This could be a very quiet thread I'd say.

I'm looking at all my players out for Omicron

    Hold!!!

Don't think I'll even bother at this stage

Taking hits and ending up with 8 players last week and even 6 or less this week

  • Registered Users Posts: 412 ✭✭TaytoCrisps

I'll get an itchy trigger finger holding my transfer week... at the moment i actually have a decent looking bench boost option...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Benimar

I suspect ‘events’ might sort that for you!

no idea what my transfer will be, but it will be made bleary eyed on Stephen’s Day and not before.

That 11am transfer deadline is gonna be a kicker. No way I'm gonna be up for that. Might have to make my transfer when steamed at 4am. Drunk transfers never go wrong.

Another last minute job. Feels strange ignoring the price movements until then but it's got to be done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Yep, ignore till Sunday morning to let any cancellations play out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,216 ✭✭✭Xander10

It would be fairer if they suspended price movements until the uncertainty of next week's fixtures going ahead is resolved.

Think I'll roll this week but it might mean playing with 10. Will have to start looking at the Chelsea situation for January, they run into tricky fixtures starting with Liverpool, City, Spurs before they then blank for two game weeks in a row due to the Club World Cup. So Im thinking of getting off them before the Liverpool & City fixtures as they dont return to the PL until February 19th.. Also waiting to see what Salahs situation is, he is likely to miss at least two gameweeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Nah, leave the impatient ones to make their transfers early, all the more benefit for the rest of us when games are called off later

  • Registered Users Posts: 403 ✭✭KurtBarlow

Just wondering what are the chances the United newcastle game will be off too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 505 ✭✭✭duefrine

Premier League clubs will discuss at Monday’s emergency meeting whether to postpone a round of festive matches due to the #COVID19 situation. Gameweek 20 (28/29/30 Dec) most likely, amid player welfare concerns.

Yeah I looked at the team I would like around gw25. Everton nice run of fixtures soon. Will be a lot of changes. Tempted by DCL soon as he is fit.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

DCL is such a streaky striker, last season got 11 in the first 11 then 5 in the last 27.

This year started like more of the same, 3 in 3 (though 2 were penalties). I'd like to see him hit form again before buying. The fixtures do look lovely though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭steve_r

Made an early transfer last week (by early I mean the night before the deadline) and got burnt. Took a hit for Foden also which didn’t work so a bit wary of transfers right now

I don’t have Cancelo so that’s looking like my transfer at the moment, but waiting for news like everyone else

    Mané out, Jota back in.

I rolled the dice on Mané a few weeks ago and it hasn't worked as hoped.

I'm happy with my squad. Locadia is the only dud I have but given the state of forwards this season, I'm gonna keep him.

I have 3.8m in the bank and thinking of upgrading Sanchez in goal but will hold off on that until after the Brentford game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,699 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

yeah he can be streaky but with a lack of good forward options Im considering getting him straight away for his return. He wont be fully match fit but he does have good aerial threat from corners and set pieces and should be on penalties too. Ive Lacazette in that spot and after watching him v Leeds decided he is very much a sticking plaster until the return of DCL or Bamford. Possibility for Ings too but already have Watkins so not that keen on a double up.

waiting on news but i need trent so probably silva and someone else for him

    Call me mad, but.

Is there scope for this GW to look into a Salah plan, pre-AFCON.

Currently, he has 3 more GWs before AFCON. Leeds at home being very attractive, but the Leicester & Chelsea away. If they go ahead. That Leicester game may be the midweek round of fixtures that gets postponed across the whole PL. If it does go ahead, there is 2 games in 3 days so there is possibilities for mass rotation there too. He might get 2 starts but they both might be 60 mins games. If the dates for the AFCON move, he will also miss the Chelsea game.

I bought at 12.5 and currently is 13.1 so I can sell at 12.8. He might get sold a lot during AFCON which could see him fall back to 13.0 or 12.9 ish. So I would only 'lose' 0.1 or 0.2 but gain a player.

A window to get KDB/Sterling/Bruno in, and Tsimikas too while he is nailed at 3.7.

It's basically hoping that Salah has an off day against Leeds, or doesn't go too mad at the least and then covering yourself for the other 1 (or 2 if it goes ahead) fixtures.

Those postponements and hits have screwed me and now I'm here, out of frustration!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭thefallingman

hard to know fitz but i won't be selling till he's gone (salah to afcon) he's just too good to not have

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,192 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Maybe I'm just getting sucked in by the Tsimikas 3.7 and needing a Liverpool spot.

Maybe it's better suited to GW20 and beyond. We'll have more clarity on postponements etc later today and this week anyways.

  • Registered Users Posts: 530 ✭✭✭Ozvaldo

The obvious play is to get rid of Salah pre nations then use your wild card to get him back in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Benimar

If GW20 is postponed Tsimikas 3 games will be the Carabao Cup, Leeds and Chelsea. Not sure he’s worth freeing up a Liverpool spot for him, and even less sure about using Salah as the ‘make weight’

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,192 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    That's a good point.

I'm glad I have written it down, rather than following through with that plan. It was mad after all!

No. Red card bans in the league carry over to the CC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

I have a feeling the AFCON might be a casualty of Covid. Nothing to back that up other than my own suspicions. They could move it back to June and everyone would be happier

BBC journalist so hopefully reliable. The thing is we don’t really know what situation each club is in I.e it could be carry on as before and some games getting pulled

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭thefallingman

i'll wait till a male journalist says so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,521 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

The less games they've to rearrange the better they'll be thinking. They'll struggle on and play as many as possible.

They probably got a bit complacent and were caught cold with the swift spread of this variant. Hopefully they can control some spread with proper measures.

    Kane in for Lukaku.

Hoping to have a full starting line-up this week, have plummeted down the rankings the last couple of GWs.

    Sanchez (Steer)

    James, Dalot, Tsimskas (Duffy, Livramento)

Salah (capt), Silva, Raphina, Martinelli (saved my weekend from total embarassment) (Gilmour)

    Ronaldo, Kane, Antonio.

Like Shedite I think AFCON is in danger of postponement. PL/La Liga/Bundesliga never wanted their players to go anyway and this omnicron spread gives them the medical cover they need to not send the players. Clubs can now legitimately say players need to stay in their squad bubble rather than mixing with international team mates coming from all corners of Europe and Africa.

I wouldnt be without Salah v Leeds anyway, not after City put 7 past them and Arsenal 4. If he is going to AFCON I think he will still play the Jan 2nd fixture v Chelsea as his first game for Egypt is not until the 11th. Selling him before the Chelsea fixture is an option though, its an easy move to Son who plays Watford that week.

The other consideration at the start of January is the Chelsea defence, their schedule from Jan 2nd is Liverpool, City, Spurs and then 2 x blank gameweeks due to the Club World Cup. Im going to try to have 2 FTs going into that Jan 2nd gameweek so if I decide to sell Salah, James, Alonso that week it can be done in one go with just a -4

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,173 ✭✭✭Dearg81

I'm not sure if you have seen Leeds recently but they literally have kids on the bench as their squad is stretched to the limit with injuries. They're badly missing Kalvin Phillips too, City and Arsenal tore them apart. I'd expect Liverpool to get at least 4 against them.

I wouldn't rate Leicesters defence highly either and Liverpool destroyed them last season.

I’d trust a female journalist before someone without TAA in their squad 😄

I see Foden and Grealish are in Peps bad books. I wonder what kind of effect it will have. They both might try and make a good impression and bang in some goals to say sorry.

Or they could both be dropped again for the next game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,940 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Don't the two of those lads have 'form' for 'breach of discipline' either with England or in Grealish's case with a previous club.

Foden might find a way back due to his adaptability and quality - or as Pep says it 'kwal-il-tee between the lines'. It could be a long way back for Grealish though. He has been fairly underwhelming by his previous high standards at Villa.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,216 ✭✭✭Xander10

It was Foden and Greenwood on England duty. Foden's gf at home with their new born baby at the time

The English lads seem to be the worse, Kyle walker was out parting with a load of prostitutes during the first lock down and get a reprimand from Pep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,699 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Was the Foden/Greenwood incident when they shagged two Icelandic girls on an England away trip in Iceland during Covid?

On this occasion the reports were that they both went out to a nightclub after the Leeds 7-0 and then showed up still pretty pissed to the training ground the morning after. Im guess they likely drove there too. Greaslish should know better, hes 26.

Hard to know what Pep will do about it from here, he has the luxury of being able to win games without either of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,977 ✭✭✭Trimm Trabb

    How good has Martinelli looked?

I have Smith Rowe and Gallagher - would swapping him in for either be a sideways move or is he a much better pick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Martinelli has looked great whenever I've seen him, best finisher at the club in my opinion. Gallagher safest for gametime, the Martinelli the most likely to score if they were all playing, ERS somewhere in the middle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,315 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

Any thoughts on going for ESR or Martinelli?

Getting rid of Sissoko to have a stronger squad over the festive period.

ESR - not starting recently but still returning. Surely will be back in the team next time out? More expensive at 6.1

Martinelli - bang in form, superb finisher and seemingly more advanced. Cheaper too at 5.3. Surely no risk to rotation?

Want 1 Arsenal attacker for the Norwich game.

    So about that Salah plan....

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

    Nightmare !!

Salah, TAA, Jota, Raphinha, Dennis all with blanks this week in my team. Antonio is a doubt too.

What's everyone thinking of doing now for this GW? Might have to use one of my Free Hits now but I really wanted to save both of them for DGWs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Benimar

    Sitting tight.

Possibility of more games being off. Also an awful lot of teams will have a DGW22 so might be worth FH this week and aim towards having a good team for DGW22?

There is genuinely too much uncertainty to do anything before Stephen’s Day morning tbh.
