Big win for Drogheda today.. Makes the two games this week massive.. We need to get something from those games or we're in serious trouble.. Running out of games now, we need to grind out a few wins in the next week or two

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Yess 2-1 win for us tonight and St Pats beat Dundalk. Huge 3 points

Massive massive game for us this weekend against Dundalk

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

Super second half performance to turn that game around, a massive 3 points for us and we are out of the play off position for now. Huge games coming up, dundalk away Friday night will be tough, then Derry at the rsc this day next week.

Massive 3 points.. Keep it going now lads.. Another result against Dundalk would be brilliant, never an easy place to get a result

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,017 ✭✭✭iseegirls

Dare I say it, if St Pats win the FAI Cup, that 4th place in the league becomes a Euro spot 🙃. Win against Dundalk and Derry and then maybe ...

Sadly not our night but other results did swing our way with both Finn Harps and Drogheda losing

The Derry game maybe postponed yet again

'NOTE RE DERRY MATCH MONDAY | Please be advised that Monday’s home game in the RSC v Derry City is in doubt due to a major electrical problem in the RSC. Please keep an eye on our social media for further updates. #WaterfordFC'

Ye, unlucky not to get a point near the end.. Junior had a great chance, but in fairness only for paul Martin we could have been well beaten

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

The Derry game has been refixed for Tuesday evening at 6.15pm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 892 ✭✭✭skaface

Strange one this.. It will be dark after 7..Thought the floodlights aren't working??

The electrical fault in the board will be sorted by then. It's on early because united are playing in the champions league and unfortunately Waterford people prefer to sit in their armchair following a foreign club.

How dare you point out such an obvious flaw with the average Irish soccer fan!

The absolute cheek of you to speak the truth!! It has no place here sir!

Drogheda vs Finn Harps massive game tonight. A Drogheda win would be the best outcome coupled with us getting something tomorrow would be a great result

Rovers might send a weakened team down on Friday

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

finished scoreless between harps and Drogheda, so we are back in play off spot for the moment. Another massive game tomorrow night for us , need the 3 points

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

yep result tonight a bit of a mix bag for us

Huge game for us tomorrow, a point would not be ideal but it would be something and in that instance we would have to keep trying to match Finn Harps results

    Our games

    2nd Nov-Derry (H)

    5th Nov- Rovers (H)

    13th Nov- Longford (A)

19th Nov- St Pats (H), they might rest some first team players for the cup final

Finn Harps amazingly have 3 of the 4 teams we have in our last few games

    5th Nov- Derry (H)

    12th Nov- St Pats (A)

    19th Nov- Longford (H)

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

Absolute sickener to concede in injury time ... defend the corner and we have a vital win. Need to pick themselves up for Friday night but they will be gutted not to have held on this evening. 2-2 it finished.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Such a sickener of a result

Better than losing but huge pressure to try and keep up with Harps esp with us having to face Rovers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 892 ✭✭✭skaface

That was a tough one.. Jesus, how many times have we conceded from corners and set pieces all season.. We're paying for our small squad now.. Players are wrecked.. Very hard to lift it again for Friday.. Then again, the way this leaugevis going.. It could be the point to get us over the line come the end of the season.. #BLUES

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Let's hope Rovers might play a weakened team on Friday night but they will still have quality that might be too much for us

Finn Harps another bloody torn in our side. They literally never give up and won't fear local rivals Derry

First division playoffs kicking off tomorrow and there's some dangerous teams in it

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,172 ✭✭✭hardybuck

All three of the teams Waterford play in their final fixtures have nothing to play for in terms of league positions.

They'll be under a fair bit of pressure against Rovers on Friday night with the small squad, but at least their fate is in their own hands. Win the three games and they definitely stay up - simple as that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 892 ✭✭✭skaface

Try sneak a draw Friday, beat Longford away and then Pat's at home.. If we can't do that we deserve a play off.. I do think we're capable of doing 2 wins from our final three games.. Should be enough.. Harps haven't an easy run in.. Wouldn't rule Drogheda out of this yet either.. They have ve a tough run in.. No easy games from here on in

Unpredictable type games coming, hard to know what shape Rovers will be in, easily the best team in the league right now but will they be too bothered? Or they could come down nice and relaxed with a few lads looking to impress the manager, in which case could be very difficult.

either way it's in our own hands now to do enough to avoid the play off. Massive games for the club the next few weeks.

It was tough to take last night with that last second goal in what was Derry's only corner of the game.

They played so well and Derry didn't offer much throughout the game.

We could be in trouble with more injuries to Darragh Power and Junior.

There is still so much to play for and of course it is all in our own hands now!

Rovers will be difficult on Friday but hopefully three points from Longford and we may be ok!

Harps to lose to Derry on Friday will also help!

Dundalk won the Louth Derby last nite, pushing Drogheda right into the relegation battle..

Huge game for us tonight, hopefully we'll start getting a rub of the green for our remaining games, starting tonight.. We could have up on 4,000 at tonight's game.. Rovers have always been our biggest rivals, and always bring a great away crowd, should add to the atmosphere..

Good luck to Marc and the lads tonight #BLUEARMY 💙⚽

I assume they will open the 2 closed blocks in the new stand for tonight seems as subs are allowed sit on the bench again?

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Dundalk more or less save now and if they sort out off pitch matters they could become a force again

If Finn Harps win tonight without us getting anything then we're playoff bound. UCD very impressive in there first leg and as we know from the past a team not afraid of us

Can't wait for tonight's game. Just a thought from someone who doesn't get to go to as many matches as I'd like; we could really do with a new chant that everyone could get behind. Ever since the club got renamed by Lee Power, the popular "UNITED, (clap, clap, clap), UNITED, (clap, clap, clap)" roar was made redundant, not that I was a big fan of it. I know the Block E Boys have a few songs and chants but they don't usually travel across to the new stand or catch on with everyone. Apart from lads roaring " C'mon Blues!!" individually there's no unifying chant. Contrast with a big hurling match when its ****-or-bust time, every Deise fan is up roaring "WA-TER-FORD" in unison in a dat-dat-dat fashion followed by three claps to the same beat. Why can't we do the same at Waterford FC matches?? I've felt like it a few times but you'd almost think you'd get laughed at!

Alternatively, we could chant WAAA-TER-FORD, WAAA-TER-FORD, WAAA-TER-FORD a-la Liverpool fans at Anfield. Of course they also have 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to get every fan up and singing but that's almost unique.

My point is we need a unifying chant for both the die-hard fans, Block-E-Boys etc. and the occasional or new fans to easily get behind and get everybody up chanting or singing and it should ideally contain the word WATERFORD! It's funny how the name of the team is rarely shouted out.

    Just a thought.

Going to the RSC to see the likes of Wexford, Athlone Town, Cobh Ramblers would be a disaster for the club and would see supporters numbers drop like flies

Let's hope the lads give one hell of an effort tonight and can get something. A draw would be acceptable but only if Finn Harps don't win

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,385 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Wasn't our night even with the early goal. Rovers supporters classy as ever and throwing fireworks onto the pitch stopping the game

Harps with a 1-1 draw meaning both of us on 40pts with goal difference been the decider in which goes Harps way. What we need next weekend is St Pats to beat Harps and us to get the win over Longford. In that case a draw on the last day over St Pats would be enough to survive

Beaten 3-1 after taking an early lead and I have just seen Marc Birchams comments about the standard of defending from set pieces, he’s 100% correct, you could see it coming long before the first goal, Bircham is a clever manager, and speaks a lot of truth, I liked when he gestured to the crowd in the main stand during the suspension for the fireworks. Hopefully the blues will pick up enough points to avoid the playoff, but the 7-0 loss to drogheda and the walkover conceded to Sligo is coming back to haunt them, they have been very good over the past 4-5 months but started from a very low ebb, it’s the first time the manager has sounded off in public about the players, but I’m not too surprised, as he doesn’t seem the type to put up with shoddiness, and they were tonight, even at a goal up, defended too deep, and didn’t keep possession as well as they could have

Let's hope its only a kick up the hole and won't evolve into something else
