They seem to not have much on sale for Corfu for next year so probably an issue at that side

Cargo jet diverts to Shannon with mechanical issue (Clare Herald)

A US-bound cargo jet turned around over the North Atlantic and diverted to Shannon Airport this morning after the crew reported a mechanical problem.

United Parcel Service flight UPS-232 was travelling from East Midlands airport in the UK to Philadelphia in the US at the time. The scheduled cargo service had departed Cologne, Germany earlier in the morning and made a planned stop at East Midlands.

The Boeing 747-440(F) jet, with three crew on board, had departed from East Midlands at around 5.20am and was about two hours into its journey when the crew requested permission to turn around and divert to Shannon Airport.

US Air Force jet forced to turn around and make emergency landing at Shannon on way to Tel Aviv (Independent)

A United States military aircraft was forced to return to Shannon Airport and make an emergency landing just moments after taking off late last night.

The US Air Force C-37B, a military variant of the popular Gulfstream G550 business jet, took off from Shannon at around 11.20pm. The jet, which had arrived from Washington in the US earlier, had stopped at Shannon to refuel on its way to Tel Aviv, Israel.

The flight was using the callsign SAM-251 at the time. The acronym ‘SAM’ stands of Special Air Mission and is used by US military aircraft carrying members of the US Cabinet, Congress and other high-ranking American and foreign dignitaries. It was not clear however who was travelling on the incident jet.

Does anyone know if Gate 6 is still in use in SNN? Looks like the air bridge has been removed?

Noticed re the unruly passenger last week that the flight a Nordwind Airlines flight was due to make a refuelling stop in Shannon anyway. Are there many of these flights occuring? Could a limited number of tickets be sold to go from Shannon to Cuba?

No, they're just to get fuel and not a regular service.

New Ryanair route from Shannon - Malta for Summer 2022.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,848 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

Can't book Shannon to Gran Canaria beyond March. Presumably this will be on the Summer Schedule. Any idea when this will become bookable?

  • Registered Users Posts: 311 ✭✭Tiernster7

Any idea where Ryanairs commitment to Shannon stacks up next summer vs 2019 in terms of number of departures?

Anyone else hear that Lufthansa once weekly service will resume next March?

Ryanair will fly 20 routes so far from SNN in 2022. In 2019 they flew 18 so number of departures would probably be up. KRK has increased to 3 weekly as well instead of 2. So there could be increases on other routes as well.

    Hopefully LH return next year.

Is the new air bridge going up at Gate 6? I see stand 28 looks to be closed off. FR & EI parking at other stands.

Delays in construction & delivery of the new airbridge. Swapping bridges around new airbridge will be going to gate 8 i think.U know the usual messing with these contracts.

Forgot to post here last week. AA definitely not happening next summer.

Pity about AA. They still have SNN PHL on sale so assume pax will be notified soon.

you will have to fly to heathrow then the plane to Phily which is totally stupid cause the heathrow flight could be delayed then u are screwed.

You could say that about any flight that involves a transit stop to get to your end destination. Its not stupid, just less convenient.

I'd drive the 2 hours to DUB for a direct flight before I'd choose a flight with a multi hour stopover in the opposite direction to where I want to go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,396 ✭✭✭JamesBond2010

People wouldnt be paying attention most of the time thinking it would be a direct flight to Phily & they find out it wasnt. Most people would do what you said u do choose a direct flight cause its less hassle & once you are on the plane you are on the plane.

Does anyone know if there is still the coin collection machine at the airport? I have some English coins to dispense.

    Thanks

I see from this photo that there was construction work taking place to the cargo apron in November.

    What exactly are they doing?

Atlantic Aviation Group DOA receives EASA approval for STC cabin changes (Atlantic Aviation Group)

Atlantic Aviation Group (AAG) have extended its EASA Part 21 Design Organisation Approval (DOA) to include Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) cabin changes. In addition to AAG’s existing Design Services, the approval now includes STC changes to cabin interiors, cargo compartments, electrical cabin systems, external schemes, placards and markings, flight deck interiors and STC approval for wireless transmission systems.

As trusted design and engineering partners with an established history of maintaining and modifying aircraft, Atlantic Aviation Group has built a strong reputation for providing innovative design solutions to our customers.

Commercial Manager at Atlantic Aviation Group, Bernard Fitzpatrick, welcomed the news by saying:

“We are thrilled to add STC cabin changes approval to our existing Design Service capabilities at Atlantic Aviation Group. Receiving today’s approval marks a key milestone in the Group’s Design Engineering strategy and, through our highly skilled people, allows us to extend this offering to our customer base as we continue to grow the organisation with a customer centric approach”.

The timely addition of the STC cabin changes approval to the AAG DOA comes as Atlantic Aviation Group announced its recent acquisition of Lufthansa Technik Shannon in October, further expanding the Group service offering.

Just a cover over the walkway down to the Ryanair stands.

There's construction work going on all over the ramp, resurfacing taxiways aswell as extending the light aircraft parking area.

I see theres a KLM E175 en route to Shannon from AMS. Assume this is for Training?

A SNN - AMS route would be great to have

Light aircraft park is just being resurfaced. The taxiway at the back of stand 23 is being widen to allow larger aircraft pass when 23 is occupied.

Taxiway 12 is being overlayed, a new roadway going into Signature/ASL and a resurface of part of taxiway echo 1 that will make a roadway to taxiway 9.
