Filling wallplug size holes in plasterboard?

I have 2 plug holes in plasterboard I want to fill. They are too small to slip in a bot of wood to have a temporary backing while I fill. Any fool proof ideas how to do it ?

Just use filler for a hole that small, you shouldn't need any backing.

If I was doing that, I'd do a skim of filler, let it dry, do another, let it dry, and build up a few layers until it was nice and solid.

The issue is the filler falls down at the back.....

take the rawlplugs out, big glob of filler, push into the hole.

Make the filler really thick like blue tac. Roll into a little ball. Push into hole. Let fully dry. Repeat with a wetter mix.

Make it one long hole then get a bit ply or wood wider than the hole but a little smaller than than height of the hole.

Put a screw in the middle of the wood so you can hold it and feed it inside the hole and pull it against the inside of the wall blocking the hole then screw through the plasterboard at either side of the hole securing the wood as a backing for your filler . Underflush the screw. Remove the middle screw . Fill the hole and the screwheads .

What filler are you using?

use one of the ones that’s thick and just smear it over the hole.

They'd have it filled with a bit of stiff filler while they're reading that never mind doing all that work for 2 small holes

I researched that method previously on YT alright but it seems OTT to me to further destroy the plasterboard to enable that fix in this case...

The Holes are at the side before a double door to the outside. I have noticed that even during the day holding my hand over the holes there is a lot of cold air coming form them, which surprised me, but I guess that is standard and shows what would be there without the insulation!

This is the approach I have used, just enough water to make the filler like a putty consistency. It can help if the holes are primed with some pva also.

Janey that's a lot of differing options for filling two small holes!

What I do is just leave the wallplugs in but tap them back into the hole a little with a blunt item the size of the hole.

Given that's not an option, I'd just cut the top off some wallplugs that fit the hole, push them leaving a few mm and fill. Most readymade filler will do gaps up to 20mm in one go, some a lot more. I wouldn't be faffing around with multiple layers. Just fill it a bit proud and sand back. Spot prime then paint.
