Mason Crosby redemption? GB surely won't try for the 1st down?

    Packers win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Bengals threw that away with their attitude on their last drive.

Crosby I never doubted you 🥵🥵

49ers in a hole early, in such a big game to try to stay in touch with Arizona and LA Rams. Just say the Lance interception. Pretty bad throw..

    TD Chicago.

I wonder how annoyed dolphin fans feel when watching Justin Herbert playing in LA.

Joe Burrow taken to hospital for a throat contusion

Only got to see one replay but it looked like Lance crossed the line a few minutes ago. It was called short and that decision was upheld.

the game of the season so far , jamall chase is going to be some star , great to see joe mixon playing with a great team , bengals are a play off team already

Matt Nagy being forced to use a timeout between scoring a TD and kicking the extra point is so on-brand for his teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

They have a nice lead and you are still complaining. 😁

Because it's year 4 and this simple thing is still an issue most weeks. We constantly waste time outs on stupid stuff like late playcalls or the entire unit being late onto the field.

It just cost us big time when we got the ball back on our own 40 with 50 seconds left. If we had a timeout we could potentially have put another 3 on the board.

Oh Daniel Jones is shaken up on that play.

Ugly game in Vegas but delighted to win especially with our upcoming schedule. Wasn't expecting it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well anybody questioning Shanahan's decision to go with Jimmy G over Lance were put back in their box today. Lance is 13 of 25 for 153 yards 0 TDs and 1 int.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,384 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

It was the same for the eagles in Carolina earlier today. Neither the eagles or bears will win high style points but a win is a win in this league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i really dont understand the arguement for him any more 3 years ago yes but not now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,075 ✭✭✭Christy42

And 89 yards rushing so ended up with 291 yards of offense from Lance with 1 turn over. Definitely needs improvement but this team was not looking like it was getting play offs with Jimmy G and I am not sure Jimmy G gets 290 yards going vs a tough AZ front. Let the kid learn at game speed.

I feel like most of the kickers in the league got together for a massive bender last night and were hung over today. So many missed extra points and field goals.

    He so is.

Between him, Ekeler and a lesser extent Allen, my fantasy team is turbo Charged lately.

Trailing by 35 points at one stage, I ended up on 150 and winning by seven.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

You can't let him learn as a starter, he'll lose his confidence quickly and start second guessing his decisions. This is why you sit a rookie for a year if you have the opportunity.

QB's who've sat for a year include Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, for three years, and Phillip Rivers. Eli Manning started late in his first season. All those guys have had very successful careers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Lance clearly isn't ready yet. He needs time, he needs to sit and learn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Great start for the Bills, hold the Chiefs to a field goal on the opening drive of the game and then go down and Josh Allen rushes for a TD to take a 7-3 lead.

Bills had 52 rushing yards on that drive, the Chiefs have been awful against the run all season to this point.

Great first half for the Bills, they lead 24-13. Mahomes struggling to find open receivers quite often in the first half. He's the leading rusher to this point with 52 yards, Allen second with 41.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

The Bills are excellent on both side of the ball but FMD, how does Sorensen keep getting snaps over Thornhill? On both plays that he was beaten badly uyou can see Mathieu throwing his hands up in the air in the background. Misses too many tackles as well.

Great day of football overall, loved all the kicking dramas earlier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Yeah the Sorenson thing has to be looked at. I'm wondering though if it's a thing where he has no help and it's affecting his decision, like delaying him from making a move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

And this one is done, a pick 6 off Hill's hands. And CEH is injured. The Chiefs look so average on both sides of the ball this season and it's the Chargers' division now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Wow, a shocker of a roughing the passer call on Clark gets the Bills out of a spot of bother. Some very dodgy decisions for both teams in this one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Josh Allen has been brilliant, great to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Josh Allen has to be favourite for regular season MVP at this stage. That was a beat down, don't think Andy Reid's Chiefs have experienced that in some time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,431 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Bills have been very impressive so far this season, sadly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Fractured hand for Joe Thuney, that's pretty big.

Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, Ryan, Stafford, Big Ben, Peyton, Cam Newton, Wilson all started pretty early in their first season or from game 1. You can do it both ways and you absolutely can have someone learn as a starter. Either way starting will be a new game from practice. The game has also changed and QBs are coming out more and more ready for the pros. The only one in the last 15 years on your list is Mahomes (though you could happily add Lamar).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,075 ✭✭✭Christy42

In fairness they have the 5th highest scoring offense in the league and have had a pretty tough schedule outside of the Eagles. Their defense has been pretty horrible though. The offense is still a long way above average even if they have dropped a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Fair points and the schedule gets a bit easier now but Mahomes already has as many interceptions this season as he did in 2020 and they've struggled to get Hill open against any good defense. Maybe Josh Gordon can get into a groove and I was surprised he was only targeted once for 11 yards (I had a 20/1 multi bet on the game and needed him to get over 14.5 yards for it to come in 😭).

We're only 5 games in but I definitely think the Chargers will win the AFC West comfortably and that horrible defense means the Chiefs won't come anywhere near to making a run in the playoffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,075 ✭✭✭Christy42

I agree that the offense is worse than previous seasons and it is the Charger's division to lose. I don't want to count the Chiefs out of making a run in the play offs just yet but the odds seem against them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,212 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

Would it be fair to say the Chiefs haven’t exactly helped themselves in terms of team building since the emergence of Mahomes? Hill and Kelce were already there and I can’t think of a single impact player that they have drafted on either side of the ball since. Drafting Mahomes will give Veach a lot of slack naturally, but I don’t think he has covered himself in glory since, and perhaps the cracks are starting to show. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh IDK

They still have the talent to find some form and make a run later on but I’d agree that you’d have to strongly favour the Chargers for the division at this stage, and the Bills are probably going to get the #1 seed so they will have a much more difficult path in January than what they are used to

Of the top ten passing leaders and passing TD leaders of all time seven sat to start their careers and three started. The three QB's with the most Superbowl wins of all time, and they were all considered the GOAT towards the end of their careers, Bradshaw, Montana and Brady, all sat to start their careers.

We could go at this all day but there's lots of evidence to suggest that sitting for a year is a really good option.

Sometimes it's not an option due to injuries or how poor the other QB's on the roster are. I was hoping that Mac Jones got to start for the Patriots this year because I felt he wouldn't learn anything sitting behind Cam Newton due to the fact that rushing is a huge part of his game. In an ideal world I'd have liked Jones to sit a year behind a pocket passer.

I'm sure you aren't going to change your mind on it and I won't change mine either but I think the evidence points to sitting a year as the best option.

In pre-season I would have leaned towards sitting Lance for similar reasons to why I wanted Trubisky to sit in 2017: Small school QB with limited experience starting. No need to rush him. But seeing him on the field now the Niners can clearly move the ball with him. He's not getting beat up and while he'll have his rookie moments he's not "seeing ghosts" as a certain QB once said. I think he's capable of starting and it benefitting him more than hurting him.

Saying that, going with Lance this early when you really don't have to (Jimmy G is a capable QB unlike Mike Glennon in 2017) would be a big call for Shanahan to make after the bye so I think he'll go back to Jimmy G for a month or two. If he went with Lance now and he started struggling big time then benching him to protect him would be a confidence destroyer.

I think that’s fair. They traded away a first round pick for Frank Clark and that hasn’t gone great overall. Their last four first picks have been Breeland Speaks (bust), Mecole Hardman, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Nick Bolton so they haven’t hit on anything special. Juan Thornhill started well but hasn’t been trusted since coming back from his knee surgery.

This year they went big on fixing the o-line and that’s actually going well considering they’re all fresh faces. The problem is it didn’t leave much wiggle room to address the other glaring issues and there’s a lot of cracks right now. I heard a good point on a Chiefs podcast today - the offense was playing slow against the Bills because it would mean less time on the field for the defense (the Chiefs had possession for 5 minutes more across the game). That’s a damning assessment if there’s any truth to it.

The Rams are my current favourites to go the whole way.

I fear that if Trey Lance doesn't learn to protect himself better on the run he'll end up on IR sooner rather than later. I cringed at some of the collisions in yesterday's game and I kept thinking about RGIII in his rookie year. One play in the 2nd half he ran towards the sideline and instead of running out of bounds, he tried to cut inside and got tackled hard by JJ Watt. He'll learn but these types of decisions doesn't lend itself to a long career in the NFL. It was a tough day also for some QBs like Daniel Jones, Joe Burrow and Taysom Hill.

Fields is doing the same. He took a huge hit to the ribs yesterday (exactly like the one in the game against Clemson in Jan) despite saying he wouldn't be attempting that spin move after what happened previously. Think it's a case of them trying to impress and doing too much.
