immediate improvement.

    Long may it continue.

Dunne and Kerr taking Greenwood apart over his work rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Adeyemi has won another penalty for Salzburg. That's 4 he's won in 2 games. Solskjaer knows who to sign in January...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Missing their main goalscorer - Gerard. I think Utd have played a few games already this season against teams missing their main striker. Poxed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,858 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Hardly a night to remember, only four of the teams kicking off at 8, and none of the eight away teams, have scored so far...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Brendan Flowers

You've added on about an extra 100 million onto what Ole has actually spent. It's more like £400 million he has spent so far. Which is still a crazy amount of money. But its similar to what Klopp and Pep both had to spend to win League/Champions League titles. But the difference is both of those managers were able to win titles after spending big. Ole won't. He's not strong enough tactically.

Ole showed his hand (we all knew he was holding nothing) a few weeks ago when asked about tactics and he said intricacies in football are focused on too much, it's about passion, desire to win the ball etc. (every good player/team has that already), and he's not going to explain his philosophy (he doesn't have one), and he wants proper midfielders like Keane, Scholes, Robson. He's living somewhere between 1990 and 2000 when he's talking about sport, in the biggest sports now every detail is analysed and reanalysed. United gave this guy a new three year deal only a few months ago so I don't think they'll sack him just yet.

I predict Woodward pulls the trigger as he walks out the door in December (unless it really unravels before then) to allow the new guy in charge to avoid sacking a legend and can bring in his own man. Clean slate etc.

Ah come on, de gea has produced two excellent saves. Alcacer sent a shot just wide, not great but hardly a grevious miss, Danjuma had a toe poke wide that was poor but wasn’t a huge chance. Any others?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Great finish by Chiesa to give Juve the lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Deserved lead for Villarreal. Danjuma unsurprisingly involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

Danjuma went under the radar for me at Bournemouth. Did PL clubs miss out with not signing him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,296 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Lindelof backing off like a clown for the goal.

Biggest surprise is that they've taken a chance. United midfield totally absent there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

    Bring on Usain Bolt 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

Too much more of this and he might lose his job

and none of us wants that

  • You will find a large cohort of Utd fans are still convinced that Ole is fit for purpose as Utd manager after near 3 years of this type of performance no matter the squad

That's the sad thing (and probably the hilarious thing for rivals)

Villareal well and truly deserved of the lead and tbh should be 3 or 4 up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Was that Dennis Taylor sitting beside Fergsuon?

It’s a weird one. The Dutch didn’t bring him to the euros either. Maybe there’s a weakness in his game but it’s not obvious. His finishing isn’t bad I don’t think, despite some evidence tonight.

very clever business for Villarreal. They will sell him next summer or the one after for a mint

  • Not a chance. It's of benefit to Glazers to keep him there from a finance and business perspective

    Nobody inside to challenge him

He's being protected by backroom staff and ex players for a long time

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

Never a free kick that leading to that goal rubbish refereeing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

Bruno telegraphed what he was going to do and nobody picked up the goalscorer. decent finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Mentioned in the La Liga thread a few weeks back I was surprised a PL club didn't go for him. Has everything required to be a success in the PL.

Lovely volley by Telles to get United back into it.

  • Lovely moment of magic there. What a strike!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

Yes, hasn't poor Fergie suffered enough recently.

Blatant dive as usual from a Man United player, diving for free kicks and penalties is their only tactic, pathetic refereeing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Moreno's going to get the winner here.
