No, it isn't. It's just another display of GB News being a propaganda channel instead of a news organisation.

Hopefully he does take him on about the dangerous BS that is the stolen election conspiracy.

He absolutely categorically won't do a thing to call out Trump on his crap.

He'll smile and nod, he'll perhaps try (and fail) to get Trump to talk about something other than himself but Trump will do as Trump always does he will talk about how wonderful he is and how anything bad that happened is someone elses fault and how he has never lost anything and if he did lose it he was cheated.

I remember the time Morgan interviewed him. No time to question him on drone strikes in Syria but plenty to give him a custom Arsenal shirt. Beyond pathetic.

You can guarantee that Trump has access to the questions beforehand

Well I'm happy to wait and see it Farage can live up to his "say the things no one else will say" and call Trump on his BS. Great chance to get the measure of Farage as an interviewer and also see if GBnews is a place of independent though and free speech or just a right wing safe space parroting the usual lines

There'll be one tough-sounding question that Trump will largely ignore and just say whatever he wants, and Farage won't push him on it.

Farage's "interviews" so far have consisted of the likes of Bobby George and Christopher Biggins. The idea that Farage is going to use this opportunity to do anything other than proclaim that he got an exclusive interview with Trump is ludicrous. Trump knows Farage is a brown-noser and is on his side. Even for someone who routinely sh*ts the bed with softball questions in interviews or press conferences like Trump does, he knows Farage interviewing him will be a golfcart-ride in the park.

    Still a scoop though.

The questions are irrelevant to how Trump will respond to be fair.

Regardless of what Farage asks Trump will cover/say the following things

    • Russia Russia Russia Hoax
    • Stolen Election
    • Hunter Biden Laptop
    • Radical Socialist Leftist Democrats
    • Joe Biden is destroying America
    • People say I was the greatest President ever
    • "Big man , strong man , tears in his eyes"

He'll throw Farage a "Brexit was awesome, thanks to you" bone , but that will be about it.

    Is it though??

Would any other media outlet with a shred of self respect give Trump an Interview now he's out of Office?

All he'll do is lie through his teeth.

By GB News "standards", it absolutely is. Any actual news organization wouldn't touch the orange loser with a mile long pole.

    equivocation

That word doesn't make sense in this context. "Equivocation" is the deliberate use of vague and ambiguous language to cover one's tracks so that, at a later stage, they can deny they ever said what they said. Take a look at the CT forum here on Boards to get a look at multiple examples of this happening. Or you could go back to your posts earlier in this thread where you said one thing, were called out on it, then claimed you weren't saying that at all. That's equivocation. Perhaps you meant to use a different word?

while you're at it, any thoughts on my earlier post, quoted above for ease of reference?

I think they would but they'd do so with competant interviewers who would actually use the opportunity to properly question Trump with regards both his Coronavirus response and the election/Capitol Hill riots.

From GB News' own promo, Farage is going to ask him about Harry and Meghan. Why? Ask him about Boris Johnson. Why?

Because all of it plays to GB News' base rather than being an actual interview.

I think most news organisations would take the opportunity to interview Trump if they could. But Trump and his team would be extremely reluctant to sit down for that type of interview. Trump will happily do this interview, because it's not an interview. It'll just be an opportunity for Trump and Farage to pat each other on their own and each others backs.

I see your point but I wonder if there's any real reason to interview Trump any more. The man was never what you'd call an intellectual and Biden looks to be well on the way to finishing more in less than a year than Trump did in 4. His lawyers will want to be very careful about what appearances he does and they'll have likely gone over tonight's script with a fine-toothed comb.

You're perhaps forgetting that Trump's animus toward "mainstream media" is such that it drives him to support alternative, right-leaning channels / platforms.

In his eyes, GB News is very much a cause worth supporting. He'll be aware that the channel is unique in the UK in that it is largely sympathetic to his brand of politics and, if he does choose to run again for the presidency, GB News will be something worth promoting (not least because he'll want a sympathetic channel in the UK that whitewashes his actions).

Trump isn't aware of anything other than his own self-importance.

He'll have to be reminded off-air the name of the channel.

They'll tell him that they are fighting "Fake news" in the UK which will give him his pivot to have a rant all about how Fake news did him wrong and how he's awesome.

Trump only cares about himself and will momentarily care about something else if it makes him look good in that specific moment.

The idea that Trump gives a toss about a tiny media outlet in the UK is laughable. He doesn't care about the whole of the United States why would care about GB News?

One tip for Farage though , I wouldn't mention the ratings to Trump.. He'd probably walk out if he realised how few people were actually going to see the interview.

were there other stations desperate to get an interview with him?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,620 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I'm forgetting nothing. As per my post, he's more likely to reject "mainstream media" because he'd actually be questioned, and has historically stumbled (eg. the Axios interview) under a reasonable amount of questioning.

He "supports" channels like GB News, Fox, Newsmax etc because they support him and will let him blather on to his heart's content with minimal pushback. GB News isn't "a cause worth supporting", it's a means for Trump to say what he wants and be treated nicely.

Trump "supports" Fox News, but the second they step outside Trump's lines he always b*tches up a storm about them because they're not doing what he wants them to do. Trump doesn't care about Fox, he cares about the image of him they put out. He'll always be the same with GB News and Farage, so long as Farage et al is nice about him, he'll claim to support them. The second they criticise him, any "support" will very quickly dissipate. Hence why Farage will maybe ask one or two slightly tough questions, but there'll be no pushing Trump on them, no actual journalism. It's not an interview, it's a Trump press conference with one of his fans.

Trump is literally calling in to Fox and Newsmaxx and the likes to whinge. He is giving interviews to anyone who will give him airtime. If he keeps going the way he is? I wouldn't be surprised to see TFG rocking up to chat with George Galloway on Radio Sputnik or on Russia Today with whomever their current mouthpiece is.

    don't watch then.

why being so upset if other people are going to enjoy the interview?

You could apply that logic to pretty much everything 'the right' are regularly up in arms about. Faux outrage generates the clicks, so it pays to throw a strop.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,862 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Do you not think having the support of a man who started an insurgency which lead to an invasion of the US government a bad sign ?

Whatever about how we might disagree over his politics a serious line was crossed that day that can't be uncrossed

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,862 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

You watch the "MSM" every day and all you do is moan and complain about them

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,213 ✭✭✭Mic 1972

I have no idea what you are after, what's MSM?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,213 ✭✭✭Mic 1972

You don't think that "a man who started an insurgency which lead to an invasion of the US government" is a slightly biased description of Trump?

GB News is there exactly for people who are tired of one-sided biased opinions

Men who have sex with men.

But it's also used for mainstream media, to which I presume the poster is referring.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,213 ✭✭✭Mic 1972

Thanks for clarifying that, I'm even more confused now... I guess it's a homophobic comment from the poster breezy1985

if he refers to main stream media, i rarely watch it anymore ;-)

I love this claim "Nothing is off limits"

Who's betting the hardest thing Farage asks Trump is if he would like sugar with his tea 🤣
