    I would like to request a review of the warnings and post deletions by Beasty in the Covid vaccine thread. I feel he is using his own biases to stifle debate and opinions that do not conform to vaccine orthodoxy.

    Sorry. Incorrect forum. Referring to pm warnings which don't particularly bother me even if I disagree with them. But specifically of a post which was in my opinion perfectly valid. And contained no misinformation. The purpose of a discussion forum should be to stimulate debate and allow different opinions. Not to support one particular point of view.

    Firstly your post was little to do with vaccines. The one reference was:

    "Use covid certs to give people false sense of security in mixed settings ignoring that vaccinated are spreading it just as much as unvaccinated."

    That is presented in a way to imply vaccines do not reduce spread. They very clearly do. I consider your post misinformation to the extent it does mention vaccines

    Your final comment:

    "Looks very much like a deliberate " herd immunity" strategy to me."

    Definitely conspiracy theory territory

    Hence your post was deleted. Not only deleted but you got a PM telling you it was deleted, in the form of a 0 point warning

    You're clutching at straws to justify deleting posts that do not conform to your subjective biases. Several studies including an independent peer reviewed report in The Lanclet have shown that peak viral load and risk of transmission in similar in vaccinated and unvaccinated.

    Now you are perfectly entitled to disagree with these studies or have a different opinion. It shouldnt allow you to use your mod status to delete the posts of those you disagree with.

    You stated the vaccinated transmit it as much as unvaccinated.

    That is misinformation.

    seems pretty obvious that the people who are able to spend time in indoor social situations like pubs and clubs etc will be spreading it even more than unvaccinated people. Ending up in icu being a different argument altogether.

    That's not misinformation. Studies show that you are less likely to contract the virus if you are vaccinated but that's not what he said. Given that 90%+ people are vaccinated - you are far more likely to catch the virus from someone who is vaccinated, especially seeing as it is the vaccinated who are socialising in bars and nightclubs.

    This news article from a few weeks back showing Waterford (with 99% vaccinated) had the highest incidence rate in the country at 1294 per 100k

    So a vaccinated person is less likely to pass it on than an unvaccinated one

    Also:


    According to the study, which ran from September 2020 to September 2021 and included 440 households in London and Bolton doing PCR Covid tests:

    • People who are double jabbed have a lower, but still appreciable, risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant compared with unvaccinated people
    • They also appear to be just as infectious
    • Vaccinated people clear the infection more quickly, but their peak viral load - when people are most infectious - is similar to that seen in unvaccinated people
    • This may explain why they can still readily pass on the virus in household settings


    So, would appear the OP isn't completely wrong, and to suggest they are spreading misinformation is a dubious claim, considering aswell how even with extremely high vaccination rates certain countries are having new Covid waves.

    Very simply

    No-one has ever claimed vaccines stop spread. They most definitely impair/reduce spread.

    Posters are selectively presenting stuff to scaremonger. In your case the relevant wards are "can be" - not "are"

    I will treat anything like that as trolling

    I don't think you've got the first iota as to what trolling is. You've accused me of this in the past aswell. I think you should look it up.


    You are suggesting someone is spreading misinformation and trolling when in reality they could simply be misreading the information.

    No more. I accept some are just gullible and will pay attention to anything that is suggesting any negative aspects of vaccines with little idea of the actual scale of risk involved. However some posters are very actively promoting anti-vax nonsense and will be sanctioned for trolling. Usually a PM warning first time but warnings escalate for similar behaviour subsequently
