Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fecking Chelsea get a winning penalty 4 minutes into injury time.

That will do pig that will do!

Best Liverpool midfield in a generation.

Mo on his way to be the greatest player ever to play for the club.

When did Jose become Villa manager?

Curse of the commentator... Beglin picks Ming's for MOTM contender and he then gives away a penalty.

That was hard earned but get f****n in!!

Probably could have won by a couple more at the end by easy say that after a win. Likewise it's easier to say how annoying that referee was.

Glad that's over. Our control over the last few minutes there was shocking.

Should have more bodies I'm midfield when the ball keeps coming back like that but hey what do I know.

Nasty three points. Happily received ☺

Matip, currently the best defender in our squad and probably the entire league, is a weakness, according to Kenny Cunningham.

He really will just say anything to cling onto relevance, won’t he? Spoofer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

yOU SHOULD be able to pass the ball around at 1-0 up with 7 minutes to go, but we couldn't , don't get that. No one showed, everyone on the ball was out of options, no one made it easy for guy on the ball, and it was all back to Alisson, a keeper, to force him to pick a pass, come on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Salah has either gotten a goal or an assist or both in 15 of the 16 league games this season.

14 goals and 11 assists in the 16 league games so far this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Wasn't he also the pundit saying he doesn't know what Thiago brings? He should've just stopped talking after the "I don't know" part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

God just asked Gerrard why he played so deep and did he get his game plan from managers he played against as a Liverpool player.

Basically why did you play like Jose.

I never get this point of view at all. Theres another premier League team on the pitch who have been resurgent in the last few weeks. 3 wins and a narrow loss to city. They've still got a chance in the last 7 minutes if they continue the attitude of the previous 4 games and put pressure on us.

You get to pass it along nicely against a team like this if you take your chances earlier in the game.

The point of their resurgence is that they don't allow this to happen.

I thought Thiago was poor today, thankfully Henderson put in a good shift. Always reliable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

The best center back in the league this season.

I cannot wait till he decides to take a shot after one of his mazy runs and goes top corner.

Thought it was noticeable that Henderson played very RM today. The same as the 2nd half against Wolves. It's almost like Klopp is going back to the set up of when Elliot was playing and one of the midfield 3, but very much RM and allowing Trent do his thing and give Salah a bit more freedom.

Though Henderson played this role well today too btw. Loved his press and tackle around 88th min. Put it out for a throw in but completely halted a Villa attack before they got the chance to break.

Fabinho & Thiago as a traditional 2 marches on. They have a brilliant record together.

Gerrard did good today, you could see all the Villa players giving their all for him, and the switch from playing for the draw, to playing on the front foot was seamless.

Ronaldo wins an exact same penalty, as Mane didn't get.

I don't think it's an illegal move on Salah's part to put his body in front of Mings, he earned the right to do that by moving the ball fast and gaining the yardage on Mings, he started a yard behind him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,644 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

100% a penalty, he did Mings, just quicker and sharper, Mings is a big lump and couldn't move his feet quick enough. He's like Maguire, an England International but awkward as Fvck and at least one mistake in him in every game.

Mo ice cold for the penalty, Martinez, Young and Mings allowed to be in his ear for two minutes before he took it, weak refereeing, but made no difference.

This man is on a different planet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Yea, Mings was beat, putting his arm across him and getting involved was a bad call. Should have let Salah go, but made the mistake and gave away the penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Day of penalties. Chelsea's were so weak, especially the last one, a giant defender going down when barely touched, yet the reason why Mane's and Robertson's penalties were not given is '' not strong enough contact, yes they were fouls, but they should have kicked Robertson harder, they should have pulled Mane back more'' No one is saying they weren't fouls, they're saying not enough of a foul. It makes no sense, the Ref should have given both, knowing VAR was there to save him, the Ref was being stupid in not giving them, give them, then let VAR look at the 20 replays.

Villa were lucky it wasn't 2-3 goals we scored in reality,we butcherd excellent opportunities,am I the only one who holds his breath when Joel goes on one of his adventures?? 🤣🤣🤣

It's a pity both Salah and Mane (not so much Kieta, he's always missing anyway) will be missing most of January, could be the deciding factor in who wins the league, also could affect their form negatively when they do return. Pity Afcon wasn't on last season, would have made feck all difference to us as our form was dreadful in January/ February last season anyways.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,111 ✭✭✭Akabusi

I think we were top of the league around this time last year. Although having defenders this season should prevent a similar slump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Why are no big games on a Sunday lately, Super Sunday is more like Sad Sunday. Don't get all the big games getting played on a Saturday at 3pm where no one in the UK can even watch them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,954 ✭✭✭garra

I have noticed volumous commentary about the impact of Afcon on our title hopes. Personally I think we will cope OK for the 2 or 3 games involved, and other factors will decide the title. The fitness and form of our Centre halves and keeper will be more crucial than any 1 off event like Afcon. Look at the bigger picture. Dont sweat the petty things, and under no circumstances pet the sweaty things.

West Ham & Brighton are being linked to Phillips today.

Reports Liverpool won't let him leave on loan and want £10m for a permanent move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

They want fans in the stadiums and gate receipts I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I would have put it down to it being a 3 horse race that the TV companies are keeping there picks of the top 3 till the second half of the season when the race gets really interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭tinpib

The Daily Mirror spreading the rumour that Elliott will be back in January.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Because they have to so every team a certain amount of times,

They always have a period of crap games it to get the lower table sides quota of show gamea up so in the second half of the season they wy get all the big important ones on tv

Ps they also normal start the season with a run of big games to get you intrested

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

It would be a pity if the club had a Covid outbreak during the AFCON and had to have all there games postponed during the period.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,103 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

COVID outbreak at Villa, which will put Liverpool in a worrying position now also after playing them yesterday .

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭Girly Gal

It's not so much the games they miss, but, the potential impact it'll have on there return, they could run of steam towards the end of the season

  • Registered Users Posts: 710 ✭✭✭TefalBrain

Also an outbreak at Man Utd now. Can see a circuit breaker lockdown coming in the UK now wouldn't be surprised if the league is stopped now until the new year. Boris addressing the nation tonight.

Yep every successful team has to watch out for wear and tear on their superstars. Will be great if we have that concern in May. For now let's rejoice in the glory of our performances during this festive season.
