Rear Laneway Access

Hi all - not sure if this is the right forum but seemed the only option.

We live in an old terrace of 8 houses - lane at the back which we have always used for parking access in back garden. Pedestrian access from both ends of lane - but cars access from one end only. Few times recently some non-residents have parked in and blocked the lane - we can't get our car out !!. Approached the council about signage but apparently lane "not in their charge" so they can do nothing.

What might I consider - just to alert drivers that 24x7 access required for residents ?. Get yellow lines put in privately ?, Or some sign at the entrance ?. We're half-way up so a sign on our gate/wall would not deter people from blocking the start of the lane.

Just trying to see what, if anything, we could do. Any ideas appreciated

    Thanks, K
