Ronaldos celebration at the final whistle sums it up,

Drops to his knees at the ref and screams to male sure the camera get there pic,

Lets all forget it was a 3-2 home win against Atalanta in only the 3rd group game

The game threw up more questions about Oles United

Once again they struggled until he had to just throw everyone forward says a lot about his coaching and tactics, Basically only do wel lwhen they can go do what they like to get a goal

I'd blocked that out of my mind.... had to think for a few seconds who played the 2007 final.

Robbie Savage just said at the end ‘3 words ’, ‘VIVA RONALDO GOOD NIGHT’🙃

Im not a United fan but you got to give the player a break . Fair enough it wasnt the most important game but still had to be won, let him celebrate the win the way he wants.

He should take a leaf out of Klopp's book and give a very understated reaction to a dramatic win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,694 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Crazy game. Tbf, even though they were 2-0 down in the first half and had looked dire at times, they'd created a good few chances also.

In the second, they were able to up things, and Atalanta couldn't handle it, and fell apart really.

When I watch them the impression I get is that Solskjaer's tactics get them into trouble, and his attacking quality gets them out of trouble. To be fair to him, he still has the players playing for him.

But at the business end of competitions, the best teams won't give the goals back so easily.

The lack of analysis on this Livescore app is really annoying.

Anyways another win to paper over the cracks at Old Trafford. The state of Ronaldos celebration, a winning goal against a team 10 points behind the leaders in Serie A.

A home win to Atalanta in GW3 is hardly as big a win as anything that you reckon Klopp has celebrated.

And yeah this was a big win. Might want to look at the upcoming fixtures in the group.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Well it wasn't a win but a draw.

It was also not a celebration as you can see by Klopp's expression It was early in Klopp's reign and he was trying to reconnect the players and the fans and thank them for the support they would need in future games, especally when winning the Champion's league and Premier league.

All Liverpool fans understand but rival fans just don't seem to get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Klopp explained afterwards he did it because it was the best atmosphere he had heard at Anfield.

Anyway, to review: Ronaldo celebrating a winning goal to keep United's hopes of progressing in the Champions League alive = bad.

Klopp celebrating a 2-2 draw against West Brom at Anfield = good.

Glad we got that cleared up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Atalanta missing 4 starters and another went off at half time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

They was a drew that game and it was not a celebration against Westbrom, It was a thank you to the fans for not booing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Your rewriting history there pal

Liverpool player where told by the manager to go thank the fans for sitting through that crap and not turning on them

It was certainly not a celebration

Who was he signed over? Don't remember any deal been cancelled because he signed, you wouldn't be talking through your hoop again would you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

'It was the best atmosphere since I am here. It was great.'

0:30 seconds in. No rewriting of history.

And yet you will begrudge Ronaldo celebrating a crucial winner in a Champions League game!

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Yeah most of the league is at least 10 points behind Napoli. A very creative way of putting that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Again he done it for the fans

Can you not see the difference

One is a new manger trying to get his team in bad form on side with the fans

The other is a player looking to feed his own ego, probably because all week people have realized even with his goals he's actually made United a worse side,

As Scholes said just papering over the cracks

Jesus christ lads player celebrates winning a tight champions league game but wow.

Fucking curtain twitchers looking for ****

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

You're taking it out of context completely.

Best atmosphere he had experienced at Anfield as it was his 6th game in charge at Anfield after 2 months into his reign.

As stated already it was not a celebration of the result.

Either way you're deflecting that Ronaldo celebrating a victory (albeit dramatic) against a pretty average side at home in early CL stages, by dropping to his knees and clenching fists is somewhat over the top and shows how United have fallen.

Even with boards creaking to a halt, the MUFC LFC bullish!t lives on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 170 ✭✭Wolftown

That 'pretty average' team rocked up to Anfield less than a year ago and won 2-0.

No harm celebrating the win considering the circumstances coming from 2-0 down. Similar to celebrating a draw against West Brom? Maybe not.

I don't think they were missing four or five players in Anfield last season. Could be wrong though.

What part of "it was not a celebration" do you not understand?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Ronaldo is a legend ,he will score goals anywhere & every where he will go,

But all people are saying is the celebration after the final whistle sums him up its all about " Ronaldo" ,

Come on now even the die hardest of United fans had to have a little laugh of dropping to his knees like that beating Atalanta at home in 3rd group game, its was all about the media getting a shot of him , if Bruno or Rashford or someone else scored the winner he'd have just walked off the pitch with little or no celebration ,

Salah got the winner out in Madrid & if he had of dropped to his knees like that at the final whistle you'd be think WTF is going on here relax mate ,

Again Ronaldo is probably the greatest to ever play the game but it is what it is,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,114 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

You fairly tie yourself up in knots to throw backhanded compliments at Ronaldo. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • Registered Users Posts: 170 ✭✭Wolftown

    Sorry if I've upset you.

It certainly looks celebratory, so much so that Sky labelled the video 'Liverpool celebrating after 2-2 draw with West Brom'

Anyway, there are many many reasons to slag United these days. A player celebrating a comeback win after scoring the winner should rank way down the list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

You have to give him his due the guys is a goal scoring machine you can never take that away from him,

Plenty of teams in Germany stay on the pitch after the match to applaud the fans for their support, it doesn't always depend on the result. Klopp is German. Perhaps he felt that he wanted his players to show their appreciation for the fans getting behind them and helping them get a result. Its actually a nice touch and something I've always admited about German football. It wouldn't be a bad thing to see it in other countries.

I don't get why people are slagging Ronaldo celebrating a win, especially given the turn around and all the talk about Man U and OGS recently and himself, to some extent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Not upset at all but just find amazing that some view that event as a celebration.

Just because the hype machine that is Sky give it a click bait "celebration" title means that's what it was.

All Liverpool fans got immediately what was going on as Klopp had spoken about Anfield being quiet and how he felt "alone" at one match as people left so he was thanking them for staying till the end when they managed to get a goal.

It was bridge building between the players and the fans and led to increased attendances and better atmosphere at games which of course has helped the success.

Any rival fan who thinks they were celebrating a draw is just foolhardy. Also nobody was dropping to their knees with clenched fists.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

That exactly what happened , some people just refuse to listen to what actually went on

It's funny because the two incident where no where alike ,

In fact some of the Liverpool players you can see where embarrassed to do it but it was Jurgen's way of getting the fans on side as he obviously knew the team had big problems & the fans would need to be patient to see us evolve into what we are now

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,423 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

    Good observation.

Mod: Please, enough of the Klopp whataboutery. Please discuss the Champions League instead.

As a general point, it is advisable that where posters don't like a suggestion and wish to respond then the poster should engage with the suggestion made rather than countering with a 'what about X' style response because a poster happens to support a certain team. Such posting can be disruptive and we all have a responsibility to ensure that we contribute in a positive manner, that does not mean we have to agree with everyone else but we must avoid deliberate disruption of the forum.

Didn't realise Salzburg qualify if they beat Wolfsburg. That would be some achievement.

Don't know why VAR didn't tell the ref to take a look at the end of the Salzburg match. Looked like the Wolfsburg defender clearly pushed over the Salzburg attacker.

Paul Pogba is quite simply World Class, the reason why he is losing possession and making howlers all night is because he needs to be played in a midfield 3 to bring out the best in him.

Rio on BT saying what they need from pogba is consistency. Consistency for 400k a week. My god I know pogba’s an easy target but he’s also such a deserving target.

Tight offside call for the goal, pity they didnt show it again. Maguire lucky not to connect with his 'tackle' as it would have been a straight red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,971 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well all I have to say is that if I was a manager of a club with lots of money the first player I'd be looking to sign is Duvan Zapata.

I'd be having a long look at Josip Ilicic too and Davide Zappacosta.

Cavani for Rashford not too far away.

Can't believe Pogba off instead of McTominey. He's been booked and has had a chat from the ref since.
