Will Cole meet Fish? I know they'll probably avoid that.

Isn't he already signed to MLW and this is just a one off ? could be wrong

He's definitely set to appear for MLW but not sure the nature of his contract but I know some MLW talent have appeared on AEW in the past despite contracts.

We'll have to see but I did find it interesting that the t-shirt he was wearing had an AEW logo on it.

Yeah I was full sure Nyla would take the pin. If this leads to a Thunder Rosa v Jade feud with Thunder going over before moving onto Britt, then I'd accept that. Jade is so green, but Rosa could carry her to a decent match. The way it currently looks, they have kind of booked themselves into a corner.

Looking at the lineup for the Casino Ladder match it's hard to see past the Joker winning. PAC and Orange have had a shot at Omega recently, Mox/Omega had been done, and none of the heels make sense either really.

Ya, a Thunder Rosa Vs Jade feud wouldn't be so bad but they should have used last night to have her lose. It's probably too soon for Thunder Rosa and Britt to collide but it definitely shouldn't be Jade in a match with Britt. That would suck as a match and I think both women would come off worse. Best choices imo are a Shida rematch, Deeb if she beats Shida next week, Nyla (already done but she can at least wrestle), Tay Conti or forbidden door entrant. Riho also would work but she's back in Japan ATM, she's a pure face though so will help Britt stay heelish.

I'd agree with above poster too on the ladder match winner being the Joker. The 6 in the match don't really seem like good fits or are rematches. Archer is probably the only option that you could do on a TV show that hasn't been done.

That not how you build heels though? Have them beat a fan favourite?

Omega and Britt dont garner real heat because they are so over with fans. A siningly undeserving Jade winning a title for a face to usurp her would lead to a feel good moment and propel a face in the meantime

Could Hangman be the Joker and go on to face Omega at Full gear?

He's also the most obvious option for that last slot.

They've moved on the Dark Order stuff now too the last week, so he's freed from that when he returns

If it is Hangman what will all the lads who couldn't wait to have a go at AEW for "dRoPpInG tHe StOrY iN fAvOuR oF aLl ThE eX WwE gUyS" think?

Even though it was Hangman requesting time off! Thankfully AEW isn't like WWE, I don't see them wanting to purposefully p*ss off their own fanbase!

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

I can imagine there'll be some furious back pedalling/revising of opinions. Probably 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean, if ever there were a legitimate reason for Hangman wanting time off, the birth of his first kid/first few weeks post birth would be top of the list.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,927 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

Apparently the kid isn't born yet either so presumably he'll be out for a while longer and more power to him. AEW have enough goodwill that I'm confident he'll be brought back right and it won't take long until he's back where he belongs.

Probably BS. You don't usually tease if you're the surprise. You usually stay quiet.

Few Hangman mentions on the latest BTE here too.

Jake was back with Lance Archer on Elevation

In fairness, I am a fan of both promotions (leaning more towards AEW lately) but you can't deny that the whole boost in popularity is based almost exclusively on all the ex WWE guys.

AEW is essentially an NXT 1.0 for established ex WWE wrestlers. Thats not being insulting. I think it's great.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭Pentecost

Yeah I think that boost is what they'll have been hoping for by signing those big names. But they're sustaining the higher viewing figures at least in part because the show overall is good and interesting (most weeks, they're not infallible).

Yeah the new signings caused the up , but they also worked damn hard to put the foundations in place to be able to tempt those big names in

What happened with Mike Chioda? Was he signed? He did a few appearances when they were at daily's place but I thought he would show up when they went back on the road.

Still one of my biggest complaints about AEW is the **** refs. A good ref is supposed to be one you don't notice but that's the not the case with AEW refs.

Was just looking through the AEW roster on wikipedia seeing who had what role. Like never knew Luther was a producer. And Serpentico also wrestles without his mask under a different name.

But saw they have signed a NBA player named Satnam Singh. Maybe I missed it posted here but was announced on 23rd September.

Ya, I'd assume he starting from scratch so imagine it'll be a while before we see him. Since he'll be training with QT, Cody and Dustin, he'll do well though. Probably a similar situation to Ogogo where getting recognisable talent like that in markets you're trying to expand into will do well business wise.

    Card for tonight.

Delighted to see Deeb back. Hope she can have good luck with injuries going forward and goes on a good run. Her and Thunder Rosa should be on a lot more Dynamites moving forward imo. Shida as well especially ahead of the likes of the bunny.

I love how tony rotates most of the roster in and out and gives those talent even if they are green as grass a chance to have tv time seeing the same talent every week just burns the audience out then you see some fans complaining that the WWE use the same talent every week then they complain that aew don't use the talent they want to see every week.

There were reports recently that the EVPs aren't involved a lot in booking anymore but Khan said he took more control of booking at the end of 2019 and not recently.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,070 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I would assume Shida will win. They're talking about her getting 50 wins so doing it tonight rather than on some random Dark would make sense

In an interview released Wednesday by PWInsider, AEW president and head of creative Tony Khan said he will make "a huge announcement" on tonight's anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite.

Khan also promised great wrestling along with some additional "fun announcements" as well.

Khan was asked for a hint about who the "joker" participant is for tonight's Casino Ladder Match.

"I will not give you any insight into who the joker is going to be. I will not tell you that, but I will go back to the announcement instead and tell you that it's been something a long time coming. I'm very excited about it and proud of it and it'll really add a lot to the company, I think."
