Ireland didn't perform near their best in the tournament. It happens to every team from time to time in sevens.

Very disappointed that Conroy and Kennedy didn't make a bigger mark. They're so dynamite when they're on song.

Will Ireland be a permanent series member from now on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭Richie_Rich89

World Series? Well, they will unless they're relegated. Same as everyone else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭hahashake

Cheers, they were a guest team in select tournaments previously so wasn't sure whether they'd been promoted to permanent members.

Okay. Yeah, guest team in Paris and London in 2018 and 2019, and core team starting in the 2019-2020 season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,024 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Looks like we're investing further in sevens when some others are reducing their focus on it so I expect we'll be a core team for the foreseeable future.

Saw glimpses of Comerford and Cosgrave on Friday and liked what I saw. Hopefully that sevens pathway continues to reap rewards for Leinster players.

Happy to see Jennings there from a Connacht point of view. Defence and tackle technique are definite work ons for him and the Sevens experience seemed to do wonders for the likes of Keenan, Baloucoune, Jimmy O'Brien etc. who are all excellent defenders.

I assume the lads who played in the Olympics are being rested?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,041 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Yeah resting the Olympics players and gives chance to look at extended squad

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,268 ✭✭✭Thrashssacre

Very impressive 50-0 win at the HSBC 7s there, connor Philips the Munster lad looks an absolute star in the making.

Think that's Ireland through as one of the two best 3rd placed sides. The commentator says Ireland will have to wait but the math shows Ireland have done enough.

P.S Is Ed Kelly the winger that was in the St Michaels team that Cosgrave was in? ( I know he's the younger brother of Jack Kelly so the odds are it is him).

Don't want to come across as a sore loser, but I thought we got a rough time from the ref.
