as a Antonio benrahma owner I am hugely frustrated with their returns recently

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭crushproof

    Fornals (Bowen)

I'm hoping for either an Antonio third or Jota equaliser next

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,612 ✭✭✭✭siblers

They could play for another 4 hours and Antonio wouldn't score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,612 ✭✭✭✭siblers

I've lost 7 points so far this gw to yellows and reds

    Origin goal

    Might be TAA assist

    Trent gets the assist

    Origi(TAA)

FPL towers have TAA in their team.

Never an assist. From a non owner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,612 ✭✭✭✭siblers

He was the last player to touch it before Origi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,216 ✭✭✭Xander10

Mane misses a sitter, should have been another TAA assist

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

It was just like Foden's 2 goals the other week, he knew nothing about it, but as per the rules of FF it was an assist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,665 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

    Trent on for 3 bonus

If I owned TAA, I'd have no issue. 🤣

I'm just still salty Ben White wasn't given the assist earlier and TAA was just now. Although both were correct.

Would have been a good day points wise only for captain Auba spoiling it, with his minus 2

3 Hammers goals and no Antonio involvement

They are 3rd in the table and flying. He plays every game when fit, and the team is playing the best football of their lives, if you have him, there is no reason really to sell, he's a 15/20 goal a season player so he's going to go through spells of not scoring. Sure he mightn't have scored the last few games, but who has? Premiums players are doing nothing - even the likes of Jesus who is seeing a lot of game time isn't scoring. At 8.2m or whatever price you got him at, he's worth every penny, and no reason to sell. Benrahma on the other hand can be swapped out by a rake of players who are out returning him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,612 ✭✭✭✭siblers

Since the end of gw3 he's had only 2 returns. From a purely FPL point of view he's not doing enough to keep him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,192 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    68 all out.

4 blanks & while Raphinha stays rooted in the bench.

Sole transfer of TAA->James definitely did not pay off.

    128k overall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

So who do you replace him with? Whose returning on a consistent basis in a team that is scoring goals, there is nobody, so your in a way wasting a transfer on the hope of whoever you bring in finds form. In all 3 goals today, he might not have gotten the goal or the assist, but he was causing all sorts of issues - both corners, Allison was more worried about him that the ball, and the second goal the ball could have been played to him instead of Fornals.

This season is unlike most others in that there is no stand out striker that you have to have at any price point, it's more sit and hold and they will go on bursts or pick up a goal every few games. I feel like it's a waste of transfer getting a striker because there is not striker in form. Based on the form stat on FPL, Livramento is in better form than every striker in the game - that tells you everything you need to know about them.

63 after BPS with Cancelo staying first sub. Was between him and Antonio in the end, just couldnt bring myself to play 5-4-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,665 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Just the 40 points from Trent, Cancelo, James and Ramsdale. Great week and back inside 100k again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 642 ✭✭✭The wonderfish

78 after BPS, HEWT… defence and mid doing the work, forwards at nothing this week and having Auba and his bloody -1 the biggest arghhh

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,908 ✭✭✭claw

73 points should get me back inside the top 200k again after a few bad weeks. Havertz did something for once which was my hightlight!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

I’ll finish on 65. I might try to keep my transfer following the international break and then do 3 transfers for a -4. Like others, I have 3 premium defenders already (Cancelo, Christensen & Rudiger) but I am thinking of switching Duffy for TAA. I have 3.4 in the bank. I can see myself going to 4-4-2. Will keep Livra no matter what.

If losing Antonio for an Armstrong or pukki can get you to turn an underperforming mid into Son, it’s worth considering

67 points which takes me up to 33k, my highest rank of the season. Might have been better if I'd got my bench right but happy enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

I can’t understand all the love for Son. He’s hardly a performing mid at his price.

I already dumped Gallagher for Foden two GWs ago and that move has been a mess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,612 ✭✭✭✭siblers

Son is under performing too. Didn't stop me getting him though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Don't get the Son love atm (and I have him), didn't see the spurs game today but as much as I would love for him to score buckets, he and spurs are in a bad place at the moment. Ideally Conte should drop Kane, but they don't actually have anyone else, so he has to play, but he's been dreadful and he brings the whole team down. Spurs have a great run of games, and if Son had scored this GW, you could potentially see him as a good captain pick against an open Leeds team, but it would be a very punty move based on form.

It's a funny old season, one of the most in form midfield players has ownership of 1.7% - Bowen has returned in 6 of West Ham last 7 games but very few have him.

34 points. Why did I sell Trent again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,375 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

Yeah son hasn’t set the world alight. He was the second top scoring mid last season and in the last 5 seasons his worst return was 12 goals 8 assists.

if you can get him I would

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Because they can't keep a CS against at top tabled team :) A worldie of a goal and a jammy assist doesn't mean it was the wrong decision, it's just unlucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Would you buy Harry Kane if you could afford him? Based on last 5 seasons he's a definite :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,375 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

I own him, the next few weeks will tell the tale.

Antonio? Yea I had him at the start of the season, and then swapped him out for Lukaku. But not owning someone and not selling someone is two different things. There is no striker in the league that is doing anything. So the way I see it with a mid price striker in a team that is flying is that the hold and wait strategy is better than the sell and gamble on another player strategy.

For those that have Antonio that want to sell - who are you buying that's not a punt?

First off, every player bought is a punt.

I’m not saying you are disingenuous but since you sold Antonio for Lukaku you have bought 3 other strikers in selling Aubameyang, Werner and Lukaku and you bought - Werner, Wood and Wilson.

So at any time you could have done a straight, 1 free transfer, swap to Antonio had you so desired but you went differential with Wood and Wilson.

Antonio has only had 2 attacking returns in his last 7 games and he scored 40 points, of his total of 61 points, in his first 3 games - 13,16,11.

West Ham are also facing 4 of the better defences - Man City, Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next 6 games and Burnley (no slouches on their day) in 1 of their other 2 games.

So maybe I can see why you are advising people to hold on to Antonio and especially as you’re not advocating as an owner yourself. It would give your differentials a chance to gain ground.

Also not sure why you think he has to be sold for a different striker. He could be moved on for a premium defender or a mid-priced midfielder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

the rules of the game state that a striker sold must be replaced by a striker - so by the logic alone if you sell him you have to buy another striker.

As for who I buy or don’t buy - if you go through my posts when I brought in Wilson and Wood I said I didn’t love the idea but didn’t hate it either. Both have got me a 1 goal in the last two games.

For you to imply that I’m telling me to keep someone because it could somehow help me gain ground both laughable but a bit out of order imo.

i find it strange that you constantly pick my posts out to have a go - but never anyone else - do you go and look at what other posters say and then have a look at their team to see if they have a player or not? Is it a rule that i or anyone else can’t comment about a player unless we have them?

Yes if you sell him you have to buy another striker but there are other formations that allow you to bench a 4.5m striker if there are better options elsewhere.

    You owned him.

    You sold him.

You’ve bought 3 strikers since and didn’t buy him.

He has a very tough run coming up.

    You’re advocating holding him.

It just doesn’t make sense to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

ok well my opinion was that there is no other striker performing, and he is in a team that is third in the table and creating chances. Sell if you want, it doesn’t affect me in any way - the fact that 5 people thanked the post I’m guessing others have similar views.

But let’s just keep in civil and move on

‘Let’s keep it civil’ - Are you serious ?

The amount of people that I seem to offend. I’d hate to see the response if I went after someone. Are youngsters really this brittle ? it’s no wonder I’ve pretty much stopped using the site.

I’ve not seen a poster that drags so many suggestions over the coals (you) and now you’re offended by what I’ve posted ?

    Unreal.

Those 5 poster that thanked you did so before they knew you had sold him and recently bought 3 strikers that weren’t him.

Anyway, I’ll leave you all to it again in case I accidentally become responsible for an increased need in counsellors.

I know Liverpool aren’t the tightest at the back at the moment and there are cheaper defenders offering great value like James, Chilwell and Cancello but for me what Trent offers is some level of certainty in such an uncertain game. He’s nailed to start on an elite team and should finish just shy of 200 points bar any injuries or a serious dip in form for Liverpool. For 7.5 mill (what most would of bought him for) I’m happy to just stick him in, take his points and stress about the many other decisions there are to worry about.

69 sees me rise from 131k to 81k.

I have a double Brentford sized problem as well as a forward line thats returned 10 points in 2GWs. I have 4.8m and 2FTs to do a bit of surgery, but there isn't anyone leaping out off the page at present. I'll re-assess Thursday week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,733 ✭✭✭Cartman78

    56(-4)..... disastrous couple of weeks...dropped from 55K to 145K 🤬

Son didn't pay off instantly but hoping Conte might get a tune out of him somehow.

My main rival (who I was within ~20 points of recently) has really bombed on with Ramsdale, Chilwell and James etc. is now on the fringes of the top 1K.

Will keep ploughing on.... it's shaping up to another turgid struggle though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,850 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

I don't think I've ever argued that he's not a good player who will return, my concern was that at his price is he value in comparison to others in the game? Which in reality doesn't make a difference, but if you have more expensive players up top or in midfield going on a scoring spree, he is the obvious player to be downgraded imo.

If you look at Robbo at 7m who plays in the same team and who has gone toe to toe assist wise over last few seasons with TAA - would you say he's value? Probably not, Would you take Robbo at 6m? Again probably not - you would be more included to go for a Chelsea defender because as a team they are tighter in defense.

TAA will return over the course of the season there is little argument there. At this point of the season there is no premium striker who is performing and returning and is a must have, some have shown flashes, if I was WC tomorrow i would probably brining in TAA and go light up top, but that could easily swing if form of high priced players turned. Indeed at the start of the season I had TAA, and sold him in GW4 I think and went big up top with Ronaldo, Lukaku and Auba - has that worked out? probably not.

Anyway it's internationals now - time for a break from FF :)
