Limerick Greenway

Cycled before the summer, Rathkeale to Newcastle West was the only leg open, it was nice

I cycled it a few months ago from Abbeyfeale to Rathkeale. We had 2 cars, one at each end. It's about 40km each way so we didn't fancy doing 80 but in hindsight it would be very doable. It's very level and the only hill climb is at the Barnagh Gap.

The Barna part is really nice. Well worth a visit even if your just out for a drive and don't want to do the rest of the greenway.

I've walked Templeglantine to NCW and with the exception of the last few Km at NCW which was a bit boring I found the rest to be really nice.

Would love to cycle it but Bus Eireanns €20 round trip charge for the bike on top of the ticket is a bit off-putting

The city to Rathkeale is 30km each way so to do that and the Greenway and the trip back would be a bit above my limit

I was thinking about staying out that way at some stage but I'm not sure I want to cycle that long a distance after a night enjoying the craic. Also if I stay I have to bring a backpack all the way.

It's just a lot of hassle and money compared to just cycling quiet roads around South Clare
