Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh **** off with “I can’t see it”, you have a TMO!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Probably karma that the kick was missed.

Cardiff Vs Toulouse is a glorious shitshow of a match.

Antoine Dupont will be recognised as the greatest of all time when he retires.

    Ridiculous talent.

Tough on the kid getting the red, there really was no malice in it, but the technique was dangerous, so no question about it.

Leinster v Bath is on BT Sports 3, which isn't included in the Sky Sports package. Trying to contact Sky via phone or through their website but just being sent around in circles.

The Welsh really are a funny bunch.

always shouting for bigger and better things in this Anglo league only they want. First home European game off the season, first with the crowd, last years champions, big European name, world player of the year come to town and they can’t get near a sell out.

bur we’re all to believe if it were sale they’d be standing on walls to see.

Enjoyed that Cardiff game. Is that it for the free games this weekend?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

It’s an easy excuse to make because they know deep down this Angelo Welsh thing is may belief so it will never be put to the test.

    Well deserved try for Ulster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Not sure that's grounded.

If it is then it's a world class finish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,196 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Don’t think there was downward pressure on the grounding there, no try for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Very surprised the French TV director showed a replay of that tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Thrashssacre

Surely that was a red I have no volume as I'm in a pub but he's lifted balacoune above the horizontal and dumped him on his face! What was the mitigation to yellow?

As long as Balacoune is good for the 6N it wouldnt be the end of the world. Looking at that though it would be touch and go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,458 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

That was a stupid mistake from Burns and Lowry to give away the penalty and three points

  • Registered Users Posts: 93 ✭✭iwasliedto

Lowry always can be relied on to make the wrong decision. He didn't let a ball go over the line and conceded a lineout. He kicked poorly and didn't kick when he needed to. And then gave away that final penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

I'm surprised they dismissed the red so quickly. So you can lawn dart a player, breaking his shoulder, as long as you tip him and someone else minces him into the ground?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,196 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Has a TMO ever been used to determine the proximity of a referee’s whistle to his mouth?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

But also if you try to determine “would a try have been scored” you’d have to say yes because the ball was grounded!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,014 ✭✭✭hold my beer

Fair play to Ulster. Lowry is a serious threat in attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Think the Mike Ross/Tom Court game at Twickenham in 2008 had a similar incident

I think that was a dodgy call to give Timoney the try but IMO a penalty try would not have been unreasonable so meh.

he had his hand out on the Clermont side for advantage, so a bit dodgy but not the worst call ever.

    Some performance by Ulster

  • Registered Users Posts: 475 ✭✭PHG

Unreal from Ulster. Thought they were goosed on 60mins. Huge scalp, fair play. JJ contender for best player for Clermont barring Penauds 2 tries.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Good work Barnes, just ignore the eye gouge on Kane…

    Fantastic performance from Ulster

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Barnes you are a disgrace to rugby, he’s knows it’s an eye gouge and ignores it just because he can’t clearly see it 😂

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Hope Jonno Gibbes enjoyed the game 😊

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Ref didn't blow his whistle til after the ball was grounded so it's correct call

Timoney did score so the idea that a probable try would have been scored wasnt incorrect.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

And even if he didnt lets just say, number 11 has moved his hand towards the face of an opposition player which in rugby is considered a strike and is a penalty anyway.

4 away wins out of 5 in the played games. Hoping Munster add to that tomorrow

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,877 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

All these away wins are very unusual in a Heineken Cup context. But great to see.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

You could argue of the away wins only 2 were surprises and even then both games went down to the wire.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Also in other news Edinburgh have beaten Saracens at Saracens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,093 ✭✭✭Brewster

Brilliant by the Ulster men. Nobody would have given them much of a chance at 19-20, with Clermont having all the momentum. Fantastic win. Great start to competition for Irish rugby. Barnes bottled final decision, it was hand to face, enough in this alone to reverse penalty decision. I hope this doesn’t cost Ulster in reverse fixture, and the head to head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

    Great win for Ulster.

James Hume looks a real classy player. Only a matter of time before he is at 13 for Ireland. He creates out of nothing and super hands.

Ulster look weak at 10 and the scrum isn't great. Jack McGrath was getting a hard time once he came on, around the field he was vulnerable too.

I thought Lowry was good too, beginning to grow into that 15 role.

Clermont were poor though. Their pack wasn't at the races and their lineout was all over the place. A good night for JJ, got better as the game went on.

Montpellier really got a stinker of a draw didn't they??

PSA seems to be saying they'll be resting a lot of big players over next fortnight.

Are Exeter the only team who still do the caterpillar to that extent?
