As a counterpoint, I ordered an item at 7pm on Friday evening and it arrived at 10am yesterday morning. So all good.

Whereabouts are these failed delivery locations?

I'm in west Dublin and never have a problem.

In fact, sometimes they are a day earlier than expected. I got a package on Saturday, Sunday and just got an out for delivery notification today (Tuesday). All on time.

Only issue is that the driver calls the mobile before delivery and most of the time it's on silent so may not hear it.

But they ring the intercom anyway.

I've had about 3 "lost" deliveries in the past year. All very well priced confectionery, under £10 but should have been more than I was charged. Don't think they ever left the UK, got refunded for all.

Ordered a few times in the last week or so. Two orders Thursday - one arrived Saturday, one on Monday. Order placed late Sunday arrived today. In general I'd say the bulk of my orders in the last six months have been on time if not a day early

Yep after a bumpy start to with Brexit out two day deliveries are pretty standard and on time.

i needed to buy a book from Amazon in the last few days.

I thought it was odd when i came to pay that the price went up for the usual extra VAT price from UK to Ireland. So checked on the invoice, and was being charged VAT on a zero rate VAT item for both UK and Ireland.

I phoned them up today and asked why was this happening? They gave me a £5 voucher for the inconvenience, but asked for this to be escalated up, but the guy just wanted me off the phone, so not sure they will do anything about it.

So i would check out any 0% rate VAT items you may have brought and call them for your refund.

Usually the system does a review after a few days or a week and issues a refund.

The actual rules are which are correct on Royal mail site which is also align with the aviation rules:

Batteries including those sent with/without or connected to an electronic device

Batteries not connected to, not installed or not posted with the equipment / device it is intended to power >>

Batteries that are classified as dangerous goods by the latest edition of the Technical Instructions for Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air published by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) including wet spillable lead acid/ lead alkaline batteries (such as car batteries), lithium batteries when not sent with or contained in equipment, used alkaline metal, nickel metal hydride (NiMH), nickel cadmium (NiCd) and zinc-air batteries, and damaged batteries of any type. Please note this includes power banks.

    • International  - Not allowed in the mail
    • UK - Not allowed in the mail

I think An Post just shorted this to no batteries. As the only person who enforces this is the person at the desk if it's inside a device then say no battery. You are breaking An Post but not an international aviation rule.

Anything I've gotten lately from Amazon that has batteries has been delivered by courier, everything else delivered by An Post

Yesterday I got a refund of export fees from an item ordered on 9th April. It seems very late. Over 5 months later.

What's the deal with Amazon now? No taxes and duties are showing in price breakdown like they used too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,249 ✭✭✭SourSessions

Two deliveries this weekend in Cork, both via Amazon Logistics. A first for me anyway.

Meant to post earlier about the infamous 96 bottles of hand wash that was going for just over a tenner at the time. Like others I got several emails from Amazon advising that they couldnt get stock etc despite the supplier telling me they had plenty of stock. Anyhow got a final email from Amazon 2 weeks ago to say the order was now cancelled as it would have required a specialist carrier and they dont have those.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 6,340 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sheep Shagger

Was wondering, I've been getting the emails too but assume I'll get the cancellation email this week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 46,028 ✭✭✭✭muffler

They were sending "delaying" emails for a long time but 2 weeks ago they finally cancelled my order so I'd think you will get your cancellation shortly. I'll copy and paste the email and hopefully it somes out OK.

    "Hello,

Unfortunately, due to delivery restrictions, we have had to cancel your order #202-XXXXXXXX for the (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08MV32BG1).

You haven’t been charged for this item.

Although the amount of these substances in these products is usually quite limited, these products need to be transported in a certain way to ensure that they are handled with care and are therefore assigned to a specialist carrier. Unfortunately this means that we can’t dispatch this to any destination outside of mainland UK.

If you have a subscription for this item, please cancel your subscription by going to Your Account (www.amazon.co.uk/your-account) and clicking 'Manage Subscribe & Save Items' in the Orders section.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused and hope to see you again soon.

    Regards,

    Customer Service Department"

Do you have to pay the postman/courier this fee when its delivered? Because the item stays the same price and I dont think Amazon would pay that fee?

You pay that fee to Amazon at the time of ordering.

does it mean its coming from EU?

Re:echo flex, can it play radio stations? Tia

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,749 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Same as any other Alexa device, so it will. You might need to ask for stations in odd ways (eg if I ask to play newstalk it won't, if I ask for newstalk fm it will).

If I sign up for a promotion, £6 off 50 gift card

Do I need to check that I'm qualified afterwards , the t+C's have certain conditions

Or does the fact that I'm registered for the promotion mean I'm qualified, for instance a t+c is that you havent bought a gift card in last 3 years ?

The speaker is not brilliant on it (not really intended to be used to listen to radio/music), passable for talk stations but forgot about it for music.
