Great series. I wish they'd do away with hang tough, I generally forward through that. There were so many tight eliminators this year. I thought that Ruth Allen was the weak link but jaysus she was epic in the lake race. You normally have favourites but all three of the finalists were really likeable, even the ultra competitive mammy Mahoney!

I'm watching on +1, and was gobsmacked by the girl from Cavan who lasted over 5 mins having done the bike earlier. And the Dad who was 60, and easily the heaviest of any of them, and lasted the longest.

And that got bettered???

I'm about to find out!

The Bissetts on the wall was incredible but I was even more impressed by the young fella nearly doing the entire 3km on a 10% incline in around 6 minutes

Yeah teams with a Mammy only seem to do well with older/adult sons, the kids in that family were definitely all children. Shame about the McCarthy's, but I thought they took the loss very well. And lovely to see the older guy come straight down to the sister in the end as well.

If I was the cyclist, I'd kill my family for not prioritising piling barrels up at the wall!

They all seemed to want to get at least half of them down to the up'n'unders before starting to get them across to the wall - meanwhile the cyclist busting a gut on a 10% slope!!

I can't believe that wasn't made part of their strategy.

And I thought Donncha's idea of a barrel train was genius.

It's a stupid program and in no way does the winner be guaranteed to be the fittest family. In fact, the sequence of events is the biggest influence in determining a winner.

For example, the family with the two 14 year old lads would have walked through the crouching event because they're so light. And they'd dominate in hang tough too if they made it that far.

Well done to the Greenans, I thought they were dead and buried but you just never know. I expected more from the McCarthys, physically they looked like a winning team but they seem to underperform on everything.

I’ve already had enough of Davy, he needs to calm down.

Mccarthys a bit bulky.

A tall, 6ft -6ft 3in, lean, leggy, athletic, mentally tough male, 18 to 30 year old male, is the best build across all disciplines. Have 2 sons like that, with as young a mam as possible and athletic daughter and you have a serious team. Or 3 sons like that and a mam.

The more likely rugby player, the more challenges go against you. In bogs, hanging tough etc.

I haven't been paying as much attention of late, and they don't tend to categorise the families by sport so much any more - but in the early years of this I remember being surprised that all the cross-country runners absolutely blew all the others out of the water.
