I know of people who have gotten onto it for anxiety. What I would suggest though is getting as much info in as possible and a letter from your GP to help. Hopefully you might not have to go through the appeal process then. I was refused on 15/7 for other reasons and had my appeal allowed yesterday.

Just be aware its highly likely due to "the must be looking and available for work criteria" , it is likely your JSA will be stopped once the DA application is recieved by the department. There was a time some flexibility shown, but no more. You will probably and depending on means have to apply for a basic SWA payment whilst your application for DA is being processed which will take weeks and also likely require an appeal.

There are no defined illnesses in relation to DA, obviously there are specific physical disibilities, Diseases that are less complicated to assess for the payment but each application processed on a case by case basis. Insure you have as much information from GP, any other medical professional you've engaged with, details of meds etc when applying. The support of your GP crucial.

    Best of luck 🙂

It is unfortunately likely to happen and few recent examples reported on other posts if you search. In an ideal world (illness not ideal) if you had enough stamps you be on illness benifit and apply for DA whilst on this, IB would not be stopped whilst applying for DA as its an illness related payment not requiring recepients to be looking for work, but again you need contributions to be entitled to IB, but no harm in checking it out, contributions assessed for a claim in 2021 are from 2019, so check it out

It really is quite astonishing people who don't quite fully understand the process suddenly finding themselves with no income whilst appropriately applying for an illness payment. I think talking to a CWO wise, I'm not sure were they are based now, I recall they were based at local health centres but now based at intero centres, so check this out. Might also be wise to get everything prepared re DA application to show CWO what your plans are etc
