Mick will not make it to Q3 we all know that but I also think.

    Leclerc

    Stoll

    Tsunado and

    Russell will not make it.

He didn’t have much pace and was tenth then sainz put in a fast lap to knock him out.

The track is getting quicker the more laps the cars are putting in, especially now the rain is gone.

Back then I think it just happened to be his last timed lap was a lap behind of better times - but those on better times had to do the laps in conditions still far from perfect - so I'm not taking anything away from Mick.

He thought he had done enough a good 90 seconds before the session was over so had came into the garage and Mick Schumacher beat it.

Honestly no idea, he didn't have a great lap but don't know if there was traffic on his last run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,475 ✭✭✭✭flazio

100% chance of rain my backside.

    This too shall pass.

Have to say! This Red Bull livery is gorgeous! I’d like to see it as a permanent paint job

Come on Max come on Bottas. I want to see Hamilton only get 3rd so he will start the race in 13th would be good.

This commentary is doing my head in.

Anyways, I'm going Bottas for Pole and Perez to be behind Gasly.

That front wing camera lap was great.

    Very poor from Perez.

Commentary is atrocious on Sky. Absolutely awful. I hope Button is not doing the race tomorrow.

Awe that was not a great qualifying session a pity. Was really hoping Max could pull something special out of the bag.

Max to get a great start tomorrow I think and get ahead of Bottas to win the race.

How did Perez get a new RB deal? He is so poor, especially in qualifying. Consistently fails to deliver.

P11 for Hamilton. Mercedes seem to be much more dominant than RB here, Max hasn’t quite been able to get it together.

If he can get a good start, I think Hamilton can look to finish ahead of max and stretch his lead a bit. But the decision to start in the middle of the pack might come back to haunt him. Will be interesting!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,773 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

I've no doubt Max will get ahead fairly lively.

Perez poor again today, at least he is ahead of Hamilton and will be asked to do the job of holding him up.

You should have heard it yesterday. They had some robot called Karun on was impossible to listen to I had to mute it everytime the robot came on. No apoligies from sky for the sound quality or anything.

I hope so to both and I also hope Perez makes it as hard as he possibly can for Lewis to pass him.

Awesome from LeClerc after being under pressure to make Q3

It's still a good result for Max. He can let Bottas shoot off into the distance for his last ever Grand Prix win if he wants to. All he has to do is finish ahead of Lewis and he regains the championship lead.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,819 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Max will be ahead after the first corner

We have countless examples of how poor a starter Bottas has been this season, I'd put my house on it happening again

Max will be on the inside for turn 1 also, so doesn't have as much work to do

The question is really how far Bottas falls down, will be in the undercut range of Max

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭thefa

Qualifying is poor. Is really inconsistent in races, seems to vary from running good races where something goes wrong to trying to force things to happen and making mistakes.

While he’s not been good enough, it’s not quite at the Albon and Gasly levels. The fact that he won a race helps too and the constant revolving door of second drivers was probably not helping the team. I think the drivers market was not flush from a RB point of view this year but could be interesting come next season especially if there’s a shake up in the pecking order.

I think he needs to beat Norris to come in 4th for the season to be considered good enough and even at that, needs to pull his weight more for the constructors championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭waynescales1

I’d stick Alonso in the 2nd RB seat, spice things up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,475 ✭✭✭✭flazio

It's probably expensive enough taking over Honda's power unit development. They're building a new unit (The Webbhard Building) for the engine. It'd be ironic if that money started going to the one big critic of Honda these past 5 years. Alonso probably wouldn't even allow a Honda powered taxi bring him to the hotel.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,340 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Looks like there won't be any rain during the race but hopefully we get some to spice things up. Fully expect Verstappen to beat Bottas off the line and be ahead into turn one, only be a matter of laps before Hamilton is in 2nd. He might get caught up in some turn one antics but I'd much prefer to see him battling Verstappen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

I dunno, it’s a short stint to T1 and although Verstappen has the inside line, it’s also the dirty side of the track! Knowing Bottas’ current “nothing to lose” situation, it might be wise to be less aggressive at turn one of they go into it wheel to wheel and try to pass him later on the first lap if the opportunity arises!

Obvs if Verstappen gets the jump on Bottas he could be ahead by the time the reach T1 and it’s open road ahead of him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭thefa

Would love to see Alonso in a top car again but don’t think any of the top teams would risk unsettling their young talent for it. Alonso’s reputation proceeds him which might be a bit unfair given he seems to have become more team oriented in his time off.

Max/Alonso and Lewis/George would be some battle though in this season’s cars. 4 of the top drivers all in the best cars plus the Alonso Hamilton history. Maybe Alpine can be competitive more regularly with the regulation changes.

    Adam Cooper

    @adamcooperF1

A couple of hours to the start of the Turkish GP and it's still wet, grey and overcast, and that doesn't look likely to change...

Gonna be carnage on the wet track.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,061 ✭✭✭Hijpo

We know Bottas doesn't do braking into a slippy turn 1 at a race start too well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

The Sky coverage is worst I have ever seen it, they have talked almost exclusively Mercedes. Barely a mention that any other team or driver even exists

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,593 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Sky could really do with a non-UK contributor like Rosberg every weekend to add a different perspective.

Get Kimi in for next year!

Jesus Crofty is annoying. He literally spoke solidly for 4 minutes over team radios and all. All to explain the stats if Lewis likely winning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Sky asking every single person the important questions, how will that affect Lewis

    This sh1te has to go.

Wonder what Bottas tactics will be at the start today.

Will he try and win the race and show he has a backbone or will he be submissive once again and do the deed for his team-mate.

If he does the deed, then hopefully Perez will return the favour. Be good to see Toto whine as Mercedes like to give it out but don't like taking it themselves.

Sky F1 coverage is getting as bad as BBC used to be in terms of the Hamilton obsession.

Was the audio out of sync for the national anthem or was she lip syncing?

I'll guess BOT-VER-HAM if there's not too much drama.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,773 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

I thought it would have sounded better had it been lip syncing.

Nice to see him get a good result.

Race is going to be great. Re: syncing of sound, I find the Sky F1 audio is a little ahead of the picture all the time, nearly a second. It's noticeable when the commentators react to camera changes quicker than I can!

I'm so sick of sky having all the coverage because its just awful. An F1 streaming service would be great like America get

Yeah I never watch post or pre race anymore. Reckon F1 are v lucky Netflix came in with DTS or they'd be down a lot of viewers

Verstappen was keeping well out of the way of Bottas then.
