    Aki/Bolton

    Arnold or TOH 23

Looks a good team - I like the combination of Ultan and Murray in the second row. With all the covid chaos, you'd have to wonder if they'll actually end up playing though. Time will tell.

Some serious physicality on that bench. Will be needed against this Leicester side. Wiese is a big danger for them.

Neither Ford or Genge have been picked for Leicester - that helps.

That's a strong Connacht side, although I would have left McNulty at 15. Tiernan has a lot of credit in the bank and I hope that he shows his selection was justified. Once Mack is back there can be no passengers in the back three - we have too much potential to maximize.

Disappointing news about 50% attendance again, especially the Munster game. I'd assume that only season ticketers will be accommodated and even then we'd probably have well over 3kish season ticketers after the renewals re-opened.

Freddie Steward is a real threat (if the game goes ahead, of course). I watched him on the telly playing for England in the Autumn Series and he was fantastic. Scored tries against South Africa and Australia.

Good start from Connacht. Should have done better with that line break though

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Arrrgggh Porch/Wootton was in there if Arnold got the offload away!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,701 ✭✭✭clsmooth

Great time to score. Connacht deserve the lead. Good game.

Connacht were excellent from minutes 25-40. Was about to say it was a shame they couldn't convert their possession dominance to points. Then the intercept happened.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,341 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Tigers changed their entire front row and have got 4 pens from the 4 scrums since.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

That knock on from O'Halloran when he should have kicked it now looking to be a very costly mistake.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

The one positive from this is its running time off the clock.

Yer man's pronunciation of Aungier is hilarious

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Sadly Connacht are throwing this away in typical Connacht fashion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,172 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Carty blew it.

When Connacht get into this position the game is already up sadly, they will just continue to shoot themselves in the foot until they have nothing left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭TRC10

Carty can do great things in attack but his game management and tactical kicking has been astonishingly poor and will seriously go against him when it comes to Ireland selection

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,341 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

5 pens and a yellow card won since Leicester changed their entire front row. And 14 points conceded by Connacht during that yellow. Things were going pretty well up to that point.

That knock on summed up the half.

    Beyond woeful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭UAEguy2020

Also Leicester winning record this season sums up the GP it seems, they are nothing outside of their set piece but they are just better at than their GP rivals so win the majority of their games. Dont expect it to be as affective in Europe when they play against the better European sides.

Sadly Connacht appear to have dicks for fingers today.

Connacht need to push on and try get a LBP now, could be crucial come the end of the Pool stage

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭TRC10

    Very smart from Carty there.

Good result for Connacht but that was a smash and grab if ever I've seen one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,341 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Did well to dig out a losing BP in the end. Very hard to win a game when you are conceding penalties at every single scrum which is pretty much what happened from the 50th minute on.

Leicester are 9 from 9 at the top of the Premiership so today was always going to be a tough ask.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭ClanofLams

It was pretty clearly a tactic not to kick to touch and try to keep the ball in play as much as possible. Carty kicks well to touch pretty much every week, there’s a reason he was hitting it down middle of pitch today.

Presume he's talking about the missed penalty to touch and the 50-22 that went dead, within five mins of each other
