Seems like FIFA 19 was the last "new" FIFA game on Switch, 20, 21 & 22 have all been Legacy Edition, and therefore are reskins of FIFA 19.

FIFA 22 (Nintendo's site): FIFA 22 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 21 without any new development or significant enhancements.

FIFA 21 (EA's site): FIFA 21 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay features from FIFA 20 without any new development or significant enhancements.

FIFA 20 (EA's site): The FIFA 20 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 19 without any new development or significant enhancements.

You think they wouldn't get away with asking for €40 for that, but they do 😂

You have to give them credit for the lack of lies and audacity with Fifa 2021.

Well that's it. It's all shameless and brazen, yet clearly, there's a market for it; the minimal development effort presumably never outpacing the money made from Switch owners who might buy these "newer" games.

Holy ****... a news story about working conditions in a big studio that's actually positive! Makes a pleasant change.

How are the workers paid I wonder. Presumably monthly and it's set in stone, otherwise losing a day of work/pay ain't that great.

It says in the article that their salaries won't change.

    It's official.

That had been the gaming world's worst kept secret for the past few weeks; give us the (technical) details Rockstar, damnit *shakes fist*

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,175 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

That theme music certainly brought back some memories.

I'm sure the GTA III soundtrack will be mostly untouched in this edition compared to whatever licencing issues VC/SA will face.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Those teat still have something to give.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,808 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Hhhmmm i don't mind the old look if we can set least have modern modern aiming. Anyway, buying the **** out of this for nostalgia alone.

"Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will feature across-the-board upgrades including graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements for all three titles, while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals. We’re extremely excited to share more about these groundbreaking titles in the coming weeks — stay tuned!"

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,602 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I said I'd only get it depending on what or how it's upgraded, but I know I'll probably end up getting it regardless, at the very least just to play through Vice City again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,911 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Please god the Vice City soundtrack remains intact

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,320 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

Wasn't a release of this already affected by licensing issues ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,911 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Yep but they would have been relying on the licenses sought originally for any of the versions out there since it was originally released.

Hoping they renew the lapsed ones and retain the ones still permitted for this collection.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,535 ✭✭✭✭Varik

The license only lapsed for some of the Michael Jackson songs for the originals, the ports since would be under those terms but this would be newly negotiated.

I think music rights have actually gotten easier since back in the day so no reason it won't be all there.

Will they get the rights to the Love Fist songs though? I think they're quite protective of licencing their songs, I've never heard them on anything else.

I don't imagine the Jedi Knight games have aged well, wasn't massively impressed at release. And Republic commando while being decent is massively overrated for being a prequel game that doesn't suck. Pod racer though should still be decent.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Jedi Academy was absolutely brilliant, and the gameplay holds up well enough. Still one of the best (maybe best) lightsaber combat in any game.

    Graphically, not so much.

And still no sign of the Star Wars Kinect remaster. For shame.

Ninja Warrior: The quest to summit Mt. Midoriyama returns as G4 attains the exclusive linear broadcasting rights to SASUKE, better known as Ninja Warrior in the United States, from Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc. (TBS). G4 will air all 167 episodes of the legendary competition series that pits heroic athletes of all types from pro gymnasts, to fishermen, to comedians against a four-stage, formidable, and/or impossible obstacle course. G4 will also present three tournaments never-before-seen in the United States, SASUKE 35, 36, and 37.

ESL Gaming: G4 has partnered with ESL Gaming, the world’s leading esports and gaming lifestyle company, to produce and broadcast several prime-time esports programs, a first for ESL Gaming in the US and Canada. G4’s exclusive linear broadcast rights make it the premier destination for ESL Pro Tourevents including the IEM Katowice 2022.

Dungeons & Dragons Limited Series: Coming off the immense success of D&D Live 2021 featuring notable celebrities like Jack Black, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Smith, and DrLupo, G4 will continue its partnership with Wizards of the Coast with an all-new, limited-run series to premiere on G4 this Fall. The series will follow four campaigns with a mix of G4 talent, veteran D&D players, and celebrities for a new generation of D&D fans.

For the day that's in it. Budget had a tax break for games designed, produced or tested here in Ireland.

The relief will be available at a rate of 32%, on eligible expenditure of up to a limit of €25m per project.

Hopefully this has a similar impact as it did for film and TV.

Better late than never. Back when I was trying to make a career in the industry and seriously thinking of setting up an indie studio, Ireland had a big opportunity to poach talent and studios away from the UK while the floundered with introducing their own cut. Would have seriously pursued it if this tax cut was there as it would have made it viable for me.

Apparently it's a full €70/€80 release on consoles. Get to be f'd
