Man you must be one helluva speed reader to absorb those links. And I have more if you want to pretend to read them. Moderna's only commercial product after over a decade into very well funded research that backed off after "issues" and released because of a world emergency. Context. Over half a million test subjects followed over eight months from phase 1 human trials, versus one hundred odd half fecked men over four. Compare and contrast. Vaccine pretty crap really, so we'll gift a half million doses to the Nigerians. For the lulz. Them's the "snippets". Soooo, you got nada. Fair enough. Carry on.

Just had a decent argument with the 75 year old parents.

I think the government/NPHET are now absolutely deranged, dangerous to the country and should be booted out immediately. Who should replace them is an open and unanswerable question though!

    • The test-before-entry is ridiculous, is terribly damaging to the economy and should never have come in. Omicron is here already, and the country now appears closed from the outside. It will not be dropped in two weeks, we all know NPHET will vote to keep it, my guess February.
    • The advice on children is outrageous - stopping them going to pantos, socialising and above all, masks in primary schools. Absolute insanity.

The parents unwavering opinion is as follows

    • Travel restrictions should be harsher - noone should be going on holiday anyway as travel is not essential at the moment
    • Masks in schools should have happened ages ago as the spread has always been in schools.

THIS is what we are up against.

They are marginal at best but absolutely great for the Covid theatre. We don't bother with measures like proper filtration and contact tracing that would actually help reduce transmission, nah we go with nonsense like masking up 9 year olds and have them sitting in the cold. Bad for kids but brilliant for Covid theatre and for the government to say, "look we're doing something".

Good to see where some of the arguments regurgitated here come from.

Its interesting to see they were pushing a no vote in the Swiss referendum as protecting democracy. I am sure the yes vote that came out was somehow not democracy because they got the “wrong” result.

Robert Kennedy jr, there goes any credibility that site might pretend to have. Embarrassed for anyone referencing it.

Now this is where you could try to tell me I am wrong and that masks in school are unconstitutional because A but uniforms are not because B?

I very clearly made that point to you earlier. Covering a child's mouth and nose, is in no way comparable to having them wear specific clothing.

You probably didn't read that because all you do is attack people you perceive to be on the opposite 'team' to you.

Not really Time. It's a perfectly fine vaccine that numerous studies show holds pretty decent efficacy over at least eight months, requires one shot to gain decent enough protection, requires less finicky handling than some and is cheaper too. For rural areas in underdeveloped regions where follow up might prove taxing with a two jab vaccine it's a pretty good fit.

Why am I a dangerous poster? I just googled masks studies and that came up. The ECDC don’t recommended masks for under 12’s in education.

True, though if this was a truly scary bug like smallpox your parents would be dead right. Only it isn't. Thank Christ. Unless our health service is utterly overwhelmed - and given a bad sniffle winter season has it in tatters - I can see wider society just thinking feck it, plough on with normal enough life.

That in no way addresses the point. At all. It was you that said “your out of your depth” and then retreated to refuse to address the reasons as to why. “Covering a child’s month and nose” is not a reason. Otherwise why is it not unconstitutional for older groups?

I am not saying it’s the right right thing to do, but the contention was it’s unconstitutional.

So who attacked who, you who called me out of my depth for challenging an opinion with a counter point, or me for asking you to tell me why I was out of my depth?

Where in my post did I say "they"?

I said you are a dangerous poster who is dumping dangerous mis-information articles onto this thread and anyone else reading your posts should know where your get your information from.

Why did you use that source childrenshealthdefenxx.eu/ as a source?

Speaking as someone who was and remains very pro mask and if the search worked it would be easy to see that in the masks thread hereabouts, I can also see the practicalities of trying to get a child to wear one and wear it correctly. Actually Raind since we've all seen too many adult mouthbreathers with their masks half on their face with noses out in the wind, coughing and spluttering their miasmas, I'm more sure kids could wear them more effectively. Still I'm not sure it's going to work in schools as an actual practical thing beyond the optics of our authorities looking like they're doing the right thing. Windows open to winter isn't exactly a great notion either. At this stage my position would be more along the lines of pump older farts like me with prophylactics and keep the vulnerable safe, keep basic stuff like masks in shops and the like and try to ride it out. This pox is everywhere pretty much and much of the advice IMHO is more for optics, rather than science.

I look at these tweets from GPs and other health officials and think that we are fûcked every winter now! Had to take my two year for a pcr test yesterday! Nothing in cork or Kerry so had to go to Shannon for 4.40pm last appointment I got! My wife had to take another day off work because he has a high temp but otherwise is still being a maggot! No result yet but temp and all are fine today, yet not allowed back into crèche until Thursday. So my wife needs to take another day off work tomorrow!! It’s a disaster!!

The word suppress all is what worries me going forward… who pays her wages??

    People still talking about Covid?

    Time to move on.

Masks in schools are utterly pointless. They are sitting in the same room for 5 hours. Won’t make a blind bit of difference.

We are also now in a stage where no one wants to be seen not to do something so they will do anything just to be seen. Data is already suggesting things are turning. That hard decision is to do nothing and wait and see though

Another poster trying to label and discredit when the truth hurts. In my opinion you are a dangerous poster trying to stifle debate at one of the most important times in Ireland’s history. I don’t care about that website, just looked at the study and results. It’s not as if RTÉ and mainstream media are a beacon of truth anyway. Fake polls on Claire Byrne, Pat Kenny hysterical daily with Luke O’Neil promoting jabs 24/7, journalists asking leading questions pushing for more lockdown, vaccines and less freedoms daily.

Not one reporter on RTÉ mentioned the fact the ECDC do not recommend masks for under 12’s in schools due to the detrimental effects it will have, RTÉ just got another Trinity Professor nut job onto Prime Time instead wishing the toddlers could be muzzled up too.

Maybe some people don’t get their information from rte or antivaxxnutjob.com

I would side with them on the point of the spread always being there in schools, it's always just been put down as community transmission, as for everything else fcuk knows at this stage, the longer this goes on the more nonsensical the decisions our government make.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,437 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Imagine defending the latest NPHET horseshit by trying to claim that the kids actually want it to happen, talk about scraping the barrel.

You could have guessed who would be trying that line of course, same as it ever was.

But hey, here we are, people actually debating the intricacies of targeting 8 years old for restrictions. Fact is, a society with any integrity worth a damn should recoil from the very idea.

Nothing really. Stuff like delivering Slaintecare, really tackling waiting lists and bringing Ireland's ICU capacity up to European standards would be nice. You know, ensuring value for money in the HSE. But failing any of that, nothing would be better than the endless media appearances all the while watching him subcontract all his decisions out to a bunch of sinecured civil servants.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭CruelSummer

Well wherever you’re getting your information from needs some fact checking. Trying to claim on another thread that myocarditis as a side effect of vaccination of children will be ‘mild’ really scrapes the bottom of the barrel.

The interpretation of my position as it appears here is based on the views that I challenge and not on the views I express. Most would be surprised where my actual opinion falls. I have found in time that few rarely read what you actually sayand will continually misrepresent, so it’s more fun just to challenge the more objectionable bs

And here once again is chief misrepresentor. Who refuses point black at all opportunities to even acknowledge the real data while spreading his lies

    1st of December.

The next 2 weeks really are crucial.

If the children's lockdown works we might all get to have a meaningful Christmas.
