Anyone experience a vodafone outage?

I'm in Carlow/Laois and my vodafone broadband (siro if it matters) has been down for over an hour now. I can't seem to find out if it's just me.

If you're wondering, i did pay my bill 😁

Seems to be nationwide according to the posts on their twitter.

I'm using cloudflare dns on my desktop and it's fine (1.1.1.1) same trick doesn't work on mobile for either wifi or data for some reason I get an unable to connect to private dns error.

Yes, unless I connected to a VPN which is abroad for work... then I could get the internet.. all very strange.

Can't make calls, can't use broadband.

I'm in Westmeath.

Their app is useless, all it shows is phone numbers which I can't call, there's no chat and they don't even show you an email address to contact.

Bloody useless.

I can't even report the fault to them FFS.

My PPPoE connection is giving an invalid account or password error on my Asus router now too. Can't connect at all to even change dns.

The wifi is down on my modem but oddly my nvidia shield tv Pro which is connected to the modem via data cable is working, I've tested Netflix and my iptv they work perfectly, I can connect to nordvpn no problem but Disney+ won't connect.

Changing dns to 8.8.8.8 has now worked for me on my router.

What does that mean? How do I do that?

Also out here in north Kildare, mobile data and home internet. Mobile calls ok. I'm using my work phone (Three) as a hotspot.

Facebook has gone down and the whoel World seems to have gone potty, vodafone is gone...O2/Three is running like a dog. Even some of the kids app's for school are not working.

Depends on the router you have.

Usually browse to 192.168.1.1 on your phone/pc/laptop. Log in with user admin, and password from the sticker on your router.

Drop down at the top right hand corner select Expert Mode or something like that. Find DNS (usually under the Internet option), and change DNS address to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. The details for your router might be wrong. I'm not using the vodafone router so can't check for sure. Perhaps others here can check.

This worked for me.

The only extra thing you have to do is make sure you are in expert mode. Otherwise the DNS menu won't show up.

back for me 10 mins, changing dns settings made no difference, just wasn't connecting over the fibre

Anytime I've had a problem with my Vodafone broadband (FTTH) it has been a DNS problem. First thing I tried when it went down this evening. Configuring DNS manually on the router usually fixes it.

Mine was done for probably over an hour, finally back up.

Was unable to contact Vodafone support, but was trying the whole time

Yeah with Vodafone in East Co. Meath, Vodafone landline and also mobile was gone from about 5:30pm to about 8pm, the landline (fibre) was very slow approx 2mbps, but getting faster now at about 50mbps

its possible that using say the google dns might have a small performance hit over using vodafones

and if you use say google, then they will see all the sites you look at even if they are not within the google environment, that may bother you it may not

Is your internet not working? Is the phone plugged into the router or to the wall? If its the phone, you might be using the internet basically for your calls rather than the phone line

if its fibre then I think that is the case for sure

My Eir broadband and Vodafone 4G have been up and down all evening.

Looks like a major DNS issue, so it doesn't matter where you are, what your provider is, what application you are trying to access etc, everything is going to be flakey until it's solved.

I changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 on the Eir router and that seems to have solved that side of it for now.

My eir fttc has been down since 2pm Saturday, absolutely no sync showing on the router. Something happened over the weekend there was a major issue across the country
