2 channel stereo

Hello, I am putting together a new 2 channel stereo and would need help especially with AMP and speaker choice.

Room is average sitting room size. I need no cables or interconnects just the best price!. The amp should have a DAC and digital inputs and be decent sounding!. I certainly won't be blasting music loud but it will be with speakers rather than headphones and would like a decent sound from primarily CD and lossless audio. Massive watts from an amp is also unnesscessary. Bluetooth isn't a biggie as I have a topping DAC for that. Please advise on my choices here AND clearance stuff is welcome as long with all original boxes and top condition. EURO prices please.

From the three amps you've listed above the best would definitely be the Denon PMA800. In terms of sound quality it would be a better option over the AXR100, it's fitted with a Texas Instruments DAC and the chassis has been designed to give a cleaner sound with less distortion. My first choice of amp would actually be the Cambridge CXA61. I own the CXA81 myself and it's one of the best amps I have head. The 61 has 60 Watts of power per channel and has Hi Res Bluetooth that will stream up to 24 Bit/48kHz. It also has a USB input which can take files up to 24 Bit/384kHz via USB from a PC. I use a turntable with my CXA81 but I find myself using the Bluetooth more and more as it sounds amazing:

For speakers I would recommend the Fynes from that list but I would also highly recommend the Monitor Audio Bronze 200 as these are a great sounding mid range floorstander:

The query was,without gett too deeply into biwiring speakers,the connecting 2 wires out of amp to the 4 terminals at the speaker?

Hi Reboot.

For Bi-Wiring you need to use all 4 cores at both the speaker and the amp. If you only use 2 of the cores then you will need to bridge the speaker terminals (Pretty much all speakers come with copper bridges connected and you remove them if Bi-Wiring).

This then helps the impedance difference between low and high frequencies and also improves the mid range.

Which ones to bridge,they're in a friend's house,bridges gone. From right to left two red terminals.and two black. First red to first black on ohmeter, short circuit,woofer? Second red to last black,capacitor reading,tweeter.

Connecting 2 amp wires to woofer input above,all works,including tweeter,what's going on with crossover?

Hey Reboot.

You need to bridge the two positives and both neutrals on each speaker. You then run positive on the amp to one positive on the speakers and the link between the two carry's the signal between them. Then same for the neutral terminal.

You can use a bit of speaker cable as the bridge if the original links are missing.

If you cross lives and neutrals it will short the speakers or amp and it will also sound horrible.

Thanks ,all done and appreciated by the person,should quit whilst I'm ahead,but without opening the enclosure, hard to explain how it works without the bridges? Take the point of superior quality with bridges,and benefits,for or against, of Biwiring ,not a place to go I fear?

I can recall discussions with Audio Pro engineers and designers as to why the amp they sold me had an Audio Bandwith of 200 kHz,not 20!

Very much still a black art in some ways,with a regular squeak,hearing aid frequently test not a bad idea,just to discover what we can hear. Thanks ,hope we stay out of trouble,not likely.

Agreed, not to mention,how one isn't impressed with MP3, Bluetooth and streaming,but best not to digress. Idleater been very helpful on the av amplifier and speakers thread,as I think the mod might be happier about?
