Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Signing Ronnie over a proper midfielder that was badly needed was so stupid.

But heyho Ronnie sells jerseys and is good for social media hits.

The thing about the Champions League is that most managers tend to be tactically astute.

Atalanta are a team who have an ethos and stick to it. Every player knows their role. Missing 4 out of their regular back 5 players but because they are well coached, the other players can come in and play like regulars. Work for each other.

Everything that Man United are not. Individuals and egos.

Sancho sitting on the bench thinking he should have stayed in Germany where he would be playing football every week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,085 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    What a brilliant tackle Demiral.

    Rashford looks dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Whatever about Ronnie going there, I just cannot understand Sancho going there. He had a year to think about it and decided to play for Ole rather than continue his development at Dortmund.

Ronaldo is an absolute passenger in this game. Should be immediately hooked. Offering nothing apart from outstretched arms and strops.

Rashford do look very lively but the United players just look defeated like there's no belief in how they are playing

    Can't miss these chances.

That's a point I often think about. Despite protestations from United fans they've had some dross win league titles with them because they did what they were supposed to fuckin do. I'll hear Arsenal fans complain about 2 players being out and that's why we get beaten by other midtable sides. Back in the day it barely mattered what side United put out, once half the players who started were fit and professional the other 5/6 players did the special things.

Rashford having a mare. Like that's 2 absolute sitters from massive opposition mistakes missed in 5 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

That was some miss. We may not even see Ole after half time

Imagine if Atalanta had had a decent night's kip. The sh1thousery with the hotel fire alarm doesn't seem to have had the desired effect.

Rashford probably should have scored by now, they badly need a goal.

The longer they don't score in the second half, the louder the boos will be.

If Atalanta score next, I would imagine the atmosphere will be fairly toxic.

Atalanta could yet do a Villarreal here. They do give plenty of chances at the back. Will be an interesting second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Sancho be wondering WTF was he thinking

Cavani to come on and score is a great bet imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Gasperini looks like a mini Ancelotti

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Can't blame Ole for some of those misses the Man U players had in the half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭tanko

Atalantas defence is a mess, anything could happen in this yet.

Utd still very much in this, could be 4-2 up with a bit of composure

Rashford has had 3 big chances. One was flagged late for offside but that was after he hit the shot wide. To be fair he is coming back from injury but he scored at the weekend. You'd think that if it was Greenwood on the end of those 3 chances, the scoreline would be different. He's a quality finisher.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

    Well he is still manager

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

There is the chance you want Ronnie to take when you keep him on the pitch walking around doing nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Game on. Get in there, Rashford.

Rashford with a lovely finish after missing 3 easy chances earlier. What a weird player he is.

Lol you'd be happy if you took the overs on the yellows

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,085 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    Atalanta are collapsing here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Malinovskiy on is a worry.

Atalanta coming back into it now. This is a gripping game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    The captain delivers! 2-2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    Ole back at the wheel.

All joking aside, that's a team playing for the manager. He hasn't lost the dressing room anyway, whatever he said at half-time has worked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

They've had an all nighter so it's not surprising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    Ronnie takes the wheel :)

    RONALDO!

    QUE GOLAZO!

    Good comeback, Atalanta falling apart.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

    and that's Ronaldo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

    Some jump and header.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Imagine doubting Ronaldo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Ole always seems to be able to pull out a big win when the pressure mounts to put him back at the wheel for another while.

United have played with good intensity in this half. I wonder will they be leggy on Sunday after having to dig so deep here?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Great workrate by Cavani, fantastic pro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Bloody hell, BT's commentary, talking as if this a comeback against Barcelona in a CL semi-final and not a group game.

Robbie Savage is painful and sounds like he's commentating on a darts match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

It's fairly clear this team wants him as manager. Maybe this is Utd's 2005?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Ole really should just go full on Wimbledon tactic wise and put everything on Ronnie's head longball up and two wingers crossing the ball into the box the whole time and just have Ronnie on the penalty spot for the whole game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,919 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

2007 would be better if they were to get to the final.

Who said Ronaldo doesn't work back and defend ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Good turnaround win. Pleased for Rashford and Maguire, and always nice to see a Ronaldo winner. Special mention to DDG as well who has been very good this season.

As expected, all is well for Solskjaer again...until Liverpool win at the weekend and the familiar cycle starts over.

I do think a halfway competent coach could do some special things with this side.

Ronaldo drops to his knees in celebration after the game, after winning the GW3 game of the group stage.
