Shout out to Khow Thai who did a full cert and ID check.

Herself was out a couple of weeks ago for dinner and drinks, both in high profile establishments in town. Not asked for cert or ID in either. We had a family dinner then in a pub outside town, 8 adults plus kids and no one checked. Sample size 3, compliance 0%.

Prominent hotel 20 minutes from the city, certs checked, no IDs looked for. Pub in town, same story.

Meet a few mates for pints tonight at the Oslo. We all arrived separately so were all checked and had to give a contact number. First time being at the pub till midnight. Was great having the time to properly catch up. Once we met at 9pm and at half-past they said last call so a big improvement on that.

Milano’s were checking today and almost doing it properly , scanning cert and taking contact details . But did not ask for ID.

Café Nero in Eyre square did not bother to ask .

What’s the point in mentioning a “prominent hotel” or a “high profile establishment” who aren’t doing the checks? Could be anywhere of dozens and dozens of premises. But then people are fine to name check places doing it.

Because it could be seen as tarnishing a local business without any actual evidence. Pretty straightforward really.

There would be evidence if a local business did truly feel aggrieved - CCTV covers nearly all of a premises, one would assume, including their welcome area. If they feel tarnished - show us the CCTV of you checking the certs and the paper records of you taking the contact tracing details. Simple.

Just seems like a waste of time to come here and say "a prominent place" isn't doing it, especially for those who might be looking to avoid such premise for whatever reason.

Again, I can come here and say ,for example, The G Hotel aren't doing any checks. Do you think the G Hotel are then gonna come on Boards and clear their name by providing CCTV.

If people like yourself are happy to avoid places based on what's written here then it leaves places open to losing business based on an equivalent to a rumour. If you don't get that then theres no point discussing it.

Not sure if this is the right thread but does anyone know if there are any pubs in Galway allowing you to pre-book a table k? Going in Saturday and don't want to end up getting in no where.

I think most pubs are. Just check the website/socials for your favourite pubs. You'll need to book early for Saturday.
