Disability allowance wife CE scheme

Hi everyone first time poster here I applied for the disability allowance and it was rejected so I appealed it and I was granted it. So I'm asking these questions below

I was on a full time course for 2 years VTOS and there was a screw up with my payments back in may when I finished.

Now they have me on Jobseekers benefit which I definitely don't have credits for I questioned this and the office lady couldn't give me an answer other than saying I have credits so what's that about ? I was only a casual worker before my course like 7 days a year so it was very very casual

I've won my appeal for DA so how long does that take for it to get payments from them it's bin 4 weeks now and noting as in letters etc I've rang them and was told it will be another few weeks surely it can't be don't long if the decision was won so any advice on that.

Now my wife have got a letter stating she has to go for an interview for a CE scheme which is great and she actually wants it. But I have a feeling that this will affect my appeal that I've won.

So anyone any advice on that or that has bin threw the hole won appealed situation.

Thanks everyone sorry if my grammar is not good this is part of my disability

When you were on the course, were you receiving a payment directly from the course provider, a training allowance? If so, it’s possible they were paying employers prsi on your behalf which is where the jsb is coming from. Your wife’s CE scheme shouldn’t affect your DA payment. It would be considered a change of circumstances though so it’s important to just ring and let them know once she gets her first payslip. Congrats on winning your appeal. You will just stay on JSB until the DA payment comes though. This takes a bit of extra time when you are switching from one payment to another. DA will be backdated to when you applied, you may or may not get arrears depending on whether or not there is a difference in the amount of the two payments.

It was Wexford/Waterford training board that was paying me and my wife sorry should have included my wife.

She was also on the course but she only done the one year as thats all she was entitled to as she already done 2 years in 2017 and she finished in 2019 .

Then I started in 2019 to 2021 and she done a year in 2020 to 2021 if that makes sense and that was also VTOS.

I Don't think there will be any arrears as such as I'm getting the normal rate of €131 and my wife is getting €203 so in total we get €334 which is the maximum amount that we know of a couple can get. And that's what we where getting on the course as well.

She hasn't got the CE scheme just yet as she hasn't got her interview yet but she has a high chance of getting the scheme.

Going back to the disability allowance does that appeal allowed mean I actually got it and I won't have to send in more mountains of paperwork lol. I dunno if I will get the full single rate of €203 on disability as we we're always on €334 some are saying yes some are no that we will get our single rate payments

    So I'm just confused

There is no max pay/limitation when one of a couple is on DA.

For example, wife on JSB gets €203 and you get €203 DA (assuming you have nil means).

As you won your appeal you should hear from DA section soon. Usually the first thing to arrive is your Free Travel pass. If you have a PSC a new one will be sent to you with the FT on it. Arrears (if any) can take a while to be sorted.

Your claim for DA can be reviewed in the future so it's best to keep medical paperwork in case you need it for a review.

No meant we are on the maximum amount for a couple on normal JSA and JB atm. I haven't received a payment of anything yet from the disability section just yet. So our payments stands at €334 even when I was on JSA before the course that's exactly what we're only entitled to. I don't know now if that will go up when I get my first payment and also if my wife's JSA goes up maybe

An no we don't have any assets or savings etc

She could be moved on to your claim as a qualified adult you would get your 203 + 124 for herself ,

But she could also stay on JSA which is means tested can't remember off the top of my head if and how much she could possibly be reduced on Jsa

She needs her own jobseekers claim if she wants to apply for a CE position.

She was sent a letter about attending an interview for it. She has her own JSA + claiming partially for me

It's the opposite way round I'm getting the 131 and she's getting the same.

The means test shouldn't affect us it never did we we're always on the same amount. But I'm not sure if she will get the full amount when my disability allowance is sorted out

Usually a couple is limited to the maximum personal rate and Increase for a Qualified Adult (IQA) for a lot of DSP payments.

Personal rate = €203 plus IQA = €134.70. So the total a couple can receive is €337.70.

This does not apply when one of the couple qualifies for DA. In your case you may get DA of €203 (subject to means) and your wife will continue to get €203 for herself on her Jobseekers claim.

Email your local Intreo centre and they should confirm this.

I was replying to the post directly before mine where someone suggested adding your partner to your claim.
