I'm young healthy, Vaccinated and worried

I think you'd want to be a bit mad not to worry about it,

Why would you want to catch anything that COULD kill you ,

Even if your young and healthy like myself i'd be more worry about catching it and passing it to a more vulnerable person

In saying that i still go about my life , i don't do pubs but iv been out for dinner & only this weekend went to a kids party in a fun zone type place, I wore a mask and couldn't wait for it to be over but i still brought two of my kids,

Not being smart but you do know there's a load of other nasties about that can kill you as well, Covid's just the new kid on that block.

I’m in my 40s and extremely fit and not vaccinated I’m not worried about the virus as the science says it’s very low low risk to my profile.

I mean that's just not an accurate reflection.

COVID is not 'just the flu'.

But I agree there is no reason to be overly worried, mostly because of the effectiveness of our vaccines, which have really changed the game!

May have had it April 2020, but no testing for me at the time due to the criteria that was around tests then.I am not bothered about it now really.I can't be, we have primary school kids who have to be educated, and we have had to accept a degree of risk into our lives just because of them.We do what we can, but we cannot cut our kids lives off and that brings a higher level of risk that we are happy to just live with.

From what I could see I was limited to ten options. I originally had planned to do a poll with about 16 options. I think with the old Boards you could have over 20 options on a poll.

So in the end I decided just to focus on one's selves.

Anybody who wants to start one for being worried about others is clearly free to do so.

I'm older/in at group and vaccinated and not worried

48 had covid fully vaccinated and not worried about catching it again in the slightest.

Am very worried about the authoritarian route Europe is headed down because of a virus that kills 0.2% of those infected and mostly because those people already have underlying conditions.

I'm terrified, convinced I'm going to die if I get it and also petrified of long Covid and the long term effect it will have on my health which is something we have no clue about now. Who knows in 20 years if you need a heart operation or something that it will have complications because you got Covid.

I don’t recall saying it was anything like the flu just there’s a wide range of other nasties out there that can kill you as well.

Well, food poisoning would be one, a dose of salmonella wouldn’t be too attractive tbh, it’s common enough too, there’s also plenty of other viral infections that are about too, it not just auld Covid that’s life threatening, the list is long.

I'm young healthy, Vaccinated and worried

What viral infections? Particular what viral infections that are highly transmissable and can be transmitted in aerosol form?

I'm young healthy, Vaccinated and worried

I'm mid forties so I picked the 'young' option because I figured it is young from a covid risk perspective, or I'm just in denial 😄

After seeing how many people in my family and in-laws got it recently and hearing of so many others, I figure I'll get it eventually and I'm not too worried about that apart from the nuisance of having to self isolate. But I have a parent who is undergoing cancer treatment and it wouldn't be great to give it to her as it might delay her treatment or she could get quite sick due to a suppressed immune system. So over Christmas when I visit, I'll have to be selective about socialising. My siblings and I are thinking of doing regular antigen tests for that week, to try to reduce the risk. I hope the government gets around to making them more affordable!

Most viral infections are easily transmitted, not sure about aerosol varieties, doesn’t mean they’re not out there though.

Think you’re overanalysing my comment though, not down playing C-19 just reminding that’s it’s not the only dangerous thing out there and if you spent too much time thinking and worrying about it then you’d never do anything really.

Oh and yes I had a bad one long before Covid was a thing, couldn’t move for weeks, the doctor wasn’t specific about its name though.

I hear you but there is a reason we don't worry about something as serious as Ebola.

There is also a reason we don't worry about something as common as Rotavirus.

There are specific reasons why COVID-19 is such a problem.

Just dismissing it as 'just another virus' is a problem for public health.

What about the profiles of the people you could transmit it too?

What about the risk to them?

Again, I don’t recall dismissing it as ‘just another virus’, where are you getting this stuff???

I said it’s not the only thing that can ‘kill’ you!

    I'm not at all worried.

Covid is here to stay. We'll all either get it or have had it already and in some cases didn't even know they had it. Despite all the "alarming" reports it's only a very small minority get it bad. Vaccination has helped with this to reduce the numbers even more.

I'm worried about the damage that's been done psychologically to people by the media and government responses to covid. Once you've engrained that level of fear into people it's hard to reverse it.

We need to move on from all this now. Stop reporting numbers in the media etc. It's never going away so they'll have to call a halt to all this reporting/ monitoring/ testing at some stage.

As I've said already though, unfortunately the fear has gotten a hold of some people ( understandably ) and these people are against moving forward and just forgetting all this bullsh!t and moving on. Le sigh.

Very true but imagine passing it on to a parent or grand parent that it does kill, I think that would be worse than getting sick your self,

^ True - but in fairness the OP was very clear that that was not the question being asked. So I think a lot of us - myself included - formulated our answer in that light. Otherwise many of us would have answered the OPs post very differently.

I'm young healthy and vaccinated and not worried

I'm more interested in who views themselves as young or old 😁

I'm 39 so voted in the 'young healthy fully vaccinated not worried' category.

Prior to the vaccines I was very concerned for the people close to me. There was and is only so much I can do however.

My dad continued as normal a life as was possible and regularly saw people. He doesn't quite grasp what Covid is other than 'that auld virus that's doing the rounds'. I stopped worrying about him catching it because I knew that I'd be more worried if he stayed inside all of the time.

The lockdowns took enough from him and has definitely set him back physically and cognitively.

I remained in a conflicted and often contradictory state. I was nervous of getting Covid because of how sick I can get with flu and the like. So thought I could end up in hospital. At the same time I didn't want my life to be curtailed in any way.

Now I am not in the least bit bothered. Dad has both vaccines and his booster. Everyone else in my life has theirs and I have mine. Not a silver bullet but I trust them enough to prevent hospitalisation. It's a miracle that I have escaped Covid. I'm out and about all of the time. Crowds don't bother me, no masks don't bother me, I'll even shake your hand if you offer it.

My relaxed nature with it all doesn't mean I don't believe I wouldn't be sick. I think I would be. I just feel that it would be close to the flu and sure I'd be able for that.

My real fear, the thing that creates anxiety, is what we have become as a society and where we are going.

    Gotcha. "I'm alright Jack... "

Maybe Austria has a point, after all.

The vulnerable in society are covered, if they are worried about the virus they need to risk assess everything they do.

This is case if we had 100% of the population nothing will change that.

I'm young healthy and vaccinated and not worried

I'm mid 30's fit and healthy and waiting on the results of a PCR test. Didnt feel hectic on Saturday and had a near 40 temp and aches and pains so took an antigen which was positive. Today I feel tired but apart from a slight cough I'm doing OK. I actually took 2 antigens to be sure and both were positive but I still doubt if I actually have it. One thing ill say is my immune system is no where near what it was after being at home for so long without contact with the wider public. The kids going back to school has meant I've not felt hectic for a few months now despite eating well and exercising. Im also a veggie and have little dairy which I think helps with colds for myself anyway.

    Update: Positive confirmed

Maybe you should wear a badge that says "unvaccinated" so the vulnerable can be doubly sure they can take extra precautions to avoid coming into contact with you. Thanks for your concern.

I'm young healthy, Vaccinated and worried

I'm not worried for myself, as I suspect I already had covid before the testing was available, am under 50, no underlying conditions, healthy BMI, and double jabbed etc.

I am concerned for my family. My spouse has hypertension which is a risk factor, my children are too young to get jabbed, my parents are smokers, a bit overweight, and one is recovering from surgery. And we lost some extended family members to covid this year.

I'm also concerned about the restrictions themselves and the effect it has had, and continues to have on normal life. Masks interfere with social connections. Workplaces are very unpleasant. Schools are weird, friendships for children are tricky and unnatural under these conditions. Travel is restricted. Hospitals are a no-go area in general, and the impact on treatment for other conditions are affected. Bereavement under these conditions is one of the worst things I've ever experienced.

I wish the unvaccinated would just take themselves out of that pool so we can get past the restrictions.

Call a halt to reporting, monitoring and testing ? Or in other words, bury our heads in the sand and pretend it’s all ok.. great..because pretending all is good really when it isn’t has turned out well before right ! Ahem.

who gets to tell the news media to stop reporting ? The government ? Because if that craic starts we genuinely DO have more to be worried about than covid.
