The same guy behind the one they advertised as being on next week. How is he getting away with it, do they not have script editors / overseers?

It was shocking, Shocking, Blasphemous, Scurrilous

    So to speak 😊

I mean I suppose? Regardless, some people truly are over exaggerating, they act as if they hadn't seen a black person before. 🤣

I wouldnt let him in the local play for free. Dreadful. Another D4 head in with Amy, Holly White and the rest of the brat pack im guessing

I stuck it out to the end, and now I just feel there's 8 hours of my life I'll never get back 🙄

All the plot holes have been well covered, but one thing hasn't been mentioned - who was the actor playing the son Anthony, and what fecking age is he? Walking into the church, apart from the gormless look on his face (I'm assuming that was acting), and the fact that he was about foot shorter than her, he'd have passed easily for Amanda's brother (older)!

And now that they've seemingly killed off most of the main characters, where are they going to go next with this??

I don't think I'll be investing any more of my time in any subsequent series.....

ETA - apparently the son actor is 25 - no wonder he made a less-than-convincing secondary school student!!!

It was just sloppy, from beginning to end. I think they reckoned the ‘cool music’ and Dermot Bannon style houses would save it. The accents were dreadful, and while I think the writing has a LOT to answer for, I still can’t figure out if the direction was brutal or did they cast a selection of the most wooden actors I’ve seen in a long time.

Well I assume there could be fight between Birdie and Amanda given that phone call to Eamon. Amanda purposefully omitted the fact that Eamon let her choose who to kill and just informed Frank and Biride that Eamon wanted Eric. I don't see Frank being alive and Amanda is partially at fault for that, so that will definitely cause some issues. I assume that Bren will come out and take over, which is another plot line. Also the fact that Mikey killed the Turkish mafia bosses son, so that is most likely where it's headed. Otherwise just some loose ends like Nikita/Eric and who will take over Eamon's organization perhaps.

When I saw AMC pony up so much money for this I had genuinely high hopes. Our production and writing has fallen off a cliff. This is the nation that gave the world Beckett, Shaw, Joyce, Wilde, Behan and countless other talented writers. Other than the fantastic Lenny Abrahamson and maybe Stuart Carolan on a good day, we are bereft of any credible script writing and production talent. Even when you look at the work of Wesley Burrowes, it reflected rural Ireland strongly. Nowadays, i dont know who the hell is writing these productions. There is feck all standards. When you look at every little detail put into Breaking Bad, Sopranos, the Wire, the Deuce and then see these omnishambles, it makes you wonder how we cant emulate those across the pond.

Birdy didn't do enough, very underused, her vs. Amanda could be good

Gillen will be in the second season. They just wanted to leave a bit of a cliff hanger.

Surprised we didn't get to see what happened with Anna's Mother. I was sure there was going to be a twist there.

What was Jimmy burning ? Surely not the drugs as they are going to keep them ?

Anyone else burst out laughing at the final scene where Amanda says to her mother .."I'm a Kinsella now " and struts away..??

    Cringe

Slightly off topic. An American company refused to go here because of rap music. Yet it is all over there.

One of the oddest things but strangely gratifying was the exclusion of some pretty dreadful characters in the last episode. What was the actual point of all this rather pointless additional characters throughout the series. Obviously the writers were attempting (Badly) to develop back stores for main characters but my god, it was all utterly pointless and essentially only served a single purpose, stretch out this shyte when it could have been wrapped up in a two hour special.

I'm still scratching my head at how bad the actual plot was, confounded by some astonishingly bad performances and have to wonder did the makers actually look at this before releasing it.

The clothes he was wearing... Or else Con's body. There was a shoe lace quite visible in the scene

The whole series was rubbishy 3rd/4th rate stuff - sloppy “will this do?” effort

what makes me laugh is the scriptwriter was in the Irish times a few weeks ago going on about how proud he is of it.

he’s either Deluded or an absolute spoofer

I only kept watching because it was Irish. I'd say it'll flop abroad.

Also the music was completely forgettable elevator Muzak type stuff.

Does anyone know why they used Shannon Airport rather than Dublin?

He must have put an extra story in Indo TV critic Pat Stacey's house ?

    Glowing review today

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,032 ✭✭✭dmakc

I watched this series waiting for Amanda to take over due to the indo spoiler preview referring to her as the female tony soprano before the first episode even aired. Bit stupid to let that out considering she was a car saleswoman for 7 episodes.

Indeed he needs a police escort to the chemist down the road yet is able to fly to Spain by himself no bother -more holes than the Norwich defence

My suspicion is he was off his head on gear as he said, but left his gun out and Anna as a curious toddler shot the mother by accident.

He then took the fall for it as it was his fault.

    Just my theory.
