Get the Max Mark!! Didn't see Allen's one... 😁

Well, that were disappointing on two counts... No max, and Wilson threw his chances away.

Excellent snooker from Lu there... Has a squeak on last red now!

WD to Trump.. He was too good in the end... A good attempt by Lu, but he just didn't land plum on the yellow. That was all she wrote for Lu Ning...

Some great matches on tomorrow... Could do with a red button... for the morning one anyway.

Matthew Stevens v Mark Allen 10.00 Live? probably on the app only, for the early fixture 😑

Ronnie v Yan 12.45 Live...., Followed by:

Higgins v Williams Live in a battle of "The Class of...."

    Evening sesh:

Judd v J Robertson 6.45 Live.... Followed by:

    Selby v Dave Live

Some cracking ties there Rachel... Ronnie v Bingtao the pick for me Rachel, just ahead of Higgins v Willo..

Angles: "I'm like a kid in a sweet shop".... That's my prediction for tomorrow!

In the early matches (none of which could be view live on Eurosport on television 😓 bah humbug) Mags has just beaten Highfield 4-2, Allen trounces Matthew 4-1, and in perhaps the biggest shock so far, Robbo gets beat 4-1 by Ricky Walden!

Yan wasn't without chances, but 1-0 to Ronnie.

An interesting tie tonight is Maguire v Mark Allen (not on TV though)... iirc Allen beat Stevie 10-8 I think in the UK open final not too long ago, and with the combination of them being good mates, and Allen not having ever done much in his home comp, I wouldn't mind who wins it. Would like to see Maguire win a big one though...

That was a good opening frame. Yan played some good shots, came close but Ronnie came up with a great finish to nick it. Always has loved beating up these young pretenders!

Eyecatching result Page beating Lisoswki 4-0. Good on him, has had a few tough years on tour, likely going to be his best tournament finish so far. Just keep sticking at it and the results will come.

Ronnie going very well until he got 'het up' by some idiot standing & moving around in the crowd. Since then he has been a little off boil and with a bit of luck and some excellent play Yan has got it to 2-2. Frame 5 will be key you'd feel ...

Yeah, first 3 frames he's near 100% pot success and then went off. Played a couple of weird shots F4, focus seemed to drift. That said, Yan left the door ajar here, still not done yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,090 ✭✭✭Genghis

Great last frame that, bit of everything. Looking forward to the finale. Ronnie favourite again.

Sublime clearance by Ron there! Some composure... It wasn't the most difficult of clearances, mind, but he still had to do it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Great clearance but Yan should have finished it. Big test for him now. Not to win this from that position would hurt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭Glenman

Not many could make the clearance, great composure under pressure

Got a savage plant, but no pot to follow... He's favourite now, the boy from Chigwell!

Fair match for a Thursday afternoon in Belfast, crowd getting value for their tenner

    That's gotta be it now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,102 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Wtf was Yan doing not putting Ronnie back in there ?

He's not too pushed about that now... How fortunes can turn in this game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Wouldn't bet against another twist yet.

    Fair play to Yan

Ah well, I won't get to see Ronnie on Saturday. Hopefully Yan is still in it then, would like to see him.

Thanks to the halfwit in the audience ;)

Ronnies safety just not as sharp as it can be, made the difference in the end. Good for Yan, another important win for him. Very enjoyable contest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Safety was hopeless at the end. Every one of them lest was 5 or 6 was bad!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

    Willo clearing the table already

A few nervy ones there.. MJW nearly missed that recent opening red too after Higgins' miss on a simple black.. Has a 2 frame cushion now.. Might be needed 😊

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Willo floating around here. Bout of gout and all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Shaun going well. Never did much in Belfast. Almost a home tournament for him now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Higgins lookin’ like he spent 6 months as a cast away, Williams ambling around with 1 shoe on, and the younger generation still can’t get near them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Sickener if Higgins takes it from here

That was a bit surreal 😮

Cueball needed to go about 5 feet to the left there ref!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,102 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Trump hasn’t been at his best but Robertson as close as he has pushed Judd will be annoyed at some very loose easy shots in the last 20 minutes...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Will coverage continue for Gilbert v Selby on Eurosport?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

That was a big choke from Jimmy there, no way to sugar coat it. Bit unlucky not to finish plum on blue but yellow wasn't that difficult and had to do nothing with the cue ball. Annoying for him cos Judd was there to be taken tonight.

Allen-Mags was a good contest, trick missed not having allen on tv table imo. On at 10am earlier, i know he loves a good moan but I wouldn't be happy with that if I was him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Really good day of snooker today and not quite over yet.

Should get a good, (and noisy) crowd in Friday night for Judd v Mark Allen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Is Allen-Trump confirmed for tomorrow evening? It's listed on the schedule for 12 midday which would be a bit unfortunate if true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Great clearance from DG for 1-3. Giving Selby a taste of his own medicine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,524 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Nice double by Gilbert on the green to clear up and beat the world champ. Unusual to see a double played at that slow pace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Pretty sure they mentionned the evening session whe interviewing Judd about playing Mark.

Can't believe they couldn't move the timing, and they would want to when they need to flog a few more tickets.

Would sure make a lot more sense as an evening kick off. Ensures a near full house early doors i suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

I'm sure these decisions sit with the broadcaster really, Eurosport in this case.

When they double up and show the afternoon on Quest, that might sway them into putting on the main match in the afternoon, like Ronnie vs Yan, as they might ironically get a bigger audience by the time Quest is added on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

I don't understand what they're doing with Mark this week. He was complaining a bit when they put his L32 match on in the afternoon instead of the evening. Then his L16 match is played at 10am, not even tv broadcast while his L16 is shunted to the outside table. And now he plays top seed and it's first up, like the warm up act. I can envisage him having a moan about this and he'll be well entitled imo. Bizarre and nonsensical scheduling.

Jimmy and Angles both make Allen favourite .... It's true Trump aint been firing... Looking forward to seeing 'the pistol' ... Haven't seen him at all this week.. If he was on live on the main channel, I wasn't watching that day.

Not sure how there can be a great atmosphere at the venue, when the fans are only on one side.. Think Ronnie likened it to being in an interview, or something like that.

Edit - looking at it there just now, it looks as if there's a crowd on at least 2 sides.. 😊 Gwan Mark!

    Like playing down the club.

Even if you are heading back up to World number 1

Nice little 'rubber the green' landing behind the green there 😋 And Trump's had a bit of luck too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,102 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Wonder why Mark didn’t take on the red to the right middle before Judd got in...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Trump has upped his level today but just far too slack from Allen. Really needs this frame, 0-4 would be the end to all intents and purposes.

??????? Very strange... Frameball missed,.. Could/should have gone for the easier red..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Great Green at pace. A little too good
